I did fartlets! I'm still not exactly sure what they are but I went around that damn track 12 times by the time it was over. How long a distance is that?
-
Okay, I lied. At our track workout today, the coach said I had good form! We did fartlets and I was able to do 3 of them, which was the minimum we were supposed to do, but I had to keep going during the stretching time to finish. So it took me about an hour, total. We ran at an easy pace for 2.5 laps, then a hard pace for 1.5 laps. So four laps total. Then a rest, then repeat two more times. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the receiver for my iPod so I couldn't record this on my Nike+. I am so BUMMED!

Clinical Policy up for review question...
MacMadame replied to adagray's topic in Insurance & Financing
IMO making people do this is medical malpractice. I hope someone takes on these insurance companies and makes them start treating us better. -
Anti-Weight loss surgery video on youtube

Surgery is unnatural? Well I guess I should have died giving birth to my first kid instead of having that c-section. -
No one is ever going to say that about me. One of my legs is a lot longer than the other so I kind of lope and I pronate so my right foot is twisted out to the right. Lance talks to me a lot too. But sometimes I get a woman. I am sure she's famous but I can never remember her name to look her up! Hey, I was on week two just 9 weeks ago!

PM or Email. PM works better, I think. Done! The rest is up to you. I don't either. We have a wildfire season in CA. It was scary the first couple of times, but you do get kind of blase about it until something really bad happens. Mr. Mac's sister and family were moving all around San Diego trying to avoid the last big set of fires down there.

It's supposed to rain here too. But not tomorrow so I can do my track workout. But it will be raining for my swim workout. I ran today at the gym and ran for all but 8 min. of the 45 min. I got a new voice on my Nike+ saying "good job" because of it.

Hello everyone from Texas, thining about the Lapband Surgery
MacMadame replied to Creative Kiddos's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well I think you are pretty. You and your daughter look so sweet together. Will they put a band in you with a compromised immune system? It is a foreign object. This is something you definitely need to talk to the surgeon about. In addition to Lap-band and bypass, you also might want to consider the sleeve or DS. Here is a chart that compares all four surgeries commonly done today: Weight-Loss Surgeries Compared -
This is another Betancourt doc, though I believe he's out on his own now. If you search his name, you should find plenty of threads about him. People who have used him that you can PM include: NataliesMommy Leeann Chandler (her husband was the one banded but she's got the account here) moosemama

Yeah, a *total* tragedy. I will join anyone's mob but will not actually do anything. So if you need the numbers, just ping me. I am not addicted to but I do like that I can see what people I used to be really close to are up to. These are not people I would be sending regular emails to or Christmas cards or anything like that so without things like FaceBook, they would just disappear from my life. I go up about every two weeks and maybe comment on someone's status or look at pictures. But I don't do much else. I'd friend all you guys but most of you have said you don't want people knowing you have a band and I am *really bad* about keeping track of that stuff. I know I would just end up accidentally outing people. So only ask to be my friend if you don't care about that. For your own piece of mind. Getting older is getting better. Better than the alternative, anyway.

Welcome to LapBandTalk! This is a great place to learn what life with a band is like. Good luck with your journey.

Newbie - To Be Banded February 12th in Los Angeles
MacMadame replied to YouChutUp's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to LapBandTalk! Your message fell off the first page, probably because it was posted on a weekend, so my answering you will bump it back up. I also recommend checking out the Feb '09 Bandsters forum here: February 09 Bandsters - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum There are tons of people being banded this month there! -
What kills me about WOW is that MacBoy talks about it as if it's this big responsibility. When we say "come to dinner", he'll say not just that he's in the middle of a raid, but that he's "letting down the group." Um, it's a freaking video game. No one's *real* life will be screwed up if the raid falls apart!

I went to a swim clinic. We swam for about 1 hour 30 min and I got to see a video of myself swimming where I realized it looks like I never move my feet. Hmmm.
-
MacBoy plays it but took a year off. He's more measured about it now. Before we would fight because I'd want him to come to dinner and he'd say "I"m raiding!" This time he got smart and started his own guild of people on his coast and they raid at 8:30pm instead of dinner time.

Oh, teenagers.

confused and needs help please
MacMadame replied to Dharma's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to LapBandTalk, Dharma! I'm not familiar with doctors in your area. Here in the United States, doctors are given a hard time if they band people under 35 BMI though there are some who will if you have a lot of co-morbidities. You might want to ask around in the section for people from other countries. We have one for Ireland and the UK and then another for "Other" which would include Europe: Elsewhere Local Lap-Band Support - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum -
I can't delete my MySpace. MacBoy needs me to be in his Mob.

Good luck!

I'm going to move this to the Exercise forum.

I'm here too but I'm not bored. I should update my blog but I think I may go play a few sets of Rock Band with my family.

I went to college in IN. So that's what I think of when I see "Bend". :biggrin. I think July is plenty of time. I've seen training plans for Couch to Sprint Tri that are as little as 12 weeks, as well as 16 and 20 week ones.
-
Oh and I forgot to say, I have a dilemma. I was going to sign up for a 5k on March 22nd. But I signed up for this swim clinic and the last day is the 22nd. So now I have to find a new 5k to do. I want to do it about a month before my triathlon (April 19th) but even three weeks before would work.
-
Kathy, that's so awesome that a) they think of you as a fit person and :cursing: you can eat in public and people see what you eat as normal. Those are two of my goals, too. So, I only got in one Coach to 5K run this week. That means I have to do it again next week to say I've really completed the program. Oh well.
-
Today I did my first "New to the Sport" workout. It was a coached bike ride. I sucked. :cursing: But I had fun. We went for 16 miles and, unlike my typical rides, there were hills. Afterwards I dropped my bike off at the bike shop because I'm sick of the front derailer not actually changing gears when I press it. Plus, it became very clear that my seat is too low.
