  1. Hi Titaniumsleeved2014, Sorry to hear about the complications. What kind of problems are you having? How much did you weigh before WLS? Are you doing any better with the Bypass vs the Sleeve?

    Feeling Judged

I wouldn't even bother with a response, continuing being you and let the haters be. This is the main reason I keep ish to myself.
  3. I believe he said it based on her history. He did her lap band but recommended the Bypass. Now 9 yrs later she wants a revision so of course he is suggesting the Bypass. I think he said it with good intentions. Either way I support her and know she will do whats best for herself. Hopefully I can make the same decision and soon.

    Dating And The Perfect Body

I'm not sure but not all men are the same. My BFF is a guy and trust me he will never date a plus size girl. We've been friends since high school and he has seen my weight fluctuate. Some ppl have their preference. I know I never dated anyone who was more than 200 lbs, even though I'm a big girl I just can't do it. I tend to gain the most weight after I have given birth.

    Dating And The Perfect Body

I knew quite of few men that left their girlfriends because they were gaining too much weight.
  6. @her1981...I see you live in the Chicago area. Where did you get your VSG done?
  7. @@heather5565 you look great! I was scared of the Bypass b/c of losing way too much weight, but you look beautiful!. I didn't want the excess loss skin. What type of exercising do you do?
  8. That's a good question lol I know the Bypass is the best option esp with the long term results, but the whole malabsorption really scares me I'm going to attend another support group tonight with a friend of mines who did the lap-band 9 years ago. She is thinking of revising to the Bypass herself. Her surgeon said the lap-band is just like the sleeve and it's a waste of time. We go to the same medical group just see different surgeons. So I guess you guys are right each surgeon is different.
  9. I'm in the same predicament as you. I was set on the sleeve too, but changed my mind at the very end. I got the Bypass approved by my insurance but I've been sitting on my approval for at least a month now. I'm so torn not sure if I should continue or change to the sleeve. I weigh 280 now and my BMI is 47~. I would love to lose 100 lbs, but with the Bypass I know I will lose more and I don't know if I want that. I think 150 is too small for me, I love my curves lol

    Lost 100 pounds!

Good topic. I have been going back and forth between the VSG and RNY myself. I got approved for the RNY but now I'm thinking to change to the sleeve. @ I've been asking those same questions to myself. I haven't really told anyone about the surgery except for my daughter and parents. My parents are not having it at all so I pretty much keep it to myself. I think that's why this decision is so hard.....no one to really talk it thru. Yes we have the forum but it's more personal than that.

  12. Good question. I have a kid soul and I love Six Flags, since I had my son haven't been able to fit into the rides. It's actually a personal goal of mines once I have surgery.

    Lost 100 pounds!

Why do so many people stall? Is this only with the Sleeve? Were you pretty active pre-op? I can't even imagine running to my car much less a mile. lol
  14. BCBS of IL approved me in 5 days. Congrats!
  15. Interesting topic. I'm still pre-op but I figured I would keep it to myself, didn't know if was something I should mention. I've been single for at least 4 yrs now, I guess when/if I start dating it's something I need to think about. A friend of mines had the Bypass done before she started dating this guy for years. She told him she had it done and he didn't believe her. He said he couldn't imagine her fat. lol
  16. I was thinking the same thing b/c I'm only 38. I initially started my journey w/ the Sleeve in mind and recently changed it to the Bypass. I even got approved by my ins last week for the Bypass but since then I cannot seem to wrap my head around it. My surgeon said both procedures would be great for me, but of course RNY would lose more weight. I'm 279 now and my goal is lose at least 100 lbs. I think I can do it w/ the Sleeve my problem is snickers and lays potato chips. I literally eat a snicker and snack size chips every night, but otherwise I can control my portions. It's the occasional snacking but is that enough reason to do the bypass? I even thought about putting the whole ordeal on hold until I feel completely comfortable with my decision. The Bypass scares me and I want a "normal" life.
  17. My surgeon goal weight is 150, but I think that's too small. My daughter weighs around that and she's a teenager. In no shape of form do I want to get so low. I love my curves and would be happy at 170/180.
  18. I wouldn't press charges she is your mom for heavens sake, but I would report the charges to your bank. Just explain it wasn't you and they will investigate. Why should you have to suffer due to her actions? No matter what you choose to do focus on yourself and stay blessed.
  19. AT 5+ years, I am still a work in progress. I still maintain at 55% EWL. I gained over 35 pounds in the last year+. Easy as pie. Literally. I can eat anything, and in large amounts if spread over time. I still do not drink with meals unless I have breakfast out which is not often. I reach for food when emotional or stressful situations come up. I know it... I watch it, I work on it. I mostly write down what I eat, and watch Protein, but those weeks that I don't, I gain. It is not easy to get off. Yes the sleeve still works. I eat less at any sitting... protein first really makes me feel full faster. I continue exercise, and recommitted again.... just finished the 5 day "pouch" test with a 5 pound loss and a lowering of the Carb addiction. One step at a time. The head has to be in the game, just like before weight loss surgery. The sleeve helps... it is a tool, just like they say, and has helped me to maintain at least 50 pound loss for 5 years. I had a weight gain at 2+ years and worked to get to goal after that... so I know I can do it. I think for me, this is something I need to watch and plan every day.... when I don't I gain. I am very happy I got the sleeve though.... VERY HAPPY. Kindle, so true! I didn't see that. @@feedyoureye - Is putting on the weight post-op much easier than it was pre-op? During the week I'm pretty structured but on the weekends I tend to be a little more relax. I normally eat whatever I want, but I still have been losing weight. I think it's because I walk an hour each day. I'm still in the pre-op stage but I was recently approved for the Bypass. I'm thinking of having the approval changed to the VSG because the RNY scares me.

  22. I mentioned it to my parents, sister and daughter. If I didn't need the support I probably would've kept it to myself.
  23. Hi msmreed47, Welcome to the site. If you don't mind me asking why are you doing the revision? What are your stats?
