43% Pay NO Federal Income Tax - ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
MacMadame replied to TerriDoodle's topic in Rants & Raves
My son goes to bed later than my daughter. My daughter says "it's not fair" but it is fair. He's older. When she's older, she'll stay up later too. It works with income tax too. It wouldn't be fair if Bill Gates and I paid the same tax. It's not really even fair if we pay the same percentage. Because 10% of his income is nothing to him, but to me it's a big portion of my disposable income. -
My club has a regular bike ride on Thurs. They have one on Sat. too but it's kind of advanced. Yesterday was the first Thurs. one and first I show up at the last possible second. Then it takes me so long to do the bike ride that I came back after dark which is against the rules. I feel like a dork. But I did get in 22.5 miles! I remember when I was hoping for 16 miles before my triathlon (which is Sunday).

Phase 1-Dr's Referral awaiting Approval

It really varies depending on your doctor's office and the insurance company. -
Welcome to LapBandTalk! Lots of people gain weight having kids and then can't get it off. I think our bodies figure they need the extra padding "just in case" if we are going to be bearing children. In my case, my weight problems started with puberty. My appetite got out of control and then I got pressured to go on a diet and that was all she wrote! Have you found the Aussie section on LBT yet?

I tired too. I want to back to bed.

I think so too. Yum, shrimp!

Today we did a bike ride. I was so slow I got back after dark which is against the rules. Oops. But I did 22.5 miles. Too bad it took me 2 hours!

43% Pay NO Federal Income Tax - ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
MacMadame replied to TerriDoodle's topic in Rants & Raves
Yep, it's totally fair. I've paid taxes out the ying-yang when I was making six figures and I'll be paying them again this year. The government won't collapse during those two years I was trying to get my business going and even 1% during those years would have been a big burden on us. Heck, we're still trying to get out from under those two years in a lot of ways. Fair doesn't mean equal. I tell my kids that all the time and I mean it. -
Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.

Sounds complicated! Insurance matters usually are. I hope it all works out for you. Without a fundus, you should also have the "no ghrelin" thing, right? -
Today is swim day. I was out there for 90 min and got in 2100! I think that's the most I've ever swam.

They are against the rules in triathlons. Some running races allow them and some tris are starting too, but most don't. It's a safety issue and also considered cheating. Yeah, that happens. I did what you did -- made sure my walking and running equalled 3.1 no matter what and pretty soon I was running the whole thing. I think I did it for the first time a week before my race so it was a bit nerve-wracking. The other thing I started doing was after the 5 min. of walking at the end, I'd run again.

43% Pay NO Federal Income Tax - ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
MacMadame replied to TerriDoodle's topic in Rants & Raves
We didn't pay any income tax in 2006. I don't think that's a sign the system is broken. I had started my own business and our yearly income was half what a family of 4 needs to survive in our area that year. -
Heh, heh, I hate that thread too.

I thought bile was yellow? All this talk of butter cake and ooey-gooey cakes and Paula Dean is making me a bit nauseous. I think I've turned into one of *those* people... the ones who only eat healthy food and turn their noses up at the unwashed masses who go to McDonalds and eat Hostess cupcakes. :sneaky:

1 month post op and loving it!!!!
MacMadame replied to neworleanslady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I definitely get real hunger and have from pretty much the beginning. But I work out a lot and my surgeon pointed out to me that real hunger means your body needs fuel. So he had me up my Protein again and that has helped tremendously. Head hunger I do get sometimes, but not like before. Before I was always ravenously hungry as soon as there was even the least bit of room in my stomach. So when I had head hunger, it was almost impossible to resist. Now when I get it, I just leave the source of the food and I forget all about it. -
Did you appeal?

Sleeve surgery, approved, by, insurance,?
MacMadame replied to schatzie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, people have been approved. But a lot haven't either. It depends on a lot on the insurance company. Some will approve it right off the bat, some will deny but approve it on appeal and some won't approve it if hell froze over. -
I went with #1 but I also am completely crazy about my surgeon. If I hadn't been, I would have gone with #2 and it probably would have been Dr. Aceves too. He and Dr. Rumblaut made the top of my possible surgeons list and Aceves has more sleeve experience. I wouldn't do #3 just because Costa Rico is too far away if you have complications and need to go back for some reason.

You shouldn't feel hungry every minute though. When I was on liquids, I was hungry about 1x a day, on average.
