  3. Thank you for the responses and tips! I'm trying not to think about it too much. The two major surgeries I've had were c-sections and having a new baby sort of takes your mind off all the yucky surgery stuff. This time I won't have any instantaneous reward like that! Haha. I know it will be worth it. I have 120 lbs to lose. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Thank you all for responding! I think the possibility of post op nausea is what's got me the most worried! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. You could make your own - add in some Peanut Butter, bananas, heavy cream, etc. make it nice and carb loaded - a handful of spinach would give more Vitamins too! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Almost 7 months out and...

What are you eating? Do you track your foods? Medication can be a tough one. I'm on a med for my anxiety that is known for weight gain. I do plan to get off it after my surgery (scheduled for 4/4)...but my health anxiety was getting the best of me so I had to get back on it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I also was shocked. I will prob do what feels best for me. I will focus on getting my required 60g of Protein and 64 oz of Water and keep my carbs under 50g a day. I'm not too awfully concerned about the calories at this point. I will track my food in myfitnesspal so I'm aware. But 500 calories is nothing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Thank you for that video @@Babbs I do wonder if my surgeons office is setting me up for failure. They want you to eat 500 calories and 15g or less of carbs until you meet your weight loss goal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Oh that's interesting. What would a slider food be? Something like potato chips? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Blood while pooping

  18. My surgery is in a few weeks so I haven't been sleeved yet. But I do have to say that anytime I've dieted in the past (i.e. Removed my drug of choice - food) I have become really irritable during the beginning stages. There's prob a lot of things going on - hormones and such. But whatever triggered you to eat is still there and now it's likely surfacing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Resolution of IBS

I asked my surgeon about this as I also suffer from IBS. He told me that it should have really no affect on it - but that some people see relief from it due to their dietary changes. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I have been considering starting my low carb diet this week. My surgery is scheduled for 4/4. I do have a one week liquid diet to follow before the surgery, but I still think it can't hurt for me to start weaning off the bad carbs now. And I drink 1-2 cups of coffee every morning and I know I'll have to initially give that up. And I'll def get headaches! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. My surgeon said you can only have fruit in the maintenance phase and then you have to eat it at a meal, never alone. Pair it with a Protein so your insulin doesn't spike as much. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. So my surgery is scheduled for 4/4 so I haven't been sleeved yet. My surgeon did tell me that they want you to do a 4 week liquid diet after surgery. That in and of itself is overwhelming, but it is what it is. What I seem to have the most trouble wrapping my head around is the first two weeks it's Clear liquids only. Ugh. Has anyone else gone through this? And it's all sugar and carb free. I went to the Vitamin shoppe today to start gathering some things to try so I'll have a plan and provisions after surgery and they had almost none of my approved Protein items in stock. Most of them were not the low carb options. I did get some clear Isopure drinks but he warned me that they taste terrible. I do appreciate that my surgeon seems to err on the side of caution. He said the longer liquid diet protocol has dropped their leak rate to almost zero. He also does some sort of extra step that anchors the sleeve so it cannot become kinked and lessens the likelihood you'll get a hernia. I am just mentally trying to gear up for this whole thing and I feel scared. Scared of surgery, scared of leaving my two kids without a mom (dramatic I know), and scared of a super long liquid diet! Any tips/advice would be much appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Everything tastes gross!

That seems pretty soon for soft foods but I know everyone is different. I would personally just try to drink Protein shakes and meet your daily Fluid goals. My surgeon requires a 4 week liquid diet after surgery. Perhaps you're just not ready. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Four week liquid diet....

@@LisaLouBop It straight up tasted like rotten eggs and smelled a bit like a sewer. I'm not exaggerating. Is that normal? How can anyone drink it?! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
