It's a Labor of Love: Labor Day Weight Loss Challenge

I recently discovered some nice trails about 10 minutes outside the city I live in. I've been out there the last 4 days in a row...I just love it out there. I've been walking for 2 hours each time I've gone. There's all kinds of different terrain...at one point I had to go on my bum to get down a path because it was so steep!! Just wanted to share with you guys how free I feel and how I can do anything I want!! As of this morning, I've officially lost half my body weight...I've lost over 165lbs now. Only about 22lbs to go Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Customs and Border protection
rydersmama replied to Veronika Chavez's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I flew from Canada to San Diego, then got picked up and taken across the Mexican border just like you will. I never said anything to the custom/border people unless they asked. I was asked what I did in Tijuana when we arrived back in Canada from customs. I just said "I had weight loss surgery", and the guy just said "ok", and that was the end of that! Nothing to worry about! My husband and I stayed in San Diego an extra day to get a better flight home....you'll like it there. We did a lot of walking around....as much as I could do. Everything will fall into place, don't worry and good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Can we talk carbs?
rydersmama replied to magoosmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completely agree with @Dub. Carbs are what got me to 333lbs in the first place, and I sure am not eating them now while I'm in my weight loss phase. I had my surgery in January and have lost over 160lbs and don't eat any carbs...except for those in the occasional Protein bar. Once I hit maintenance I'll start adding fruits, but until then, I avoid carbs like the plague. This has been what has worked for me. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I weigh my food every time I eat it. I know I can eat 3-4oz at a time, so that's what I weigh out, and that's what I eat. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I have saved hoards of money since having wls...this is hard to admit, but I figured it out and I was spending about $150 per week on junk food alone!! I'd go to the store every second day to fill up on chips and garbage, go home and eat it all, then back to the store. I still can't believe how much money I spent. I've always bought and made sure my family eats healthy....you know how it goes, take care of everyone else before yourself....so my food budget in that respect hasn't changed Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@madadams Hi, I eat very similar to @Dub. I'm 7 1/2 months out. Yes, I get my Protein in every day...usually about 80g. The only time I have a "snack" is if I've done a really extreme workout like long bike ride, bootcamp, hot yoga....on those days I'll have a Protein Bar or some other serving of protein. I've never snacked between meals since surgery simply because I'm not hungry, and I get in all my protein with the 3 meals I have per day. Good luck to you! What's on your plate?
rydersmama replied to missblonde20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 1/2 months out, have lost over 155lbs. My day looks like this... Breakfast; premier Protein shake Lunch; 3-4oz of protein Supper; 3-4oz protein I drink 84oz of Water a day. I don't have a snack unless I've done a really hard workout that day like going to bootcamp, or hot yoga. On those days I will have a protein bar or some other form of protein. I'm just not hungry to eat more than that. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
As of yesterday, I have lost 134lbs and now weigh under 200lbs!! I had my surgery January 11. Start weight was 333.1 Yesterday's weight 199.1 As someone who has spent the majority of my adult life weighing well over 300lbs, this is a huge accomplishment for me. I never thought I would get to this weight. I cried when I saw the scale yesterday. When I had wls, I never really picked a number I wanted to get to as a goal weight....all I wanted was that number to start with a 1!!! Now that I'm here, I feel there's nothing I can't accomplish. I'm still not sure where I want to be yet, but my next goal will be to get to 180lbs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@Cari Dickenson Good for you for reaching your goal weight!! I can't wait to have that feeling...I still haven't decided what I want my goal weight to be...originally it was 180lbs, but now that I weigh under that, I think I want to get to 160lbs. So crazy to even get this far!! We should all be so proud of ourselves!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
-
Just a question for anyone who has reached their goal weight. I'm 5'5". My original goal weight was 180lbs. Because I've spent the majority of my life weighing well over 300lbs, I never thought I could even weigh 180lbs. So I got to 180, and wasn't happy with how I looked, so I'm trying to figure out a new goal weight. I weight 179lbs now, and think I'd like to be around 160. What I'm asking is for anyone who is close to my height to tell me what their goal weight ended up being. And yes, I'm aware that everyone is built differently, and happy at different sizes, I just want an idea of what I should be shooting for. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@Clementine Sky Yes, definetly agree with that. I already have people telling me I'm "too skinny", but I think it's because they're so used to me being 335lbs. I've always been told I'm "big boned", but now that I'm getting to a more normal weight, I'm not so sure about that Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you! I've lost 155lbs now. Based on my bmi, my "normal" would be 145lbs. It seems crazy to me to get to that weight, but hey, 180lbs seemed out of reach too, and here I am, so who knows! @@Babbs, I agree with your thinking....I'm still losing at a pretty significant speed, so I guess I'll just keep going as long as my body lets me.
