I ran my first 5K race! It was awesome. In spite of my pants trying to fall down at the start and the bad weather. I ran 36'21" which is faster than I run in the gym! That put me at 25/75 in my age group -- top 1/3 finish! Woot, woot! I was in the middle in terms of the entire race though. Which means I met two of my goals: (1) don't come in last and (2) finish in under 40 min. Here's my full race report: Fatty Fights Back: My first 5k - Race Report

I had glue. I've had staples before and I like glue better.

I haven't had PS yet but everything I need to get fixed in my abdomen area is from having babies more than from being fat. This includes the flap of skin between my breasts and belly button that is caused by muscle separate and my panus, which started after my first c-section. If I were still having kids, I'd be worried to get PS and then have all this stuff come back.

I was busy biking and running.

*Susan* revision from band to sleeve
MacMadame replied to *susan*'s topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I ordered a ton of samples from Vitalady.com. You can get samples from Syntrax too. I ordered a lot of unflavored stuff and added it to my broth. I also bought Isopure from GNC. They are not to everyone's taste but they saved my butt -- 40 g of Protein and 20 oz. of Fluid in one! -
Today I went biking with my group. We road over 27 miles! I was squarely in the front of the back of the pack, too. This is a big improvement because normally I'm trailing last.

I think whenever you feel hungry (other than normal hunger), it means you need another fill.

I was just going to boast about my 27 mi ride. Now I feel inadequate.

Kaiser Northern California
MacMadame replied to claudiab893's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There are 3 Kaiser programs in NorCal that do WLS. Fremont, So SF and Richmond. And that's all I know since I don't have Kaiser any more. -

Before you talk it back, you may want to try changing the batteries.

Tried out the strength training on Wii Fit. Eh. But my Mii shrunk!

Awesome! I want to get mine down from low 60s to low 50s. It was trending that way but then my blood pressure got lower and now it's back up to lower 60s. Weird.

jumping on the BAND wagon!

Welcome to LapBandTalk! I used to live in SD but now I live in NorCal. Where abouts are you? I used to be able to see Grossmount Hospital from my front lawn. -
No, your post doesn't surprise me at all. Gallup poll numbers show his approval rating at over 60%.

Are there any sleeve un-success stories?
MacMadame replied to neworleanslady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine is Dr. Cirangle in NorCal. (I couldn't tell who you were asking.) -
Definitely, if I looked like that, I'd get plastics instead of wavering about it. My situation is much less straight-forward. Which is good in it's own way, I guess. :w00t:

Oh. Well that dude needs some serious PS, whomever he is. :w00t:

Family & Friends telling Me I'm Obsessed with Losing Weight...Does it happen to you?
MacMadame replied to amonroy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have this saying on my wall: "'Obsessed' is a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated." It may or may not apply here. :w00t: -
You know, that picture PROVES that he lost a TON of weight with his RnY. I do think he was expecting a magic wand that would magically wipe it all away with no work on this part. If I were him, I'd get plastic surgery and remove as much of the skin as possible. It would also remove a lot of fat cells and kick start his weight loss. Then I'd get back with the program and work my tool!

WLS is definitely a roller-coaster! Right now I'm almost at goal and UP, UP, UP! Whee. Good think I like roller coasters, right? :w00t:

I think you should put in a request for PG to be smited. :w00t: Sorry about your prognosis though.

I am 11 weeks post op from Gastric Sleeve Surgery
MacMadame replied to Nia's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah, me too. But I feel hunger more than every once in a while. But it's pretty normal stuff. Like I eat lunch and then gradually, over a period of 3-4 hours, I start to feel hungry, and as time progresses, it grows until I feel like I should do something about it. At that point, it's right about time for the next meal anyway. I can live with that and I know that's what normal people experience. But, instead, I fight it. I'm so used to fighting my hunger and it's an ingrained behavior. I've had this experience once or twice too. All the programs are different. On mine, we did "thin" liquids for 2-3 weeks, then "softs" for 2-3 weeks, then regular food. But they also said that we should go "as tolerated" and some people stay on "softs" until as late as 3 months out! At 3 weeks, I had my first check-up and, after talking, my surgeon and I agreed that that I should go slow on starting regular food, so I didn't until 7 weeks out. Your program booklet can say one thing, but you and your surgeon may decide something else will work better for you. Maybe you'll have an easy recovery and go faster or maybe you'll need to go slower. I think anywhere in the 6-8 weeks range is pretty reasonable for starting back on regular food. Some programs have you starting back as early as 2 weeks and that scares me a bit. -
But not cheaper than a Garmin Forerunner. I really covet one of those. I ended up getting the Reebok one because it was on sale at Buy.com. It's regularly around $110, but I paid $30 for it. I'll let you know how I like it when it shows up.
