Scared to eat different foods
Christinamo7 replied to rydersmama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
its fruit. the whole thing is good for you in moderation. -
One month check up
Christinamo7 replied to Christinamo7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
yes, thank you. right now I am supposed to shoot for 800-1000 calories. they went over my averages for walking because I have been tracking that. -
If you believe say a prayer for me!
Christinamo7 replied to ld33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will. it seems so uphill at that time. Even though the post op period has it's own challenges it was such a relief to know that I have the tool and can use it for the rest of my life. -
4 Weeks Post Surgery: Things that are different
Christinamo7 replied to Positive44's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
yes that can slow things down a bit. you could be holding Water, with the little weight gain. if you can manage to get more fluids in I think that number will change. -
Can you stretch out/damage your sleeve?
Christinamo7 replied to breezy25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
what *can* happen is you can learn to eat around it, if food issues remain unresolved. but the good news is that if you fall off the wagon, you can always come back to following the rules and back on track. -
Lost my motivation and discipline at 4 months out?!?!
Christinamo7 replied to itstimealready's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
you don't need a pouch test - you just need to find a way to reconcile the fact that this is for the rest of your life and find a way to live with your new way of interacting with food. you should have a protein/fat/carb "allowance" make sure you are not ALL or NOTHING with carbs, but for example, I stay under 50 a day of carbs. make this something you can live with and get moving! even if it's slow, even if you lie to yourself that you only have to walk 10 minutes, get started. You also have to find other ways (besides food) to treat yourself - for me it is an epsom salts bath or a mani/pedi. -
I am having such a hard time!
Christinamo7 replied to Lisa_85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I put my fork/plate down and crochet a ways and then pick it back up. if that is not working I ask my husband or child to take my plate away from me and bring it back in 5 minutes. it also helps me if there is no drama going on. if I am eating at work and am interrupted, I eat too fast and then have pain/gas. if the kids are arguing or excited same thing happens (they are teens)- everyone is learning to calm down and enjoy meal time. :-) because at work if they make me sick when I am eating, I am going home. -
Why did I do this?
Christinamo7 replied to laura_rose16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get burpy, or else my nose starts dripping. weird but common, I know. -
I am only a month out, so haven't lost a lot of hair - and putting Protein powder or powdered milk on *everything* in hopes - because my hair is fine and thin anyway. I think stressing over it would make it worse, so try to let go of that. I did find the number of a well regarded wig place locally just in case I need it and I figure even if I lost all my hair it would be worth it to not have the comorbidities associated with my obesity.

Was above able to drink like normal?
Christinamo7 replied to fling0228's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
it was a nice surprise, somehow I thought I would be sipping for the rest of my life, and I love to drink Water. it was the same for me. -
Breaking Self-Destructive Habits and Patterns
Christinamo7 replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have been trying to find a better job for about 3 years. I have had excellent interviews, and often told after the fact that I would have been the second choice - I am going to be curious to see if/how my weight loss may affect being in the job market. -

excercise & work post gastric sleeve
Christinamo7 replied to whelan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to a desk job at one week, but was limited to 6 hour days for the first month, and I am glad. it was nice to get out and about, but equally nice to come home and rest, walk, and focus on my liquids and Protein. Wish I could stay on 6 hours for the next two months! -
Anyone else having trouble drinking coffee?
Christinamo7 replied to Athenyx's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just started having regular coffee this week. at first it bothered me a lot, I thought OH NO. boo. I had mixed it with vanilla Protein drink, and I had done that pre op with no issues. so the next day I tried it with my regular creamer and no problems at all. these new tummies can be odd at times and we have to play with them to figure out what will work and when. -
Why can't I lose weight after 3 weeks post-op!
Christinamo7 replied to malvarez1210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
there is a real good chance you are not eating or drinking enough. when that happens your body holds on to everything it has. -
Christian sleevers any the just had...
Christinamo7 replied to lachellove's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been a believer for 43 years, Jesus is the best thing that ever happened in my life! -
I use a straw, I find I sip better and gas has not been a problem at all with liquids. sometimes I eat too fast and then I have gas. and pain. but not when drinking. You will have to see how you do.

Should I go through with sleeve? Almost at goal.
Christinamo7 replied to Stacey78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
maybe it would be better for you to regularly have follow up with a NUT, find foods that satisfy your hunger but fall within a normal carb/fat/protein ratio to keep you slim. -

Christinamo7 replied to Stacey78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
there is not enough information - have you lost to goal before and regained? how many times? have you addressed your eating issues? do you have comorbidities? are you young, middle, old? all of these things play into the decision. are you self pay? because I would think if insurance was in the mix it would be a no. -
please let us know how you are doing and what the hospital finds out.
-
I have been using the Opurity Vitamins - same company as unjury powder. but since I have the sleeve, and pills are not bothering me I will go back to my regular multi for women once I have used up all my chewables. my doctor and NUT said it is fine to do that.

Why did I do this?
Christinamo7 replied to laura_rose16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you have hunger hormone still in your system. I was quite hungry the first week - but after that not usually. a little hungry maybe twice a day, have to make sure I eat on schedule otherwise my tummy complains when I do eat. -
Do I tell people I'm having surgery or keep it a secret? Advice greatly received!
Christinamo7 replied to inkie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
everyone has to decide for themselves. I have been open about it, but I have pretty thick skin and I tend to be pretty open. However, as a diabetic I do tell people that I have had surgery on my stomach due to my diabetes. because honestly, for me the weight loss is a good side effect, but being off diabetes medication is the best thing. -
Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
Christinamo7 replied to Awjones28's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
but you know what is EVEN MORE ridiculous? if my husband ate an apple a day for a month he would probably loose 10 pounds. That man only has to think about loosing weight and it is off. GRRRRRRRRRRR :-) although, he has other struggles of his own, weight is my monster and he has been very supportive of my surgery and is only happy to have a healthier wife. he did not want to loose me young. -

Oh, just because I don't let the comments bother me at all doesn't mean that idiotic comments are not made. I find them to be quite amusing, which I think is the general purpose of this post. I get told a lot that I am not heavy enough, or I should just eliminate sugar and gluten. oh yes, silly me, I should have tried that, in a very sarcastic voice is what I say in my mind. :-) lol. YES, that's the point. ha.
