    Rant: too many interesting topics

I had to work from home today because i had a facial "pick me up" done yesterday and my face is not lookin purdy. I was all set to knock out all kinds of work from home since no one would be stopping by and bothering me like they do at the office (I literally have 40 stop bys a day where people ask stupid questions and I can never get MY work done). I had a 6:30 - 7:30am teleconference, did a little work, had a 9:30 - 10:30am teleconference, and have been reading bariatric pal posts ever since... sigh.. I guess another weekend of working is in order for tomorrow - It is almost 3:30pm where i live - so that is too late in the day to start doing actual working. So i think i will read and post till 5pm and then call it a day This is what my face feels like and I hope I look that young when its all back to normal:

    Please please please help

The only way i was able to get the gas to go away was to walk and i resorted a few days to gas x strips - I hope you feel better. I think it is fairly common but if you are concerned you should reach out to your dr or nurse...
  3. @@UalreadyKnow My apologies - i forgot to un-filter when I filtered for missing data for July 4th! I have removed the filter and you are there! Sorry everyone!

    Deviled egg ideas?

before surgery i HATED all eggs and especially hard boiled eggs. Now I can't get enough deviled eggs - I may be boring but i like to mix the yolk with low fat mayo, mustard, parika, celery and turkey bacon bits (you only need a few pieces to perk it up) But dang - that crab one sounds amazing! I have been making crab salad for myself - it is so funny when i go to the seafood counter and ask them to rip me off 2 small legs and by small i mean SMALL - and i still usually have leftover crab!

Post op protien, what did you use?

premiere Protein pre made chocolate and vanilla GENEPRO no flavor powder that i mixed into broth or Ice tea for extra protein (genepro is controversial on here but for me personally i liked it) good luck
  7. Those values are what my dr had me on - I used fage non fat Plain yogurt and non fat cottage cheese to supplement - also flaky fish really helps boost - even tuna if you can handle it - I was lucky and was able to eat fish (soft fish like tilapia, alacore tuna from a can/pouch mixed with mayo and mashed), walu, black cod) in small quantities and light deli turkey and string cheese as part of my soft.. I think fish - once you can handle it will give you a good Protein punch... So I went back to myfitnesspal for that time frame and this is what I was having: 1. Breakfast: premiere protein ready made drink (160c/30g protein/5gcarbs/3g fat)2. lunch: (I made little cupcakes and reheated them) 3 tbs egg white scramble (25c / 5g protein/1g carb/0fat) with 1/2 jimmy dean turkey sausage pulsed really fine and mixed in (17c / 2g protein/0g carb/1fat) reduced fat sharp cheddar (20c / 2g protein/0g carb/2gfat) 3. Dinner: 2 oz Tilapia ((55c / 11g protein/0g carb/1fat) Lemon wedge (2c / 0g protein/1g carb/0fat) 4: snacked on throughout the day as I was able to stomach Non Fat Cottage Cheese (40c / 7g protein/3g carb/0fat) Lite String Cheese ((50c/ 6g protein/3g carb/0fat) Turkey Meat (60c / 14g protein/1g carb/1fat) Fage 0% Greek Yogurt Plain (33c / 6g protein/2g carb/0fat) sugar free torani Raspberry syrup to mix in yogurt (0c / 0g protein/1g carb/0fat) That brought me to 64 protein, 16 carbs, 8 fat. I have to admit i would sometimes skip the cottage cheese and double the yogurt - and I would have the yogurt later at night than i should have - I would eat it as my dessert...

    Throwing up

eat very slowly and when you are about half way through the portion give it a bit of a rest to make sure you are not full. have you tried yogurt? That set pretty well for me. I hope it works itself out for you soon. I would get sick when i over ate - and overate sometimes was a 4 tablespoons instead of 3. hang in there!

Oh, how easily we sabotage ourselves...

I think we have all been there-those feelings! Unless I am reading your profile wrong - haven't you lost 19 pounds since surgery? If so...that is awesome - you may just be in a bit of a stall as your system tries to straighten out - that happened to almost everyone - I went back and checked and I was down 20 lbs 6 weeks out from surgery - where i had a week stall at the same weight (and a weight gain) even when following the program to a t - Now I know there is no way I could gain weight based on what I ate so It had to be Water weight etc - my recommendation (which you will see in many many posts) put the scale away or use it sparingly the first few months. I am 4 months out so still very new and weigh twice a week - fridays and mondays as i am able to eat more foods and I am exercising more - I want to see what the impact is on my weight in general. I want to make sure now that i am increasing my exercise and increasing my calories because the exercise is making me hhhuuunnngggrrryyyy that it is all still in line. so far so good. And I am sure it will all come in line for you as well - Countless posts are found here where the poster (me included) was second guessing or worried "if it is working" and by month 3 it is starting to make sense. Good luck to you!

