I'm in! ....
-
Mac Boy loved the WoW poster. I have these hanging on my wall at work:
-
I think running has not only helped with my weight loss but it's really sculpted my body so it looks much better at this weight than it has in the past.
-
Our "NTTS" workout was so hard that I came home and took a 3 hour nap! We did core strengthening for about 50 min. with a trainer and then we did a bike workout with intervals for another 50 min.

I am very happy with how accessible Obama is.

I think that's the core of the issue. WLS will not make a bad marriage better. Any big life change puts strain on a relationship, even if it's a good change, and strain will tear apart a weak marriage. OTOH, WLS often makes a good marriage better. Me too. It's not bad. DH and I make a good team and he's a real sweetie in so many ways. But we've been married for almost 20 years and all the passion is gone. His weight is also an issue because it interferes with his performance. I feel hypocritical for minding his weight when he never minded mine, but it's definitely an issue, particularly since he has so many health problems and is in total denial about his weight. But, now that I've done something, it's that much harder to put up with him not being willing to do much of anything about his.

*Susan* revision from band to sleeve
MacMadame replied to *susan*'s topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Definitely. I used the original to research surgeons here in the Bay Area. I modified it up to include stuff for the sleeve (as that one wasn't available at the time) and also modified to get rid of question that didn't apply if you weren't traveling out of area. It worked great! -
What!! No more asparagus??!!
MacMadame replied to rcfancy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Even that isn't a no-no on every program. I guess it's controversial whether or not it really stretched the pouch. -
Welcome to LapBandTalk! This definitely a good place to find out what life with a lap-band is like.

Welcome to LapBandTalk! That's an amazing recovery.

Welcome to LapBandTalk! This is a great place to figure out what you are doing. I learned so much here.
-
Definitely individual!

Well I'm kind of full in my schedule right now.... One 4 mile race, 3 triathlons and then a 10k. That gets me right through Oct. So I figure I'm not even going to think about it until the off season.

Congrats on your insurance approval! There are sections for each state where you can find peopel who live near you and we have a section on Nutrition too.

I want to do a Century next year.

What!! No more asparagus??!!
MacMadame replied to rcfancy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No, it's not true. You can eat anything you can tolerate. Some people can't do the more fibrous veggies because they prefer to be tighter, but that's a personal choice. There is nothing about asparagus that would hurt the band or you. -
Welcome to LapBandTalk. We have people from all over.

Sounds like you are in Bandster Hell. It does get better.
-
Yes, it's definitely easier once you have something other than liquids to deal with. I found that I could "chew" jello and sf popsicles and that helped a lot.

I don't pay my kids for doing chores. Doing chores is something everyone in the family has to do because that's part of being in a family. But once they get old enough, I give them a budget. DS gets one now. He figures out what kinds of things he wants to spend money on -- how much on clothes, how much on going out with friends, how much for his WOW subscription, etc. Then we negotiate. Once his budget is set, that's it. If he blows all his money on a $75 t-shirt and can't pay for his WoW subscription, then oh well. He has to earn the extra somehow or do without. Oh and now that he's old enough to work? He gets nothing in the summer. He has to get a job if he wants money. DD is still just on the allowance plan. She gets so much a week for whatever she wants to spend it on. But she's only 10. When she's older, she'll be shifted to the budget plan. Unlike DS, she doesn't seem to understand the value of a dollar -- even though they both got the same allowance and it worked the same way -- so I anticipate a lot of whining and crying when she wants new clothes and can't afford them. I have to say, I'm not looking forward to it. But hopefully she'll learn even if it's the hard way. :tt2:

Anyone notice Post Banders are a bit snobbish?
MacMadame replied to El Diablo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Good one!! -
There is only one challenge left ... maybe we need to start another one. I'm near my goal, but I think I won't lose this week. Sigh.

47 min on treadmill. Spent a lot of it calibrating my new Nike+ and then rest running.
-
Mine sometimes smells like ammonia. My surgeon says this is a sign I'm not drinking enough fluids. I think the sweat smell might be related to being in ketosis though.

I decided to run again today even though I ran yesterday. I had to miss my swim workout for my support meeting. But then the scheduled topic didn't happen so I was annoyed. I'd rather swim!
