    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

53F and running in short sleeves?! Yikes, my Cali blood is turning blue at the thought! It was 60 here and I wanted to ride my bike but dh's dad popped by unexpectedly for a visit. He lives 3 hours a way so we don't see him that much.

I liked Curves. But I did work it. I also really stretched at the end with 30 second stretches just like you were supposed to. Which made my 30 min workout more like 45.

    Im new in Ireland!

Welcome to LapBandTalk! I'd suggest you ask in the Ireland subforum, but I see you already have!
  7. Except plenty of people have been approved with UHC with a BMI of 40.5 and not even supplying 5 years of weight history. So I'd take it as her opinion, not the truth. I'd also ask her why she keeps asking you if you are sure you want to submit. That part is very weird to me. If she think you need to do something else before you submit, she should say what it is. If she thinks you'll be denied, she should say she's going to submit, but she's not hopeful. But "are you sure you still want to submit" is IMNSHO passive-aggressive bs.

    Hello from South Dakota

And check out the Mens Forum on here! I bet you will like it. I noticed you ended up with two posts of Intro. I merged the other one into this thread since you said some new things in the other one.

Right now, Couch-to-5K *is* this kind of work out for me. :tongue2: I was doing 30 min. workouts at the gym and my weight loss has slowed down to 1 lb. a week. I was freaking out. Then I started freaking out that I wouldn't be ready for the Triathlon I signed up for. I also went to a presentation on fitness at the local OH event and discovered I need to be at 5 METS or more in workouts. (That's a measure of intensity.) So I moved to 45 min *and* increased my intensity and the weight started falling off again.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

I like swimming and biking the most. Running is just there. I used to hate it, but now I don't. I've actually somewhat gotten into the running. I think it was Couch-to-5K that did that for me. Before I would just go out and run as long as I could and then my lungs would be screaming, my muscles sore, and a bout 2 weeks into it, something would go out (usually the back) and that would be the end of that.

    help exercise question

Our pilates instructor is awesome. We alternate core strength work with stretching. But she also teaches a yoga class right after. Every pilates class I've done has put in bits from yoga though. Tell your trainer to do it too! :tongue2:

OH's Rants & Raves is a vast wasteland IMO and not worth the effort to even skim for interesting discussions.

Running outside scares me a bit, to be honest. Now I'm even more scared! I do the other stuff because I'm training for a triathlon so I need to train running, bike & swim. Pilates is the only actual cross-training if you want to be technical. The rest are part of the sport!

    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

I had a rest day. My triceps were happy but my quads are still killing me. I think I may have to go to two rest days a week.

Yep. I saw a study that shows that even though you do burn fat more efficiently in a certain zone, that the extra calories you burn if you go higher makes up for it.

    help exercise question

Exactly! I did Jazzercise at about 5 weeks out and it HURT. So I stopped and didn't do Pilates until later. My doctor told me I could do whatever exercises I wanted at about 3 weeks out. I figured my body didn't want to do pilates just yet.

    Newbie 6 months after surgery

Get another fill! Sounds like you were swollen at first but now you aren't and need fill to replicate that original feeling. My surgeon likes to see his lap-band patients every month or so, much more often than his others because he wants to make sure they are properly filled. It's getting the right fill that conquers the hunger.

    To Get Thin in California

Welcome to LapBandTalk! It's hard to say if it's normal because it's going to depend on your insurance. Mine is a co-pay deal if you stay in network. So it wouldn't be normal for me (assuming it actually covered WLS, that is). But if you have to pay a percentage, it might be. And if it's a program fee, well, those range all over from as little as $300 to a high of $7500. Hope that helps!

    Anyone need extra help??

Do you have support group meetings you can go to? I wish I could go to them 2x a month but they are only 1x month. Well, if I want to travel, I can go to ones farther away, but they are designed to be once a month so often it's the same topic. But I digress... My point is, I have found the WLS support groups to be invaluable.
