I am 5 months out. Lost over 80 pounds. The surgery went pretty well, for the most part. If you want a lot of details, I am posting about my progress in my blog. (Link below)

Aetna and "long-standing" obesity -- Hmmm...
MacMadame replied to mishakal's topic in Insurance & Financing
FYI, they changed the 5 years to 2 years about a year ago. -
My program does too. You start out on liquids -- which is mostly Protein shakes and then you gradually replace them with meals. But you keep up the "between meal" shakes as needed. Plus, Dr. C. says having a bullet or shake once a day is a great way to get in your protein so you have more room for veggies with the meals since you aren't trying desperately to get your protein in during the meal and filling up on it with no room for veggies. He's big on veggies. This system has worked very well for me. I have a shake in the morning and then at night (or sometimes the afternoon), I do protein hot chocolate. The rest of my protein comes from solid stuff. I also am doing 100 g a day. I didn't mind the "not easy" but the later two scared me. More than the permanency of the sleeve. Which definitely is a deal breaker for some people. You must be so proud. :scared2: Sorry about your friend.

It came today! Not in time for my run this evening, but still... So I'm back into the challenges.

I had an awesome run! Did my 3 min. warm-up walk and then ran for 37 min and I got the whole 5K in. For the first time! Then I walked the reset of the time out. I can't believe I did a whole 5k!

Welcome to LapBandTalk? Did you have a hiatal hernia? I had one of those and I was so happy when they fixed it. No more GERD! -

So how much of that can be accounted for by clipping your toe nails? -

Welcome to LapBandTalk! There is a section for all people being banded in April and there is a section for all people from the UK. If you post something in both those sections, you should find a band buddy. -
Newbie...with a million questions..
MacMadame replied to beltrist's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to LapBandTalk! I don't know how the process works in Australia, but if you aren't going to be penalized for being too small by losing weight -- which happens in the US to some people, believe it or not -- then I say go for it! Not so much "trying to lose weight" as "starting to make the post-op lifestyle changes as a pre-op". This will have the side-effect of losing weight, but the goal is to learn to chew slowly, not drink with meals, get enough water in, take your vitamins, etc. Any new habit you can get pre-op, is one less then to worry about post-op. That's what I did and I'm really glad I did because post-op was *still* quite the adjustment. -
Welcome to LapBandTalk! I'm not familiar with those two docs. Be sure to ask your question in the Doctors & Hospitals section if you don't get an answer here.

Eh, I don't think it's any more common among the MO than it is the general population. Some people have an internal locus of control and see their actions as controlling what happens to them. Others have an external locus of control and see no connection. Stuff just "happens" to them. I knew a lot of people like that growing up poor of various weights. As for Dane, I think he got caught up in the moment and made a bad choice and now he doesn't want to admit it on national TV. I'm not sure that's the same thing. Lots of people don't want to admit it publicly when they made a mistake. And, really, whether he went back and did the whole thing or not, running a marathon straight up is much different than running it in pieces so I still say he didn't do a marathon.

Yeah! I'm so happy with mine. Though be prepared for a few weeks when you are pissed you can't eat much. Not everyone goes through that, but a lot do. Including me. Heh, we're going to have to rename this place SleeveTalk.com if this keeps up.

The Crystal Method does the theme for Bones. And that's about my knowledge of that kind of music.

Welcome to LapBandTalk! My mom lives in Fairfax. Well, Oak Hills really. I heard Dr. Eleariny is great. One of my friends go her DS from him.

Welcome to LapBandTalk! Your day is almost here. Hope you aren't getting TOO nervous as your day approaches. Wear very light clothing and as little of it as possible and don't drink or eat too close to your appointment and you could lose a pound right there. Oh and trim your toenails! Seriously, someone gave that tip at a support group meeting I was at last week. -
Welcome to LapBandTalk! The sever has been a bit iffy this weekend so I'm posting to bump this back to the first page. Sorry about the nausea.

Welcome to LapBandTalk. The server has been acting funny so I'm posting to bump this up so someone can see it. You might also ask on your state board or the Doctors & Hospitals section, if you don't get an answer here. -
I did 45 min. on stationary bike. 12.79 miles on Random Hill. Man, it was KILLER this time. All big hills and only small rests. I thought I was going to die!

I'm mad because my new Nike+ still hasn't arrived. Two week of running and none of it counts towards challenges! I got a wallet-thingie too this time to hold all the pieces. Maybe this time I'll hang onto them longer.

End of winter...triathlons await...yes, you can!
MacMadame replied to kagoscuba's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I'm signed up for the following races: 5K - March 15th - it's a tune up for my first tri ICE Breaker Tri - April 19th - it's a Sprint but the run is 4 miles. Yikes Mermaid Tri - early June - it's pretty sure even for a Sprint but it's in my town and sounds like fun. I'm treating it as a B race Tri for Fun #3 - Aug. 8th - regular sprint in the next town over. Lots of people in my club do this one. I may do a 10k in Sept or Oct as well as prep for next season. It depends on how my season goes. -
Kaiser Fremont takes forever and one of their surgeons is out on maternity leave so it's taking even longer. They do fast-track people with Type II Diabetes.

You can have a band put around the pouch or you can get Stomaphyx where they tighten up your pouch and stoma. These only help if the problem is that your stoma has stretched so you don't get that full feeling any more. If the problem is that you need more malabsorption than RnY gives you, there is the DS. If the problem is in your head and you won't do the work, eat a lot of slider foods, don't exercise, sabotage yourself, etc. ain't nothing you can revise to that you won't learn how to get around.

People were bored, people couldn't sleep, crap happened, jokes were cracked. Oh and LuLu took 4 pregnancy tests because her dh is paranoid and smsmithart is eyeing a sausage. I think that about sums it up.
