That was awesome! I liked how the people not in on it started dancing along too.

Did anyone NOT wait until they were at goal for TT?
MacMadame replied to SanDiegoPhotog's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Why would it be a three year process? I agree with waiting until you are "done" (which may not be "at goal" since the excess skin does weigh something) and then allowing about 6 months to see how the skin rebounds. But after that, scheduling surgery shouldn't take that long. -
If you have a lower BMI, will you have as much success?
MacMadame replied to 31andnew's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Statistically speaking, lower BMI patients do better than higher BMI patients. They (well, we, as I was one too) tend to get to goal more often and quicker. I'm 6 months out from my sleeve surgery and I'll be at goal in 2 more pounds. I'm already 11 pounds lower than my original goal. -
I did have to get a new one. It's a Speedo one piece. Nothing fancy, but it has a nice cut. Today I biked at the gym. It was the first time I used my new HRM on the bike. Apparently I burn less calories on the bike than the machines day. So far: less biking, more running. Next test: swimming!

Welcome to LapBandTalk! As far as I know, medicaid does cover the band, but it generally takes longer than a month.

Welcome to LapBandTalk! Be sure to check out the section for "Lapband Strugglers". It's under "Complications".

According to the articles I've read -- interviews with former contestants -- they do cook their own meals. But they aren't taught a lot about nutrition or how to cook with the ingredients they are given.

Maybe she does... have the goods on them.

Not really a hippie. But I was a lot more active in causes when I was younger.

Wow, just wow! You have been through a lot lately. Hey, I'm only only Madame here!

What speed are you walking? I find some speeds are hard to walk and some are hard to job. With walking, it's hard if it's too fast but with jogging it's hard if it's too slow!

Today is my swim day. I swam almost 1.5 miles in the time it used to take me to swim 1 mile!

Hi i'm new from Cordova, Tn
MacMadame replied to emtsusieq's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Since you have GERD, you should be okay. Just be careful about losing weight before surgery. Make sure the insurance company will be okay with it. -
Welcome to LapBandTalk! I'm from CA but up here in the NorCal so I'm not really familiar with the programs down there. I know there are plenty though so you should be able to find something.

Welcome to LapBandTalk! So sorry you had complications already. A friend of mine couldn't drink in the hospital and for some reason it took an entire day for his surgeon to show up and take out the fluid in the band. He was NOT happy!

Welcome to LapBandTalk! I'm from CA too. Where'd you have your surgery?

I thought that was pretty clear from Day One. But I lived through Vietnam as an activist teenager and won't ever forget the lessons it taught. For people younger than me, it's often more academic.

Actually, you made a thread with a question... it invites people who would answer NO to comment just as much as people who would answer YES. If you wanted a thread for people to talk about how great God is, then you should have started one in the Lounge with that title. To start a thread in the debate section that invites debate and then be shocked when you get that debate seems a bit disingenuous to me.

It might even help with the deficit! :cursing:

My advice is to practice chewing well and slowly as soon as you decide to get WLS. You can't practice that enough, as far as I'm concerned. I completely agree about making the most of the first 6 months too. This is particularly important if you have a lot to lose.

I did my first run workout of the week. It's all uploaded to Nike+

Track workout today. I tried out my new HRM. Still not sure how to use it and I seem to have lost the "Chrono" function. It's just gone. Oh, the coach said I'm running faster. I was tickled pink.

What? You didn't like The Rock?

If you can run a 10k, you can do an Olympic distance triathlon. I am thinking about doing the Ironman in two years. I'm not that interested in the HIM except as a stepping stone. I will do the Olympic distance next year and then work up to the Ironman.

The best time is the time you will actually do it. For me that's late afternoon or early evening.
