It depends on how big they are. Most programs say you can have pills that are smaller than an M&M. But if it's bigger than that, you may want to crush it, cut it in half, or -- in the case of a capsule -- empty it out into yogurt or something. I would discuss this with your surgeon and/or PCP as there may also be an alternative form such as a liquid for your particular medicine.

Are there any sleeve un-success stories?
MacMadame replied to neworleanslady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, there are. Average excess weight loss is similar to RnY so it ranges from about 60 to 80 % depending on starting BMI. Which means there have to be people who don't make it to goal. -
Besides make you tired? :w00t: It's supposed to encourage you to use your whole arm as a paddle and not just your hands. My exercise: 45 min. on stationary bike. I got in 13.36 miles on Random Hill, Level 10. And the best part is that not once on the killer hills did I end up with the machine on Pause due to not being able to pedal fast enough. (I think of being paused as Epic Fail and I hate it.) Oh and someone I work with complemented me... saying I was always there working out and putting everyone else in the gym to shame. (It isn't really true ... I only put about 50% of them to shame. The rest put me to shame. ) So I guess this means I'm a gym rat!

Are you eating enough? You have to eat enough to support your energy levels. I can only work out 5 days a week at my age. I sometimes do 6 but often I can't. So I try to make each one count and just accept my limitations.

I don't do anything with them. My program allows for a certain number of calories and assumes a certain amount of exercise. Therefore, the calories burned by exercise are not "extra" but are built into the program. Also, it's hard to know how many calories you've burned. Most online calculators and the readouts at the gym vary wildly and are often too high. So it's a bit risky to assume you can eat an extra 350 calories because that's what the stationary bike said you burned.

What fortune cookie did you get that out of? :w00t: -
Me, me! I loved it. I thought it was the kind of movie that is more than the sum of its parts and, to me, that's the sign of a great movie. I thought it made India seem really alive, too. I hadn't been that interested in visiting it before this from watching it on the Amazing Race. I was so happy when Slumdog Millionaire won all kinds of awards. I think I may go home and make some more Madras Deviled eggs to Celebrate. :w00t:

I had Week 2 of my Swim Clinic. I got to swim a bunch of laps with tennis balls in my hands! :hurray: I swam over a mile in 1.5 hours.

You might as well submit. Think of it as buying a lottery ticket. You don't really expect to win but if you do, it will be awesome.

Kat- Your dd's story shows how uneven our health care is in this country and also how important the right diagnosis is.

Today was my "New to the Sport" class and we did bike handling. We were riding around in circles practicing bumping into people! Then we went for a group bike ride in a pack.

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

Hey, we were talking about this at a support group meeting I was at today. One of the things I love about being in the regular sizes is that the differences between sizes are so small that you can get really tailored and fitted clothes. Unlike the Plus sizes where you can go up and down by a lot of weight and still be in the same size! -
That's great, Kat! Well, she wouldn't be the first...

NewOrleansLady Good Luck tomorrow!
MacMadame replied to Nevergoback's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have they given you any of those meds in liquid form? You might not vomit those. Also, ask if they think your stomach is spasming when you take the pills. If it is, there is medicine that you can take to help with that and that will let you take the other pills. -
I went back to the gym at 2 weeks and rode the stationary bike for 30 min. at a time. Before that I walked around the neighborhood.

I had a great run today. Walked 3 min. to warm up. Then ran 33 at 5.0, then walked 2, then ran out the time, still at 5.0, and 2 min. cool down. I can't believe I can run at 5.0 now. I remember when 4.6 seemed really, really fast. 5.0 actually seems a bit slow but my heart rate was pretty high so I didn't want to go faster.

Exercising...but Gaining?? Please Help!!
MacMadame replied to MississippiGirl's topic in Fitness & Exercise
It's probably Water. When you exercise, it breaks down your muscle tissue and then builds it back up. Breaking it down releases water but building it up stores water. But make sure you are tracking your food and you didn't eat more -- your body often tries to get you to eat more when you increase your exercise. -
I had such a great run. I'm turning into a runner! Me! I ran 3.56 mi. in 45 min. and I was on 5.0! I'm up to 33 min. running at time, too. I think I need more exclamation points though. !!!! :tt2:
