If you read my first post again I didn't insult you and I was positive while disagreeing with you. I even encouraged you. I never claimed anyone was lying. I don't think anyone is outright lying to you. I think they're misinformed. If having an opinion that differs from yours is a downer, inflammatory, and discouraging to you, I'd say you're probably in for a tough ride in life in general. I do wish you the best of luck in your journey. I didn't tell you what I knew to hurt you. No one wants to hear it. I wish Water aerobics were as effective! I love them and prefer them go hard, grueling workouts! That just isn't the case unfortunately. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -

it's not a race, dear. it's a marathon. This is a forever for the rest of your life change. you would probably think I am loosing slowly. WHO CARES. I am loosing. and in fact, I think people who loose more slowly making real, sustainable changes are far more likely to KEEP the weight off.Agreed. But as I stated in my previous reply, I imagine her doc was likely encouraging her to push herself in her honeymoon period. You don't get that time back. If you have worked with these world renowned trainers, why is your BMI so high? While I don't appreciate anything about your question I will still answer it. It was many years ago and I wasn't able to keep working with them for a myriad of reasons. I haven't worked out in years and haven't worked out with a trainer in many more years. I lost a lot of weight with the trainers and then my financial situation and living situation changed. My bmi increased drastically after I lost everything in a house fire a year ago. You're right, personal trainers can train anyone. I have worked with regular trainers at gyms and renowned trainers that are known for working with morbidly obese people and have helped them shed 300+ lbs in a year without surgery. It was explained to me by pointing out that while working out on land you are carrying all of your weight. That is obviously a harder workout than if you're in the Water. And if the workout is easier, in most cases it isn't as effective. I agree anything is better than nothing. And you will lose some with water workouts. It will just always pale in comparison. Water is great if your injured and literally can't do a thing else, but it will never be as effective as walking or running. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -

Again, let me reiterate a third time, no one said you can't lose weight with Water aerobics. You can. But it pales in comparison to the weight lost with walking, running, elliptical, etc. The people who benefit from it the most are the people that have a lot more weight to lose and those people would still lose double plus some if they did their workout outside of the pool. Or did vigorous laps. It isn't my belief. It is a fact. Plain and simple. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -

I in fact have been to a Water aerobics class. I have been to dozens of trainers. I have worked with some the best trainers in the country for morbidly obese people. I have never met with or worked with a trainer that didn't agree with everything your doctor said. No one is saying you won't lose weight with water aerobics. You will. But it will be 1-2 lbs compared to 20+. The people who will have the most success with it are the people who have more to lose. People who have more than 130 to lose. You have a lot of nice people being nice and holding your hand here. At the end of the day, wouldn't you rather hear the truth that is going to make you the most successful you can be? Anyone else set for 4/20 or there abouts?
PissiChrissi replied to Andi07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit a stall all last week too. Finally emerged from it today. I think my stall is mainly because I'm just sitting at home recovering. I took May off to recover. I think once I'm more active it will get better. Same problem with breaking out and also didn't get my period this month (though it's been a bit weird last several months due to weight fluxuation). I can also eat anything and have cheated a little but not much. I'm finding I'm hungry and trying to satiate my hunger w premier protein shakes when I can. I made a trip to trader Joe's today and picked up some noms. I'm down 38lbs total so far (27 of that from pre opp diet). I can't wait to REALLY start losing!! Also, is he trying to push your hard during your honeymoon period of your surgery? Maybe because it's harder to lose after 8-12 months. If you "waste time on water aerobics" during that phase, that might be considered good time lost for him. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -

PissiChrissi replied to Beck90's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, so you asked. I know this isn't what you want to hear, and I hate to be the ass in this thread that agrees with the surgeon who everyone now hates, but he is correct. Water aerobics aren't bad for you but you do not exert yourself enough for big numbers to fall off the scale. If you HAVE to do water due to injuries the best thing to do is laps. Lots of them and fast. That being said a stationary bike is also ineffective. It might do a little, and yes, it will give your heart rate up which is good for heart health but it will not be very effective at shedding lbs. Have you tried an eleptical machine? Those are great for low impact. Your doc might not have a great way of delivering the message, but he's not wrong. Try to not let it get you down and find something that will actually WORK for you! Good luck!! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -

Dyeing hair before surgery?
PissiChrissi replied to juliawhatever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a bottle blonde so my stylist bleaches my hair. I got it done a cpl weeks before surgery. She warned me about anesthesia causing hair loss and I knew weight loss did the same. I'm 4 weeks out and haven't experienced any hair loss that isn't normal for me. My hair is soft, silky, and healthy still. I'm sure that will change deeper into my weight loss but so far so good. As cliche as it may sound... You need to walk.. And walk and walk some more..buy day 5 my Gas was gone.. Get rest but sip and walk .. That was the only relief ! I'm 1 week post op..That Gas pain was real...How much walking is enough? I'm having trouble standing up straight as it is My surgeon said to walk every 2 hrs when you're awake. When it was late and raining I'd walk in place in my apartment. It is the only thing that gets rid of the gas pains. Mine were gone about 5 days post opp too. Trouble deciding between Sleeve or Bypass....why did you choose bypass?
PissiChrissi replied to gina171's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started with a bmi of 66 and opted for sleeve based on my research and testimonials from friends and family. Dumping syndrome sounds like something I never want to experience. I also know people who got bypass who still years later aren't able to eat raw veggies. I understand that everyone's experience is different but it seems that more people have issues with bypass. The other deciding factor was the lose skin situation. You lose a little slower with the sleeve so you have a better fighting chance with less lose skin. For most of us it's just unavoidable, however if there's anything I can do to circumvent it, I'm gonna! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -

Sleeved 4/20 and I miss my morning coffee soo much! I got very used to having it with Isopure Protein powder too for my pre opp diet. It's so much easier to get all my protein in that way. I want my Starbucks double shot! I want my morning coffee! Dr office said I have to wait until 6 weeks out! Anyone have coffee before then? Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois
PissiChrissi replied to LadyWarren's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBSIL and had the surgery 4/20. Had 1 little hiccup along the way because they require the facility you have your surgery at to be a "blue standard" facility. I had no pre opp diet before their decision that I read a lot of others have to do. It only took me 2 months from my first appointment to my surgery date and that's with having to start over with a new surgeon. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -
My surgeons office said they tell everyone 6 weeks. I've had all kinds of caffeine free tea post opp but alas, it is not the same. I feel like my tummy would tolerate it. They say the reasoning is because caffeine could irritate the staple line. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

Walk, walk, walk, and then walk some more! Walk every 2 hrs minimum when you're awake. When I first came home I'd schedule my walks right after my pain meds kicked in. It will get better soon! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

Anyone else set for 4/20 or there abouts?
PissiChrissi replied to Andi07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 20th. I've had very little pain, no nausea, I've been going to the bathroom ok, and I'm on to the baby food consistency this week. I've admittedly been cheating a bit and just chewing thoroughly before swallowing. I'm having a little trouble getting in all my protein and water but I feel good so I'm not stressing it too much at this point in the game. I lost 23 lbs on my 2 week pre opp diet, gained 6 in the hospital due to fluids. Now I'm down 32 lbs total. I'm in sales so I opted to take more time off work so I've been home and will take the rest of May off. I literally cannot WAIT to start actually seeing the weight loss! I'm so impatient! I was sleeved on 4/20. I've had 0 complications, no nausea since being home, and have been on the cream Soup, pudding, etc diet since I got released on Friday. I am actually noticing that I am hungry. And craving eggs. If egg drop soup is allowed, really how much different is a poached egg? You guys think I could do a poached egg? My surgeons office tried to push those on me too. Ask your dr what the requirements from that brand they're looking for like cals per day, Protein per day, and how often they want you having shakes. I substituted premier Protein Shakes 3-4x per day and did broth and sugar free Popsicles. I lost weight and didn't have any problems in surgery and no complaints from my dr.