    Reason #2016 for surgery

You can do it! I think it is great that you are doing this when not required - It actually will set you up for success when the surgery happens - And you already know you can live without those items well before you have to give them up. I will be honest before i was going to have weight loss surgery i was a BIG wine drinker - I wont say exactly how much as i don't want to shock anyone - to a point when i was thinking about giving it up - i was afraid I wouldn't be able to - But I was and by the time i had surgery i didn't have to add that to the list of items I missed or thought about as a sacrifice. Same goes with smoking (congrats by the way) - I smoked for 24 or so years and quit cold turkey 1 year and 1 day ago - in preparation for the surgery - again - it just solidified that I CAN control my life when i want to. The weight loss will come with the surgery - the good habits can never come soon enough. You are doing great..

    Need help with puréed stage

Just be careful on the ricotta bake - if the mozzarella gets too crusty and chewy - it can be an issue (well it was for me and a few others) for puree stage but is dang tasty for soft phase

What is on your Trader Joe's Shopping List?

@@OKCPirate Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I had no idea about the ice coffee concentrate - I have a trader Joe's between my office and home so when i was walking home on the 4th of July I stopped in and picked it up. I decided to WFH today and just made one! So delicious! I mixed it in a martini shaker with ice and 1/2 Water and 1/2 fairlife and a suirt of liquid splenda. I am forever in your debt for opening my eyes!

    Delicious recipe hack

I made a delicious miso glazed black cod from the nobu recipe on the web. I marinated overnight in just some low sodium soy and miso. And ginger. Then paired with baby bok Choy, 1 brown mushroom and 1 chanterelle. But I cooked the fish the way the recipe says (3 min a side and then 5 min on a 400 degree oven. http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-nobu-miso-marinated-black-cod-117238
  15. I usually stay out of these types of threads and just sit back and watch it unfold (eating virtual popcorn), but I felt the need to weigh in. And this definitely isn't addressed at the OP, so don't take offence.. Do you know what I hate worse than straight talk feedback from people who have been there before me? The Peanut Butter filled pretzels that the new snack vendor at my office keeps restocking everyday. I work at one of those tech companies that fill the entire office with every type of food imaginable. And i walked right on by ever since i got back to the office (i do partake in the beef Jerky and 0 fat fage). But dang! i swear i can hear those little nuggets of badness whispering to me "come on - you can have just one...we are unsalted so we aren't THAT bad...peanut butter is protein!" They are the devil whispering in my ear on one side. Luckily I have the angels from bariatricpal whispering in my other ear - and collectively they are waaaay louder - Sure some of them talk to me in nicer tones than others - but at the end of the day they all are guiding me to be the very best goplay94123 I can be! So thanks to all of you who have advised me in my past 4 months - i am down over 50 pounds, I am training for a 5k, went on my first date in 15 years, I am learning to cook exciting and new recipes to keep my within my allowable foods, I am finally regularly pooping (ha), and have most of my hair. What more could a girl ask for! attachment=63422:peanutbutter crackers.PNG]
  16. I wish I would have started earlier - what helped me were the pros and cons list - and reading "the emotional first aid kit" which was recommended to me - I also attended a seminar by the surgeon I ultimately decided to go with - The frst half was about the different types, pros and cons - and the second half was his monthly support group and it was helpful to listen to his patients - that may not be something offered in your area - but it wouldn't hurt to check. Just like with everything in life- knowledge is power - and i wish you luck-no matter the path you take - as long as that path leads you to better health if that is what your end goal is!
  17. You are AWESOME!!! Congrats

    Am I the only one

VERY normal - but you will see a post like this from almost everyone - me included - I started losing weight when i stopped weighing myself - except for 1 day a week - and even when i was in the first stall i still had to tighten my belt.

    C25k. Keeping myself honest

Week 2 day 2 all done. I ran along the Water this time but I probably won't do that again. It is way too windy. But not all together unpleasant. I felt like the time passed quickly which is good. I was surprised when the app said 1 minute left. Today took me by Alcatraz. Too bad it is so foggy! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. @@j16 - i love your suggestions - and will use them. I focus on short term objectives - and mostly around setting a pattern - because i tend to either start and stop things quickly, or attempt to change or do too much all at once and fail at them all. So, for the first 4 months I focused on eating: Making sure I log everything in my app and i like keeping the streak going. I rewarded myself a minute of massage for each day i logged and made good choices. Now, I am focusing on the exercise portion - I worked out with a trainer 2x a week during the first 4 months - but now i am working on exercising a minimum of 5 times a week for at least 60 minutes. I log everything in an app as well. I am rewarding myself with new workout clothes for goal attained. Right now it is $0.05 per minute I work out - I know it sounds silly but it keeps me motivated. I plan when i finish the c2 5k program to treat myself to a weekend getaway because i have stopped and started that program 5 times.. I actually have rewarded myself as well with a walk to the beach to sit and watch the sunset instead of working and that was great as well!
  23. @@Jeanette1246 - I will look into starting another one a few weeks after this one ends - I have your name down on my list of people who arent in this one who want to be alerted. I think i need a few weeks break - If someone else wants to run it let me know and I can transfer all of the info as well
