Today is my consultation! I will be seeing Dr. Neil McDevitt at Coastal Carolina Bariatric Center, Summerville, SC. I have read his "Survivor's Guide", completed all of the paperwork, confirmed coverage with my insurance company, watched the informational video and taken the post-video quiz....but I still feel anxious that I may have missed something that will delay my process.

I had always been a self proclaimed "Tan-aholic"! Largely in part to help camouflage the cellulite and stretch marks on my legs and tummy. I was a member of Planet Fitness and used the tanning beds daily, (whether I worked out or not) because it was less expensive to pay for a membership than it was to go to an actual tanning salon. My thought was, tan fat looks better than pale fat. However, my mindset changed drastically the day I got the call from the Dermatologist informing me that I had skin cancer...ON MY FACE, directly under my EYE. I had to have Mohr's Surgery that left a scar that runs from below my right eye to just above my mouth. I have muscle and nerve damage because of the surgery that makes my smile crooked and my right eye slightly lower than my left eye. I looked like the elephant man for 3 months while I was healing and every time I opened my mouth to laugh or take a bite of food, the incision would ooze. I still love tan skin, but now my tan comes in a bottle or from a spray tan. It simply isn't worth the risk to put myself in another, though extremely relaxing, tanning bed. I miss those beautiful tans, but I love the skin I'm in more! Be informed, make the best decision for you!

I can't wait to do zumba again!!! I'm actually sitting in my pain management doctor's office right now, and hopefully we'll get this pain under control and I can begin to move again! My fist visit with my surgeon is April 7th. I'm praying I will be the exception to the rule as far as wait time goes. Just ready to reclaim my life! Sent from my SM-G928T using the BariatricPal App

My surgeon asks that you commit to 18mths post-op before attempting to conceive. However, there was a young lady 10mths post-op in our support group who was expecting. Good luck to you on both endeavors!!! Sent from my SM-G928T using the BariatricPal App

I've never tried this, but my daughter swears that sniffing Rubbing Alcohol will knock nausea completely out. Just a quick whiff during her 2nd delivery stopped her from vomiting. It's worth a try! Hope you feel better soon!!! Sent from my SM-G928T using the BariatricPal App

I work for a Parks and Playground Recreation Commission. Everyone is healthy and active, with the exception of myself and one other employee. With that, I receive a free gym membership which I don't often use due to health constraints. The pressure is definitely there to workout daily, but I'm not physically able to do this. I'm just beginning my journey and simply mentioned that my insurance will cover surgery, but will not cover seeing a nutritionist. My boss rolls her eyes and walks away saying, "Typical lazy American way out". Soooo, I won't be sharing any of this journey with her! I'm so glad I've found this forum so that when the time comes, I will better know how to deal with questions/comments and be ok with knowing what I do is none of their business.
