Will see how it goes and report back. I'm anxious for some reason, to the point of getting heartburn. They said expect this first appt to be 2 1/2-3 hrs. I've done WW off and on for years...know how to track, now just need to learn how to change what I'm eating to be in-line with bariatric surgery. It will be eye opening in sure, as like many people out there, even eating healthy includes carbs like bread, fruit and yogurt. Wish me luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

First appointment with my NUT
staceykb72 replied to staceykb72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was confusing my psychological meeting with my first NUT mtg regarding duration. That said, first mtg with my NUT was ~45 min, and went well. Didn't feel rushed or anything. She even told me with as much as I love to bake, (she does too), that she'll share new recipes with me that are lower in sugar and higher in Protein...I thought that was really cool. My 3 main things to focus on before my next visit... Eating 5-6 small meals (using the 10/10/10 rule), getting more activity in and reducing sugar. I barely drink pop (don't even keep it in my house), and recently switched to decaf coffee...which helps me even more going into the next 6 months. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Looking for people who are just starting the bariatric process
staceykb72 replied to XxStephYxX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my insurance appt last week, and my seminar today. I have the physical with the dr on 3/22. Already had blood work up completed (3/1), and gave my PCP the template for the letter he needs to write to my surgeon. For as long as I've been on WW, and just dieting in general for all of these years, you'd think I wouldn't be quite as overwhelmed as I'm feeling currently. That said, I still have many months to go before I even need to worry about surgery. One day at a time... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Purpose of nutritional visit?
staceykb72 replied to teedsg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today in my group session the Dr said that not losing weight can delay your surgery. They want to ensure you are committed to making changes before the surgery. She said "we're operating on your stomach, not your brain." I thought that was a very valid point. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
...is tomorrow, 3/1. I'm nervous, curious, uncertain, and excited. I've continued to have the "is this right for me" and "should I really do this" questions flowing through my head. I'll feel much better after the consult, and I know on average it's another 6 months before the surgery. The thing that keeps me moving forward is knowing the outcome another year from now. By my 45th birthday (I'm currently 43), I can be "normal" and do things I've never done in the past physically due to my weight. I'm trying to not overthink everything, and just take it one day at a time. Wish me luck! Stacey HW: 410 CW: 298 GW: 165

Is anyone here on their 6 month supervised diet?
staceykb72 replied to Amurillo04's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My insurance appt was today, the appt with the dr is 3/8, and my appt with the dietician is on 3/22. Still have a lot of questions, so hoping the meeting with the dr answers most/all of them. My consultation...
staceykb72 replied to staceykb72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So my insurance covers everything 100% after I pay my deductible and OOP expenses of $5250. Not great, but could be much worse I suppose. The one thing the insurance isn't being consistent in is the duration of the medically supervised diet...either 3 months or 6 months. I'm not in a huge rush, as long as I can get it done by the fall, which is about the 6 month mark. My 1st appt with a dr is on 3/8, and my 1st appt with the dietician is 3/22.
