Any one use Dr. Daniel Huacuz-Tijuana?
MacMadame replied to weightshaker's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
That's what I was going to say. He has a proven track record of incompetence, leaks, and death. He does way too many surgeries in a day. When he gets in over his head, instead of calling in someone more experienced, he goes in and makes things worse. Because he's killed people. And the fact that he can put in a band in some people and nothing bad happens doesn't make him a good surgeon. I wouldn't let him operate on a dog. A gal named Adrienne went to him for a sleeve and almost died. If she'd listened to him and stayed in the clinic, she would have. But she managed to escape and get to San Diego and was fixed. They had to put her in a coma for a while to do it though. -
Realize bandsters verses Lap bandesters whats the different results
MacMadame replied to BootyBee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Studies have shown no big difference between the two when it comes to losing weight. Since they both work by the same mechanism, that's expected. -
I was supposed to go to a gym today to check it out. They have a pool and a triathlon training class but family stuff got in the way. Tomorrow is Mini-Mac's birthday party and that's going to seriously interfere too.

Thinking of Having the Lap Band Surgery
MacMadame replied to mollymai's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Are you in CA? Around here Kaiser does RnY (Bypass), Lap Band and VSG (sleeve). So look into all of them before you decide. From what I've seen, they push a LOT of people to RnY so it pays to do your homework first. This page lists the 4 surgery types performed in the US and approved by the ASMBS and gives some pros and cons of each: Weight-Loss Surgeries Compared -
Should prostitution be legal?
MacMadame replied to Carrie_C's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think any sex acts between consenting adults are none of the government's business. -
Berg is an idiot. I hope he gets slammed for filing frivolous lawsuits.

Definitely eating real food before 2 weeks are out is associated with staple line failure. So is surgeon skill. Some surgeons have horrible leak percentages. You want your surgeon to have a % less than 1. I don't think things like sleeping position could really make a dent. Or even sneezing. Our organs are so protected. The human body is actually pretty well designed that way. Other than that, it's just stuff that happens. Even the best surgeons have unexplained staple line failures.

How much weight have you lost???
MacMadame replied to BjSkyGGEvan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's something my surgeon gives us. They don't put it online because it's considered to be one of the things we pay for and they don't want people who didn't pay to get it. I can link you to two sleeve diets online though. They are both from programs at medical schools so they don't care who gets them. http://www.hopkinsbayview.org/bariatrics/docs/nutrition_sleeve.pdf http://www.cornellweightlosssurgery.org/pdf/dietary_guidelines_sleeve_gastrectomy.pdf This is definitely an area that all surgeons do differently. But I would be skeptical of any program that let you have anything thicker than liquids before 2 weeks out. That's the big timeline for letting your staple line heal. Most programs have you on liquids of some sort for at least two weeks. After that, they diverge quite a bit. -
My mom sent me her 'fat' clothes. Since she found out she has Hep C. she has to keep her weight down to make her liver healthy and has been successful at staying a size 8 for years now. But she's quite the pack rat and never got rid of any of her other sizes. First, she sent me two boxes of size 16s and XL/L. This turned out to be more clothes than I owned at the time but I freely admit I'm a bit weird about clothes shopping. Then she sent me the 14s. There were FOUR boxes. Granted, 3 were small copy paper boxes. But still. I don't think they'll fit in my closet. (They don't now, that's for sure, but it's full of the 16s.) I guess I'm not much of a pack rat because I can't comprehend having 6 boxes worth of clothes in your closet that are in sizes much larger than you currently are. Hopefully, it was freeing for her to send them to me. Anyway, whomever I bequeath them to when I'm done with those sizes, will be getting quite the gift. The 14s in particular have some *gorgeous* pieces in there. Lots of jewel tones, which I love and lots of business wear which is probably good for me since I'm jockeying for a promotion.

I'm starting to outgrow things too. I have some 20s, some 22s and some 18/20s. Oh and some 2x and 1x and XL. But what I'm wondering is, what kinds of clothes do people exchange? For example, what about my expensive, but hardly used bras? Or is that considered gross because they are underwear? Do people exchange in lots or do they do it piece by piece? I'd rather just send off everything in one size to one person than having to send out many pieces.

Congratulations!

I found another site that says for Sprint, you don't need to do that much. That anyone who is reasonably fit can do one. Also, there is a gym in my area that has triathlon training and a pool!!

They think they are being nice when they do this. I think all overly effusive complements are embarrassing though.

Am I the only one who looks at the Thread Title "WHY are people voting for McCain" and thinks it's the funniest thing ever? (And I'm not voting for McCain.)

Try the At Goal forum. I think there is also a Social Group for people at goal.

That's what I'm thinking!

But you beat him and he's a guy. They lose faster on average. I always look the bright side.

Did you notice before surgery?
MacMadame replied to auot67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is why I watch "time-shifted". I can space right through the commercials. But when I watch live, oh my, it's torture sometimes. Or when I'm watching a show and they eat on it. Ugh. -
Do it yourself Sleep test?
MacMadame replied to MISS.SUSAN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never heard of insurance denying for that reason, but I've heard of surgeons not doing the surgery for that reason. But insurance is twisty so you never know. -
If WASaBubbleButt doesn't post, maybe you could shoot her a PM. She had this problem.
-
I was afraid of the unknown. And failing. And stuff like that. I think it's pretty normal to be afraid. This is a big step.
-
I had a pain like that off and on immediately post-op. I think it's normal, but if you are worried, you should call your surgeon. It never hurts to check.
-
Sometimes a slip can be fixed by unfilling the band. I would try that before surgery, myself.

Is anyone else freaking out about prop 8
MacMadame replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, it's depressing. But even with all the money they've spent and plastering signs everywhere, it's very tight in the polls. I still have faith in the people of CA. What really gets me is how easy it is to change our constitution. That's just whack!
