    Nervous about surgery

@@jmc534 I couldn't agree more. I'm about the same weight and feel the same about winter I'm more ashamed for what I've let happen to me than I am about having the surgery. I guess they go hand in hand to some extent. But it's time to take control and make myself better for me and my family. I want to be excited to do things with my kids and not dread it because of my weight or how I feel in my clothes.

    Nervous about surgery

I'm scheduled for surgery 3/31 and feel the same way. I have decided I'm not going around telling everyone I run into that I'm having surgery but if someone asks I will be honest. I don't want to have to lie and I want to be proud of myself and the big changes I will be making. Not ashamed to admit I need some help. I think it's harder to admit that and do something about it than keep things the way they are. Nothing to be ashamed of, we are taking control of our lives and our health!! Be proud! You will not fail you will have great progress, we all will!

    MARCH SLEEVERS?

I didn't realize just how nervous I was until I went to my pre-op appointment today. High blood pressure due to nerves and they didn't even do anything but talk to me. So many emotions right now, I can't even explain half of them! Hope everyone who has already had their march surgery is doing well. I've got 10 more days to go!

    C section vs VGS

I was curious about this as well. 10 days until my sleeve surgery. I have had three c sections (one emergency following 12 plus hours of labor) and I survived those. Hard to get up and moving right away but this seems easier as far as recover....I guess only time will tell.

    Tall ladies!

I'm 5' 9" (not sure if that's considered tall) and the high end of "normal" for my age and height is 169 pounds. Any more than that and my BMI would be over a normal range. So that's my goal 169

    Shakes and vitamins

Check out insurenutrition.com it might be a helpful site as they try to get insurance to cover both those things for you and then they supply it. I haven't done it as its a lot of paperwork I just haven't taken the time to do it

    MARCH SLEEVERS?

March 31st. Getting excited, it's honestly all I think about lately!
  15. Awesome binder. You seem very prepared!
  16. Sounds like they sent you your benefits. It may be that your plan doesn't have any specific requirements. That's good. However, anthem has a medical policy which most likely has specific requirements. I would call back and ask about that ask to speak with a supervisor of you aren't getting you questions answered with detail. Your doctors office may also have experience working with them and might know the medical policy, you could ask the surgery coordinator.

    Why did I do this?

I'm still pre-op, scheduled for March 31st. I've come to believe that this is kind of like having a baby in the sense that you hear all the wonderful things and aren't exactly prepared for how the actually initial experience is. Part of human nature is to remember things better than they were so the stories we read don't always include every single bad detail. Also the reward in the end is so great that it's worth the sacrifices in the begin, at least that's what I'm hoping for Hope you feel better soon and are able to practically forget this in six months.
  18. What state is your bcbs policy through? I have bcbs il and the medical policy is on line. You should be able to call customer service and ask what is the criteria for the procedure to be a covered benefit.

    March Surgery!

Just found out today that my surgery is scheduled 3/31 @ 12:15. I decided on 1/27 I was going to do this and moved through all the pre-op stuff quickly. Luckily my insurance didn't require the six month supervision or anything outside of what my surgeons office does anyway. I just can't believe it is going to really happen. Excited and nervous all at the same time! My one week pre-op liquid diet will be during my youngest daughters birthday and Easter so that will present challenges but it will prepare me for my new way of eating.
