And I'll add that maybe doing some Googling about the health of wls people years and years out. I don't mean regain stories. Many folks sleeve, bypass, ds eat "whatever" and lose. Years out you see increase in bone breaks, strange nerve problems in legs to name two. My hubs is a PT and sees sick wls post ops regularly. Things there are no cure for.....Maybe th is will help motivate you toward nutrition first. Good luck with your journey. I really think the stuck feeling is because ur body is not ready yet at 3.5 for dense Proteins. You've listed a lot of things at 3.5 months that m6 post op food stage list doesn't allow. The first 5 months are really healing and learning how to live wi th your sleeve. I'd recommend going back to documents from ur surgeon or make an appt with your NUT to review nutritional requirements and needs at the stage you are in. On the Fence About My New PCP
Muted_Tummy replied to DuckieXD's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not to be a debbie downer, but....too important a relationship especially if Mx WLS. If funds and insurance are not an issue, I'd book an appt with another PCP and choose. Use the Internet fiest to find WLS friendly docs....if the far doc was awesome, he/she may be worth the trip. Ur talking 2 weeks 6 weeks, 3, 6 and 12 months appts. For bloods... The only devil's advocate I would play is if you are young or bmi is under 40 and you have no health issues. I dunno your pre op prep, but if you truly tried it all, this is for health not weight loss and fully understand post op life, then oush thru the fear that comes with change. You are worth it. I dunno if this helps but I've had a weight watchers reunion of ... if I don't do it this time, then WLS. Take 2. Take 3. I worry too...we have strong experiences with WL failure that rear their ugly head. Back to WW had the same result...lose 20 lbs, gain it back yo yo yo. This is it. I plan on following a plan, but, I look at it this way, even if for whatever reason I didn't maintain my loss, I'm just back where I started and truly know I did all I could in this life to manage my weight. to snack, or not to snack?
Muted_Tummy replied to GSleeve822's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
and how long does it take to be "ok" with cup of food is it? I still have pre op brain and eyes and tummy. When do you get "used to" such small portions? -
to snack, or not to snack?
Muted_Tummy replied to GSleeve822's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre op but met with NUT. The approach of this team (I like) is moving towards what we are told now to do but can't 4 to 5 mini meals a day (eating ev 3 hours). She said too many restrict calories and capacity too long...onky eat peotein and never work in feuit and veg and occasional grains...said i should be at cup to cup and half of real food by year one...and once maintaining ..should be well over 1000 calories (for most more like 1700 to 2100 a day)...varies based on each body. Said healthiest sleevers who maintain work at eating on a schedule and increase calories and nutrients gradually from 3rd month out, adding more and more real food. I hope this plan works for me as its what I want for myself. Dr Weiner also says compelling things about the Protein first (and usually only) approach not being the way to go for life. Freaking Out...... Maybe I just won't get sleeved
Muted_Tummy replied to aprilnicole's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Review the stats for your surgeon and if you never asked, ask. Wls has similar risks to gall bladder removal, in general. I think the fear comes from this being elective. I have had two surgeries already and one procedure that required intunated anesthesia as well....so I no longer fear the anesthesia. I say something very positive to myself while going under and the next thing you know ur awake. Do the best you can foe your body pre op and if a doc clears you for surgery, you are as ready as you can be. Do you know about plant nanny? If u like games or old school Tamigochi. ...you drink, you get to Water your plant. But, it uses the drink half your body weight oz so just double your required oz per day. Funny way to stay motivated to get your water in. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App -
Can you switch docs for post op care? Also involve your pcp in your after care. Hang in there. This sounds less like sleeve and more like malpractice. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Muted_Tummy replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have had many embarrassing moments that should have been it, but rock bottom trigger was one moment that was my enough is enough...but wasn't right to surgery. I fell, again, in public with my family. That day I declared I was done with this body. I checked in with doc the next week and began a 3 month exploration of labs to see what was what. I got a therapist to talk out my issues with food and if surgery was right for me. I got back on WW to stop gaining. As I came to terms with "yes", the universe presented three past friends and professional colleagues two post op and one pre. That, I guess, sealed the deal. -

Ok..I am a pre op and all I have read is you can't get much down.....what did I miss? Someone on another support forum I am in also got to soft food and also posted she couldn't do it alone and waiting for husband. Since you are passed it (yay..and what awesome pals)...what experience knowledge am I missing that got to you? Or, is this like being afraid to BM after you had a baby (and tear)? The unknown.... -
Looking like a June sleeve
Muted_Tummy replied to Muted_Tummy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I AM lucky. I should try to be more sensitive. My sister had by pass over 5 years ago and it took years for her to get approved (and she was in 300s) and her pre op was very strict. It seems times have changed compared to a lot of what folks went thru a while back. My doc has a sheet of like the top 5 insurance they see and what is required. It's really quite different. -
Met with new surgeon today. Hes great! He said about 3 months to get through their process....which puts me in June. Was hoping since I had started elsewhere I could be fast tracked...May surgery just works better in my life (had other surgeries scheduled in May in the past). I have my NUT and Psych appointments happening in the news two weeks. I have been assigned a healthcare advocate who will schedule my chest xray, Med clearance and (new) bloodwork. Will hear from her in the next two weeks. From there, there is a three week, once per week seminar/class I have to attend once cleared by Nut and Psych. My next appt is May 1st. Who knows maybe I can get it all done in April and early May so I can get early June and not late June. At what point in the process do they give you the actual date? Oh! And no two week prep liquid diet!!! Woo hoo. Will be given a goal by Nut to lose somewhere between 10 to 20...as long as you do not gain, they are good! He said average person in my BMI loses 5 to 10 lbs. Pre op. Day before is Clear liquids and instructions for eating out your system. They're post op food stages are also different than all I have read. Move to mushies sooner, but stay with them longer. Anyway, feeling good we are finally moving again. Hubby's job change halted me on process started in fall. June, here I come! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Muted_Tummy replied to Muted_Tummy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to prove lack of success with weight loss for 6 months...which I already had going in in documented years (thank you WW). I don't have formal approval yet...but, called insurance myself and did all I was supposed to (this is a restart..changed insurance and doc). Meet nut next week and Psych eval (again!) Is the following Monday. I think at that point they submit to insurance for approval (I am already "pre-certified" through my insurance). Then it's just go to classes and prove fit for surgery! Surg said nit would give me a weight loss pre op goal between 10 and 20 lbs....but they stopped turning people away who didn't do it years ago...if you gain, there's an issue. I already lost 7 so I am hoping they count that (have documentation). For myself, I want to lose 20 by the surgery date. So excited! -
