    Quitting smoking

I am pleased to say that on July 7th I will be 1 year smoke free. I haven't even taken a puff. I quit cold turkey and think that is the best because you have no excuse but a lack of willpower. Before I tried with pills and inhalers and gum and invariably o didn't have that crutch handy and used it as an excuse to smoke again. Every time I wanted a cigarette this time I went for a walk around the block. Sometimes that was 15 times at work. I told them I was quitting and may be doing this. They were supportive. I also had a few buddies at work that when a craving got really bad I made them walk with me. Days 3 and 4 were the worst for me. But if you can get through 1 week it is gravy from there. I just told myself I wanted the surgery more than I want that cigarette. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    What foods do you avoid?

i should have NEVER read that article! Hahaha! I tend to avoid salty food or added salt in general - it makes me retain Water and is bad for my high blood pressure (well slightly elevated blood pressure - i am off the meds after surgery ) so that means i avoid processed foods (except for Protein shakes) and stick to no salt added versions of food - But I treat myself 3 times a week to a dill pickle stacker slice because i love dill pickles!

    C25k. Keeping myself honest

Ok! Week 2 day 1 complete! I forgot to set my Fitbit to see how far I went. 90 seconds feels like it is 3 times longer than 60 seconds. But I never was good at math! Today my path took me from my house to the palace of fine arts. It is a 100% flat run which worked out well. Day 2 will either be tomorrow (though I think we'd will be a rest day) or Friday. I am having some facial work done Thursday so I am supposed to stay out of the sun for 3 days. But it is always foggy in sf!

    Sensitive to smell

yes - It happened to me - and after about a month it mostly went away. But during that heightened time - I couldn't get in a cab or walk near restaurants or even handle the flowers sent to me! Everything in my bedroom smelled rancid to me even though it was spic and span - The only thing I could stand to small was a glade candle in linen

    C25k. Keeping myself honest

Well - it was a half assed attempt this morning - I got up at 6 and got dressed and headed out - and started the warm up and first run segment- but quickly realized that it is not comfortable to run with a backpack full of clothes and a purse. - I need to keep clothes and a towel here at the office and not bring with me. I did, however, walk the whole way to the office at a brisk pace (for me) - I will not count today as a run or program day and will try and do it tonight when i am home. But I got up and had the intention to do it so that is half the battle. I am excited though - I have worked in this building on and off for 16 years coincidentally and I literally live at the top of the street about 2 miles and i drive every day. Everyone always asked why i don't walk or bike etc - and i always had an excuse (though it is mostly the big hills that scare me) and yesterday I walked home and today I walked to work - so it is doable - and didn't take that long - In my mind it would take 1.5 hours and took a little over 30 minutes so not bad.

  12. Hi. I have an 18w black dress that I wore once before surgery of anyone wants it. It is good for work. It is similar to the picture but not quite. First come first serve. It will need a dry clean as I have had it in a bag for awhile. [emoji3]

Protein2O: 60 calories 16g of Protein flavored Waters

Yeah. The shipping is awful! But I find it helps me get a bit of protein but not too much right before I work out. Eating makes me queasy too close to working out. You can get a 4 sampler pack for 9.00 for anyone interested. And I heard they sell them on the east coast at 7-11 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

We are 772.4 lbs from our collective goal. I have seen quite a few posts about stalls and frustrations etc so just know – we have all been there and we are all rooting for you! You can do anything you set your mind to – and remember – the scale is just a number… I know I personally have a hard time remembering that. I did my weigh in for 6/27 on 6/27 and met my goal for the challenge and I was super excited. I weighed on Friday and I was up 2.6 pounds. It made me upset, but it gave me pause to re-examine what I was eating differently or exercising differently – or come to a decision I was in a stall – Well – I ate off diet a few days when i went back and reviewed – so that was a wake up call – and helped me go back on track – I have decided to look for NSVs (non scale victories) while I get back to weight loss. And yesterday I was able to do a new walk/run path with hills (and running) on it that I had been avoiding and I am SUPER PROUD of myself for that small accomplishment. Before my surgery in March I would have been exhausted just looking at the hill. So for all of you in a slump or perhaps will be a little off after the 4th of July holiday – Keep in mind that it a marathon not a sprint and you are AMAZING just for starting the race in the first place! So That Was Embarrassing!

@@JamieLogical i am actually going on my first date Friday. I haven't been on a date probably since 2005 with a brief get back together with an ex boyfriend from 2008 - 2011 - so a long time (and i havent been married - ha). I feel pretty safe eating out for sushi... He asked where i recommend near where i live and i asked him what he doesn't like so i could cut that from the list. Guess what he never eats? You got it - Sushi! I am a bit nervous - I don't feel like saying anything about my surgery though - He wants to meet for drinks first (which i can't have) and then go to an French/Italian restaurant I like - I may go with the beef carpaccio since it is fairly thin and rare. I am 3.5 months post surgery so i eat small amounts - hopefully we keep the conversation lively and he doesnt notice. But on another note - It is very weird being out in public and people approaching me or talking to me now. I still have 40 - 45 lbs to go - but maybe i am exuding more confidence? Hard to believe at 45 years old I am ready to start dating - Ha!
