  1. Hi, @@LifeRejuvenated, I would suggest that you Not eat 500 calories a day. It's not possible to keep that goal life long. I'm in my 6month diet visits as well, and it's a lot of information at one time. So, try it and, this plan will force you to eat the right way. ☺ The thing I'm still struggling with is drinking 30 min before and after you eat.
  2. Ok, I have the same thing. The insulin resistance is a kicker though, but that can be reversed and the PCOS symptoms will become mild. As you already know, the longer your body goes without the bad foods, the better you'll be. So even if you go several months without junk food, your body will still know what to do even if you eat junk food every now and then. It will process out the sugar and junk food the right way instead of processing everything you eat and drink into sugar. So keep up the good work. I'm still on the 6 month pre-op visits. Within past 7 days, I finally cut out all sugary foods and drinks and all flour, low carbs and fat. Ive been a vegetarian for 2 months. I was finally able to lose 10 lbs. Now, I'm afraid if I keep losing this weight, I may not be eligible for surgery. My highest weight was 240. My doctor said not to get to 205 by January. Doing all of this is hard, but I keep reminding myself of the final result. Most of all, I keep encouraged by reading these posts..
  3. @@MindyMe, Do you have PCOS? If so, this could be the problem. Get back on the wagon and keep going! Sometimes the body wants to hang on to what your eating, but stay on the liquid diet for another week, then, get on the scale. You can do this!
  4. @@mngreeneyes, What a great inspirational story. I'm praying more good things come your way!

    Diet visits done!

@chappex3, Congrats! You've gotten over a huge hurdle. I'm on my 2nd month now. :-)
  9. Planning on going to a popular surgeon in Atlanta Georgia, but lately, every time I call the office, they dont answer. Their answering service always picks up. I hear he's great, but if I can't reach them, what's the point? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  10. @@proudgrammy, Yes, I'm an official patient, and I went to my nutritional visits, and had my psych evaluation. Not sure what's going on. I have questions and I can't get through to them. I do remember the lady who took my vitals looked to be pregnant, but still, they could've hired someone else who was on maternity leave. Not sure, what's going on.
  11. @@swimbikerun, Yes, I've emailed them several times and they have responded. But, for the past 2 weeks, they haven't emailed me back or called. I am a patient , too.
  12. @@Cervidae, Congrats on your weight loss. You have given me hope that it will work for me too. I do have a concern about mild, regurgitation. Sometimes I have that in the back of my throat after I eat. This is a new symptom for me. And, my body aches real bad after I sit or lay down for a while and then get up. My body is changing and it's weird because I'm not that old, but I feel like I am.
  13. Hi, I am 37 and I started my weight loss journey on July 28th. I attended my first nutritional visit on 8-11-16, and i had my psychological visit. I am a new vegetarian. I weighed in at 5'4, 234 with the surgeon, and 241 with my nutritionist. So far I've only lost 3 lbs with this new lifestyle. I have PCOS symptoms of acne, weight gain, irregular periods, mood swings. I'm so frustrated with all of this! Which surgery option is best for my situation? Is there anyone out there with success with PCOS and weight loss surgery? I'm also thinking of going to another surgeon, because every time I call or email them, I get their live voicemail and they won't return my call or email. 14. @@daniotra, That's good information. When I meet with my nutritionist again, I'll bring it up. At my first meeting with her, all she said was to follow the 2-1-1 rule. Make sure I pay attention to the food labels and get foods with at least 2 digit protein, 1 digit fat and 1 digit carbs. And, I've been following that.
  15. @@Hiraeth geez! I feel your pain. I'm glad of your progress though. I haven't been able to lose that much weight in 5 years. But, I feel more confident in my decision knowing that some one else has gone through a similar journey with success. ????
  16. @hiareth Thanks for your response. How long have you had PCOS? I just recently got diagnosed about 6months ago. But, I've suspected symptoms since December 2015.
  17. Thank you! I'll try not to get discouraged. ☺
  18. Yes, my surgeon knows I'm taking phentermine. That's great you have lost that much weight on your own. Yes, about the carbs, make sure their under 10g. I hope it goes fast too. ???? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  19. Hi,I'm in the same situation as you. My proposed sleeve date is February 2017, too. I'm taking phentermine until probably Jan. My PCOS is so bad that it's beating up the phentermine. I don't think it's helping because I am constantly gaining weight. My first appointment with the surgeon was on July 28th. I weighed in at 234. And, when I went to my first nutritional visit, I weighed 241. Today, I'm at 238. If I lose 20lbs during the 6months I will be happy. Anyway, if you gain weight they might delay your surgery, but I think you'll be fine. Remember to use your nutritional labels like this: Carbs - 1 digit number Fats - 1 digit number Protein- 2 digit number Don't eat the food if it doesn't match this guide. Doing it this way should work. Best of luck on your journey. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  20. If I use my insurance, doctors say I can't gain any weight during nutritional visits, but I'm a PCOS patient. I've been on metformin for about 3 weeks and no progress. The pound I lost must have gained that pound plus 1. Thinking about doing self pay instead. Has this happened to any one? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

  22. Yes,Weaning off the unhealthy choices is better for me. I started with soda. I may drink 1 or 2 a week at most. I need to track my food. Starch and carbs is another tough spot for me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

  24. Ok, cool. I hear some ppl saying they're losing weight on metformin, but not me. I take 500 mg twice a day. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  25. Hi everyone, What else can I eat for Breakfast besides, meat, eggs, and Protein shakes? Breakfast and snacking is my area of weakness. I'm still teetering between being a self pay and using my insurance. A part of me is saying let's pay and get it over with and the other side of me is saying let's go long and slow, but I do know that I need to buckle down and get serious. I'm blessed to not have any comorbid conditions at 5'4, 235lb. However, I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and taking metformin. I've read on other message boards that I may not need weight loss surgery because a low carb lifestyle will take care of this condition , but I also read that when you go off of metformin, it will make you gain weight again. So far, I've been on Metformin for 2 weeks 500 mg twice a day. Happily not gaining weight, and have lost 2 lbs. I hope I can do this for a lifetime. Need some inspiration.
