Alex Brecher just posted on this thread about people being bullys and to knock it off. And here you come insulting the OP once again.
-
Oh, what a delight, another troll! My dear, I assure you I am not now nor have I ever been a "meek" person nor have I ever been someone who is going to allow someone to bully me, particularly someone so callow as to bleep out their own use of curse words. Come now, if you're going to use obscenties to try to hurt and demean someone, particularly a gender specifc one intended to degrade women, do it right, use ALL the letters!. Neat trick you're trying to pull to make it appear that it is I and not you and your ill-natured ilk who are being ugly to people in this forum. But, tsk, tsk, @@4mybabies, people aren't quite that dumb, we can all read the entire thread for ourselves, but nice try! I know that you and your shrill friends think that if you just yell really loud and call people names and insult people that they will stop standing up to you, but it's simply not going to work with me. What you don't know is that a number of people on this site have emailed me privately over the past few days. They are all sick and tired of the mean girl posse running roughshod over them when they are here looking for a support community. So, I speak for myself as well as for them when I say: avast, mean girls, your days of terrorizing us are numbered! What she said

@@Bama2012, Yes!! Thank you!! Ok if I PM you?
-
This is news is assuring. I appreciate you taking the time to alleviate some of my fears. You have been progressing so nicely. I am very happy for you Bama2012. You too cmunne!

Everything you are saying resonates with me. There are aspects of DS that really scare me like; long recovery time, high cost of supplements, extreme diarrhea and gas..but ultimately I think this is the surgery I should be doing...if I can just get passed the worry of these issues.
-
@@Bama2012 Thanks for your help. I do not have diabetes or high blood pressure. I am however 49yrs old and 300lbs at 5'7". I keep reading that surgeons and patients often decide on DS because of weight related health issues. Do you think I am considering too drastic of a surgery without having these complications?
-
Thanks cmunne. I will. And please continue to post your experiences here. I was supposed to have made my decision about which surgery to have, sleeve or ds, by early july but my money situation has put me back to waiting until late august or early september. So now I have even more time to make myself crazy with the choice. I would be so grateful for any insight you can give me about your experience, good or bad.

Also, I am self pay so any additional days required would come out of my already empty pocket.

The surgeon I will be using runs a center of excellence and has all the highest accolades a bariatric surgeon can receive. He also did a fellowship at Duke and is very good at what he does. I have done my research so I believe he is the best choice. The reason I worry about the amount of time spent at the hospital is that my surgeon and the hospital I will be using is an hour and a half away. My adult daughter will be accompanying me and she will be staying in a hotel. She has been with me every step on this journey, even going on a diet with me and going to all my appts. She is concerned about losing more time from work and I would hate to put even more on her shoulders by needing her to stay in a hotel a better part of a week. No way she would leave me there.
-
cmunne,Thanks for the update. Sounds like you are doing well. How was the pain and gas? Did you have laparoscopic surgery? My surgeon said DS only required an overnight stay. He does only laparoscopic.
-
Update? I am considering DS and it would be oh so helpful to hear how it is going for you.

7 year veteran slowly gaining weight.....HELP!

Are you talking about the DS?!! My understanding is that it is the very best there is for maintaining and keeping the weight off. -
Will WLS work if the problem isn't overeating?
ridgerunner replied to WitchySar's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@WitchySar If you are still reading comments have you looked into the duodenal switch? It is super malabsorptive for fats and eating carbs will give most people severe diarrhea and flatulance. Very good reasons to cut them out in my opinion. -

When I saw what this poster said about not overeating but still being fat I had two reactions 1) this girl is in denial. 2) This poor girl is gonna get tore up. So I was happy to see that some of us backed up what she is saying with good points. There is a large array of reasons why people are overweight. As vast and varying as people themselves. Thanks to those who reminded me of that and sorry to the poster for thought #1. -

Maybe an ipad is different? I am using an android phone.

On my phone, if I am at the top of a catagory page, like for instance there trending, unread etc, there will be a blue dot in the bottom right hand corner that has a plus symbol on it. You click on that and then click on the pen/pencil then follow prompts.
-
As far as I understand it, any chewing gum that is sugar free is also low calorie.
-
New Mia,That was my comment. I will check out your suggestion. Thanks! And if your phone app is like mine, you just click on the little bent arrow at the bottom right hand corner by the "like" icon of the post you want to reply to and then follow the prompt to write a reply and send. Easy peasy.

I stopped using myfitnesspal just because I felt like the calories it said I should be taking in was no where close to what I could meet.. I'm so lost in this journey right now because I don't even know what I can eat anymore! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I am pre op and had the oppisite problem with myfitpal, it was allowing way too many calories...but then I discovered that you can go to: SETTINGS PROFILE GOALS CALORIE AND MACRONUTRIENT GOALS CALORIES To change it to what ever your personal goal is. (You can also change the macro settings on Protein, carbs and fat)

@@Valentina I am still a month away from WLS but I have been training myself the past several months to eat close to how I will eat later so I am prepared. (And I am gathering info for later use.)

Thanks for sharing insight into what the first few days might be like. Congratulations and good luck!

I've heard those a excruciating, sorry this happened to you. Were they able to give you pain meds? How far out from WLS were you? How much Fluid were you averaging a day? Hope you are doing better.
