It's located on their website, but I know it's the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Skokie Hospital.

Decisions, Decisions
nyseness replied to MusicMom1384's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe both surgeries remove the hormone, but remember it will return. I seen it return faster w/ the sleeve. I started wanting the Sleeve but changed my mind after I finished my 6 month supervised visits. The Bypass was a better option for me. Have you tried speaking to your surgeon? What is his recommendation? -
I agree I only wanted to do the WLS once and the Bypass have a better long-term successful rate. Now I would say if I could do it again I would probably go with the DS. The rate is even better and I like the malabsorptive part of it.

I'm almost a year out and I'm still only eating 1000 calories 40-55g carbs and 80-90g of protein per day. Since working out opens your appetite I usually up my protein on those days per my NUT. Have you been experiencing a stall? You could be eating too much but I would speak to your NUT for advise.

Almost at goal… New hair loss?
nyseness replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My team cannot provide a reason for the hair loss. It varies, but I agree check your levels or just try taking another supplement for the hair loss. -

I don't think vitamins have anything to do with it. I have been taking my vitamins daily and protein since day 1 and my hair still thinned out. -
Was 169 your GW or was that the GW your surgeon recommended? I'm 177 now but feel like I have to get down to 160 to at least explore plastics. I feel like I haven't lost enough yet.

Recreational marijuana usage post Gastric Sleeve surgery
nyseness replied to existentialfatty's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No I'm old school I'm good with a joint or blunt. I still smoke and had no problems since. I gave it a break to be sure I completely healed after surgery and no my doctor team does not know. I told the I smoked cigarettes, which I have never touched in my life. Not a fan. -
Recreational marijuana usage post Gastric Sleeve surgery
nyseness replied to existentialfatty's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi Existentialfatty, I'm almost 11 months out and I am also a recreational smoker. I took a break post-of for 2 months. -
It can vary for each individual, but yes dumping can be in the form of diarrhea, vomiting, shakes, sweats, cramping/pain, rapid heartbeat, etc. It happened to me a few times when I had some hot chocolate. Now I try to dilute with water and drink only half of the cup.

Sleeve or bypass
nyseness replied to Carol Blackburn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, I also went back and forth but ultimately went with Bypass. I wanted to lose as much as possible and it is gold standard. I seen too many issues w/ the sleevers along with the revisions. -
Dating in 2017, what is "dating" mean anyway? lol
nyseness replied to vsgClarese's topic in Singles Forum
I've been single for over 5 years now and never really thought about dating. I am pretty content but people has been asking and I'm wondering if maybe I should give it a shot. -
Thanks!

I have to agree with the others. For the first 6 months I would focus more on water protein and vitamins. Not much on calories and working out. Let the food/protein do the work, then later you can always go back to the gym. You'll also notice working out will also open up your appetite, so for now just stick to brisk walking. I almost 11 months and it took me a while to actually get it. I went from walking to the gym 6 days a week. Now my body is feeling it and my doctor recommended physical therapy. The gym has not helped me lose weight, but it does help with toning and building muscle. Since I'm trying to lose this last 27 lbs soon I'm going to cut back on the gym and up my protein. I noticed I was losing more without the gym.

Gastric bypass or sleeve? How did you choose? Anyone 5 years out of surgery?
nyseness replied to LoveLife4U's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No I think that is the misconception was the Bypass. Only 30% of patients get dumping, but I do get queasy if I eat too fast and don't chew my food good enough. I had surgery July '16, I'm 10 months out. -

nyseness replied to LoveLife4U's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree with your NUT, either Bypass or the Duodenal Switch (DS). I see too many people end up doing revisions to Bypass after doing the sleeve. This was one of the reasons why I changed my mind as well. This surgery is a huge deal and I didn't want to go under the knife more than once. After all the Bypass is the standard of all WLS. The sleeve only gives you restriction, but with the Bypass you get both the restriction and malabsorption (not as much as the DS though). I say do your research speak with ppl that did both. -
7 months out- hit a big wall. Not losing at all
nyseness replied to mi75's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks for the update. I too wish I had the dumping but I do feel sick if I eat too much too fast. -
I've been single for over 5 years and I have to say I don't miss being in a relationship. However, I could use a friend to hang up. I had to let a lot go along the way. I was so tired of pretending.

nyseness replied to mi75's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I still go to the support groups each month. And I seen my bariatric team every 3 months to stay on track. They have been helpful, for me I just try to stay away from junk food. My portion control is good -

It's definitely the carbs. I'm still on a low carb diet roughly 50-60 net carbs per day, but I do allow a cheat day on Sundays. Just to shake up the routine a bit. I used to average about 70-80 grams a day. Now I'm at 85-95 on my workout days only. And that depends on which one I do that day. I do AquaFit, Step plus abs, Body works plus abs, and some light weight training. I try not to do much weight training since I'm still in the losing stage. I'm still only eating 3 meals a day with a protein shake.
