My dad died very suddenly when he was 52. Having my 53rd birthday it was like remembering that shock once again. It gets better but the loss mixes with the good memories

I think it's less about "going" back to normal life and more about "normal" slipping back into place. The world looks wrong now, but it will become familiar again in its altered form. If it takes just being on automatic to get through each day, so be it. You will find your way. You wrote to me that your father loved fully. That's a sign of a successful life. You have the love that enveloped you and which you returned. You'll always know that he lived well. Let all of that buoy you now and forever. He will always be the Big Man in your life. It's a happy thing.
