What was most difficult and what surprised you?
teedsg replied to LighterMe's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That's great! Did you have any co-morbidities before surgery? Or, were you pretty much healthy, but bigger? I'm just wondering because many people tell me "I'm not that big", but I feel huge and everything hurts and I have obstructive sleep apnea.I was mostly healthy until September 2015. I was working out with a trainer three times a week and doing great. That September, I fell and tore my PCL. The pain was agonizing. I couldn't walk for weeks. The doctor said that they no longer operate unless the ligament is torn completely off, and the only treatment is strength training and weight loss. By Christmas, I had developed plantar fasciitis in my other leg. I had gone from being very fit to being a near invalid in three months. January I went to my first pre-op meeting. I did not have sleep apnea, hypertension, diabetes, or anything like that. So my operation was relatively safe and routine. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App That's great to hear. I pray my nerves will calm down soon. I will be fine... -

WebMD: Identifying binge-eating "disorder"
teedsg replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is good. But, here are some resources with local help in most states and online help as well. I'm glad this is free. I will join the online support group. They have meetings daily on both sites. Overeaters Anonymous – Find an Overeaters Anonymous group in your area and learn how the 12-steps apply to binge eating recovery. (Overeaters Anonymous) Eating Disorders Anonymous – Find support and group meetings with other eating disorder sufferers in your area. (Eating Disorders Anonymous) -

Where do you get Torani sugar free syrup? I wonder how much that costs in my area. I have to be careful with coffee. It gives me cysts in my breasts.

@@Bypass2017, great! can you switch out the pill to some drops or a chewable? Chewing a capsule sucks!

Hi All, Yesterday, I completed my last 6 month nutritional visit. I think it's now setting in that I'm about to have the RNY. I don't have a surgery date yet. I don't know how I'm going to figure out how to set my liquids, eating, and Vitamin schedule from post surgery til forever. Is there an app for this? Paid or free? Thanks everyone!

@@emardee, I love the vanilla just as they are. I like the idea of having it with coffee. I may try that as well.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Hey lady, we care about you and we want you to be safe. So, I would like to suggest going to a church, salvation army, asking a clergyman, a nursing student, or you may need to hire someone on Care.com. Please don't sell yourself short by doing this without help for 48 hours. I pray you find someone honest and helpful during this time and that you can develop more friends. Only a small stepping stone to help you get your surgery. Maybe there's someone on BP that's in your area who wouldn't mind helping you out temporarily. Thank you so much. I am actually going to a church in my area for service on Sunday. I'll ask if they might have someone or know of someone low cost. Sent from my Y538 using the BariatricPal App Amen! Give us an update once you have someone. And, keep us posted after surgery!

@@Bypass2017, how are you doing now? Start taking 20-30 bites per chew...

@@Angelica Marti, if a person has any bad relationship with food, sweets, caffeine, etc, they have to deal with that before they have surgery. There are a lot of resources online and therapy for people who have eating disorders, binge eating disorders, sweet eaters, and behavior therapy that can help. Gherlin is still there, so, it's totally mental before and after surgery to make the right choices. Only a tool, not a miracle... I'm battling this daily even now and I haven't had surgery yet. :-(

WOW! I guess this didn't bother you.

@@Travelher, I use SparkPeople to track food. I guess I mean the timing of what time to take Vitamins, liquids, etc because you have to wait 30 minutes after you eat to drink, you can't take a Multivitamin with Calcium and Iron, etc. :-( I guess I need a timer.

@@VSG_FireMedic, that's great! I just did my last 6 month diet visit yesterday. I need to get my letter of recommendation from my PCP tomorrow and then, it will be submitted to my insurance. I'm so excited, nervous, and overwhelmed at the same time. Do you know how you're going to plan your liquids and Vitamins post-op? I have no idea how to do this just yet. I need an app.
