You know you lost weight when
Christinamo7 replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
today while in my pjs (no spandex) I noticed my flabby butt was wagging behind me as I walked. encouraging but a little unsettling! -
Did anyone's spouse lose attractiveness when they got close to goal?
Christinamo7 replied to Chrystee's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
you two should probably start a thread about your mutual dislike and not inflict it on the rest of us. and as for you Babbs you have had some helpful posts, I would hate to ignore you but this is just crazy stuff right there on both sides. -
Did anyone's spouse lose attractiveness when they got close to goal?
Christinamo7 replied to Chrystee's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
my husband has always been a normal weight. I was about 40 pounds lighter when we married - and while his only worry is that I will get too slim - he has worried about my health and loosing me to obesity related diseases. we have been married a long time - and he is supportive of me. He says, if there are any issues we will work through them the same as we have with any other problems because my health, and keeping me alive is the most important thing. -

Surgeon told me not to lose weight!
Christinamo7 replied to missvee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the NUT will help you know what to expect, and what to eat during each stage. It will be about education and expectations. -
my PCP said to get Protein on everything. she recommended adding powdered milk on to non protein foods. She has had several patients, and her sister come through without loosing their hair after sleeve with this plan. 1. I am thankful she has been so supportive and 2. I am going to give it a try.

Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!
Christinamo7 replied to Cape Crooner's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
QUESTIONS: 1. How long did you go before having your first drink? - I am only 3 weeks out - plan to wait 6 months so I can avoid those carbs during this maximum weight loss time. 2. Have you had any MEDICAL complications with your surgery that were attributed to drinking alcohol? no 3. Have you gained back significant weight from drinking alcohol? no - abstaining for now. 4. Have you developed an alcohol addiction post VSG after having been able to control your drinking before? I have asked hubby to watch me for this issue, as I know he will give me good feedback. I was an occasional drinker, wine and whiskey are my favs. and I collect wines from the Old Mission Peninsula. I sure hope I tolerate it well once I am back on the sauce. I typically had 3 glasses a month, so not every weekend, more than once a month. -
80 is my Protein goal - interesting how plans vary. so far, I've not had any problem meeting that goal.

The Easy Way Out
Christinamo7 replied to melyssafaye's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YES. if there were an easy way out I would take it, and I would push anyone else needing it toward that. I will say that for me, so far this is easier than trying to will power my way into it, but harder because I have no opt out, I'm in for a penny in for a pound - I've had the surgery and learning to live with it. very happy. -
Crazy diets
Christinamo7 replied to needtorecover's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
the only crazy thing I tried was that prescription that kept you from absorbing all the fat you ate. It had very unpleasant side effects, and was certainly good at behavior modification. Unfortunately it did not do a thing about sugar, which is the real problem -
Week 1 - Am I drinking too much too fast?
Christinamo7 replied to newmeme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I could drink more at a time after a week because the swelling is going down. :-) You're right on track I'd say. -
2 weeks till b. surgery date , getting cold feet, help
Christinamo7 replied to hoot temple's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
if not now, to enjoy greater health for the rest of your life, then when? if you have family you will enjoy them more. I have a grandboy - he is 1 - I want to be active with him. if you don't have people close and you rely on yourself to take care of your life, then this would still help you to be able to do that longer. I am almost 3 weeks out. nothing else has ever resulted in permanent weight loss for me. I am excited about this opportunity. -
Approvals with BCBS Federal
Christinamo7 replied to rln52's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to pay 350 before surgery and a couple of copays - but my bills that have come in after surgery added on will end up paying about 1000 out of pocket. BCBS Federal Select -
Telling family?
Christinamo7 replied to billyfromphilly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
to tell or not to tell is a very personal decision - I tend to be pretty open, and I am more or less immune to other people's opinions, really because once I have made a decision I have considered it a while, and from all sides. It is hard to get me to change my mind. Some of my family were worried about the aspects of this that are life changing - one example, is for 30 years they've seen me with a coke in my hand - it is an adjustment. and surgery is always a worry. but because I had to wait over a year for my surgery due to an issue they found during approval, everyone who was worried at all had come around and I have had good support. I do tell people, quite honestly, that I had surgery on my stomach (sleeve) due to my diabetes. off all diabetes meds since surgery. it has helped friends to not see it as a cosmetic solution. they can't argue if my doctor recommended it for a medical problem. -

Scared to eat different foods
Christinamo7 replied to rydersmama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
it depends on the source of the carbs. Look I did not get fat eating carrots or lima Beans. or even bananas. so as my NUT recommends I have added them in, keeping in mind my daily carb allowance. even oatmeal. this is not the same as having candy, or chips, or cake. You will loose weight if you are eating balanced, healthy FOODs and not food products. -

First day back at work, 10 days post op
Christinamo7 replied to creneeha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work at 1 week, but only 6 hour days until my one month check up - and I am ready to go home and look after my needs. -
straight up truth is this is not the "easy way out" However, if there WAS an easy way out, wouldn't we all, that person included be taking it? I know I sure would have.

I had moderate energy before - and would typically walk 20 minutes in the morning, often taking naps at my meal break and to tired to do much at night. Now, I walk a half an hour in the morning, and evening. I have had some naps, but at two weeks out I am still in the immediate post op period. I am sleeping better and allergy symptoms are way down. I feel incredible! the first week was the best, I think it was the steroids given during surgery but I felt fabulous. Hope it lasts!

9 months post op and still can't keep food down
Christinamo7 replied to GinaSq's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
what has your team recommended? it seems strange that they would let you go on like this. and, I'm sorry you've had this trouble. I am only two weeks out but so far everything I have tried I've not had problems with. -
Occasional wine drinker
Christinamo7 replied to Justina0218's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mine says best recommendation is never, but after 6 months it's ok. I love a glass of wine now and then, and collect wine from Old Mission Peninsula wineries. I know a lot of people push this, but I do not plan to have anything before 6 months because it is straight up carbs and I want to make hay while the sun shines and maximize my weight loss in the beginning. -
"Think You're Too Heavy to Exercise?" -- articles
Christinamo7 replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in Fitness & Exercise
when I first got my treadmill I was only able to walk for 5 minutes at a time. my weight was not at it's highest, but I would say my fitness was at it's lowest. start where you are and what you can and your body will amaze you! I also love to swim and jog in the Water. -
Feeling miserable
Christinamo7 replied to mfregoso's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my silly teenage girls sat beside me about twice with their food during my liquids phase before they found out that it was not cool. Since then I am able to tell them if smelling their food is bothering me as I am still on a fairly limited diet, but as I begin to eat soft foods, it has bothered me a lot less and I just eat what I am eating while they eat theirs. I am not very hungry 2 weeks out so it helps.
