Welcome to LapBandTalk! I hope you don't wait a year for your second post!

Welcome to LapBandTalk! I understand about being nervous. WLS is a big step. But I'm so glad I had mine.

Yes, you have immediate restriction that loosens up as the swelling goes down and the stomach tissues relax.

Getting a 'March'ing Band
MacMadame replied to MDSanta's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well I spend a lot of time in the Lounge and Rants & Raves section. There are also sections for different states and countries, people banded around the same time, and all other sorts of interests. Check everything out and you will see where you find the most value and have the most fun. -

I don't know the real definitions either. But I think of "T" as "Talking" pace. So you are going easy and should be able to have a conversation. R and I are higher. I think I stands for Intense. Well, that would make sense, woudn't it? I've read the definitions before but they haven't sunk in. Basically when I'm told to do T pace, I do my normal pace. When I'm told to do anything else, I go faster than T. Hey, it works for me.

Tues. night was our track workout. I thought I posted it, but I guess not. We did 1600 at T pace, then 400 at R or I pace. 90 seconds rest, then do it again! Some people managed to do it 3 times but I was happy I did it 2 times.

First patients to have Realize...let's hear from you!

Some people react this way to a band. Talk to WASaBubbleButt in particular about her experiences. While switching bands may help, plenty of people with the Lap-band have had this problem too. If it was me, I'd look into one of the other surgery types and just assume I'm one of those people who can't tolerate a band. -
Of course you can have kids. People who have WLS do it all the time. This includes people who had surgery types that include malabsorption like the RnY and DS. First of all, losing weight should make you more fertile and so make it easier to get pregnant. Then, being pregnant at a smaller size is a lot healthier than being pregnant at a larger size. As for the extra calories you will need, it's only something like an extra 200 a day. You can easily get that just by drinking another Protein shake, if you can't get it from food. Though you should be able to get it from food. By 1 year out, most sleevesters can eat anywhere from 1000 to 1500 calories easily and some of the guys and athletic types end up around 2000. It would be much harder if you accidentally got pregnant in the first 6 months when your sleeve is much smaller. The way that people get in trouble when they get pregnant after having WLS is in the following areas: 1) Gaining too much weight and then not being able to get it all off after the baby. Of course, this happens to people without WLS too. 2) Not taking all your Vitamins religiously so that you suffer some sort of obscure Vitamin deficiency that causes problems for you post-pregnancy. Someone without WLS should be taking vitamins too but it's not nearly as vital as it is for us. Again, this tends to be a much bigger issue for people who had RnY or DS because of the malabsorption. But we should all be aware. 3) Sometimes bandsters find they can't get back their sweet spot after a pregnancy. Or morning sickness causes their bands to slip from all the vomting. This isn't applicable to us though (and I don't think it's the norm for a bandster either, but it does happen).

Good luck!

She had her hissy fit last week when they had to workout without a gym. I think she's just as psychotic as Bob. It just comes out in different ways.

I had my track workout today. Ran 1600 m at T pace (i.e., really slow) and then 400 m at R or I pace (not quite as slow). Then rest for 90 seconds and do it again. I can't believe I was actually able to run FASTER after running a mile, but I did. Oh and my R/I pace is slower than some people's T pace.

Chickie does. She really didn't need anything but a panni though. You should be able to find her through the Members page.

Welcome to LapBandTalk! There are some threads on Dr. Rod in the Doctors & Hospitals section you might want to check out.

I'm going to move this to the Doctors & Hospital forum since you didn't get a response here.

No, I'm just wondering if I made a good decision. I felt like it was *too much* bike for me at first. But I already don't feel that way. I'm no where near where getting a better bike will improve my times though.
-
I hate it when I want to do something and someone else is on the machine. But they paid their membership to the gym too. So what are you going to do?
-
That was my experience too. That's what insulin resistance does to you. This is one reason why, even though I have tons of PCOS symptoms, I don't think I actually have it as I don't seem to be insulin resistant. But I do feel like I'm losing slower this time than my last big diet. Maybe due to my age. I also prefer eating low carb. I just feel better overall.

I found out why I was denied, now what??

I don't believe you do as you approved for the procedure, not for the doctor. But the new surgeon may have new requirements. Think about what it will be like to be getting fills from this place. If the office staff is bad in a way that makes your aftercare nightmare-ish, it might be worth switching. OTOH, if the surgeon is really, really good, it might be worth putting up with them. My surgeon's office staff is nice. But they haven't got it together. Which means a lot of rescheduled appointments and I have to do more follow-up than I like. However, it's worth it to me because my surgeon is so good and it's not like they are horrible to deal with. If they were bitchy or mean, that would tip the balance. -
I've been researching this and, from what I've seen, people who just get the paniculectomy are often unhappy with their results. Without the muscle tightening, you don't get the really flat stomach. I'm still on the fence about it all... especially since it looks like insurance will not pay for a paniculectomy either as mine isn't long enough by their criteria and also they want the rashes to not be treatable. I haven't even had a rash yet let alone an untreatable one!

I still don't have a Nike+ and I'm bummed. I haven't looked at how I'm doing in the challenges because it's too depressing to know that I've run but I'm not getting credit for it. I keep expecting my missing receiver to show up one day (like all my single earrings that show up the day after I throw out the matching one).

So did I under-buy? I got the Specialized Dolce Elite and it seemed pretty expensive to me. :w00t: But I know there way more expensive bikes out there.
-
Hi Sean! I live in NorCal but I only go to Placerville when I'm on my way to Tahoe. :w00t: Where are you having your surgery?

They'll test the DNA when they find it, but then they have to have a sample to compare it too. Without a suspect, they couldn't do that until now.

And here I was thinking today at the gym that Obama is doing a much better job than I expected. Not that I expected him to do a bad job, but he's been really blowing me away.
