What will I be when I grow up?

It is one of the reason I've had the surgery, to be able to achieve my goals. At 49, I finally found my passion, scuba diving. I have done the 1st certification and then was benched because of the weight/joint problems (knees). As soon as the surgeon gives me the go ahead, I'll be taking courses, I've already spoken to my instructor and hopefully by November I'll be a certified professional diver, then I can consider changing careers, even though there are some days I feel I might be too old, but then I think that older people might be happy to have a dive master their ages.... who knows. All I know it that I have to at least try! So I think that whatever you discover that makes you happy go for it... I have to believe it's never too late! -
I was 293 when I had my surgery (8 weeks ago today). I have an office job, lots of computer work thus lots of sitting. I left the hospital on Feb. 18 and went back to work on March 2 (the day after my first follow-up). I was still a bit weak and I tired easily. I was fine but I wished I had taken the rest of that week. But nothing major happened other than sleeping a lot that weekend! I personally think two weeks in the minimum, one week is pushing it! Best of luck to you :-)

I had the same thing... after my shower I had to sit down, same after the dishes or feeding the cat, I just had to stop and rest. It was weakness and fatigue from not eating enough and drinking enough. It did pass though when I finally went on the pureed phase of my program.

I'm six weeks post-op and I'm slowly transitioning out of soft food and introducing regular foods in my diet. My question is whenever I eat something solid (which I chew so much that I basically swallow liquid), my digestion gets really noisy. In a busy environment it goes unnoticed but let's say lunchroom at work, I've stopped conversations. I get really embarrassed but it's not like I can control it. Has this happened to anybody else? Does it stop eventually?

I got my gastric bypass surgery on February 16, 2016. I had been preparing seriously for this surgery for about a year, researching, documenting, and questioning everything from the good, the bad to the ugly, the physical, the emotional and the psychological. As ready as I was, I was not ready for this. I understood intellectually about the lack of appetite, but I had no idea what it meant in real life. I had never not been hungry. I was not ready for the lack of energy. I was not ready for the distaste of some foods that I truly like (the first two weeks pretty much everything – and I loved Protein shakes/smoothies before). Most of all, I was not ready to give up my vegan lifestyle, stepping on my beliefs and go vegetarian for my health for now (proteins), I was sure I could get through this as a vegan. I knew it was going to hard, maddening at times and a struggle. But it’s nothing like I imagine, I’m not struggling where I thought I would. Even though I feel defeated at times, my weight loss is not what I was expecting (yes the week 3 stall), I keep a positive outlook on things. The little things what were horrifying at first are getting better or are gone, so I know things will get better, but I do have to work at it and push myself. But I’m only 3 weeks post-op J

Oh no not together, that's a day'so worth of food. Scrambled eggs are seriously some of the only food that don'the make me queasy. I'very ordered some liquid Protein that are more like juices, maybe that'Lloyd make it easier to get proteinsome in my system and not suffer from great weakness. I'mean at that point where I'might wondering what the heck I'very done to myself. Thanks guys :-)

Hello everyone, I just registered here because I need help. I'm two weeks post-op (February 16). I cannot eat. The first two weeks were a massive struggle to get Protein in. I could not swallow liquid Protein, they are gave me nausea, so I ate vegetable Soup (blended of course) and drank Water. Monday this week, I had the staples removed and pretty much go called an idiot by the nurse (she was not wrong). So I moved on to the pureed foods, the first thing I tried was Greek yogurt never had before but I have trouble going through the portion, it can take me up to 40 minutes. I am not hungry at all. The only thing I can eat again in about 40 minutes is my two scrambled eggs with cheese and apple sauce. Has anybody else felt this way? On Monday I had actually gained 4 pounds because according to the nurse my body was going into starvation mode..... I'm seriously freaking out. Thanks for any help or advice!
