I have the standard Federal BCBS and it was about a week I think. I got the letter from them faster than the call from my clinic.

    Working out/More hunger

when my weight loss has slowed way down, I get very hungry right before I loose a good bit. it's kind of weird. but it works. and I second that what matters is that you are eating quality food not junk. my surgery was also in February.

    VSG & autoimmune diseases?

it was found when I was trying to prepare for surgery with a high WBC. I had stabbing pains in my belly, some swelling in my belly. PET scans and cat scans showed "stranding" in the tissue that holds my small intestine in place. mostly belly pain, fatigue and diarrhea were the symptoms I was dealing with. It was either an infection (ruled out) or cancer (probably ruled out) or most likely the sclerosing mesenteritis. I finally got symptoms under control enough to get one normal WBC so they went ahead with my sleeve, but I will have a cat scan again in July as they will continue to watch me closer. check out Peggy Cappy's yoga for the rest of us. she makes people feel more comfortable and always has three examples, one easy, one normal and one advanced so it is easy to follow along.

    VSG & autoimmune diseases?

I probably have sclerosing mesenteritis. I say probably because they would have to biopsy my lymph nodes deep in my belly to find out for sure and that has been more risk than benefit. I just had surgery so some things I do not know - but my weight loss has been good just from walking. I love to swim but don't have access in the winter/spring. As for weight training, see if there are any yoga poses you can do - use your body. you can probably manage 5 wall push ups which are easier on you than a regular push up - get creative! just do what you can and I am sure it will help.

    Probiotics for post-op

I take a probiotic pill, went back on it when I got home - but I do also use a stool softener. I was getting a lot of my Protein from cheese early on, now that I am eating more meat I may be able to discontinue the stool softener. However, I personally think everyone should be on a probiotic all the time, so I have no plans to discontinue that. the fizzy you will need to ask the doctor about.
  8. I think if it were me, I'd be at the ER pretty soon if someone doesn't figure this out. Please let us know what the WLS says.

    7.5 months post-op and only down 63lbs

sometimes I trick myself by saying I only have to walk 5 minutes, or 10 or whatever it is. Try to tell yourself that - but if you truly don't have more than an hour for yourself, I wouldn't spend the whole thing working out. You can get some great walk in place videos that are 20 minutes, or on the wii, or I love Peggy Cappys yoga for the rest of us. I think that a 20 minute yoga "me time" three days a week would do wonders for you. That being said, you are ALREADY a success, whether you loose any more or not. so try to make good choices, and try to not beat yourself up over what's done. whether or not it gets harder, you have this tool for life.

    Feeling Lonely

I think you might both feel insecure about the changes. My bestie and I tend to eat very differently, so we often go on a picnic when the weather is fine, or go out to listen to live music. I hope that you two will find activities to share where the differing lifestyles will not matter anymore. and there is no reason once you get past a couple of months that you can't go out to dinner together or a movie.

    Feb sleevers.... One month updates!

surgery 02/17 and down 23 pounds. wearing clothes that have been hid in my closet for years - and jewelry that I could only admire in the box that now fits again. :-) have plenty of energy to walk the dog, most days twice a day so the pooch is getting more fit too!
  17. I have a pinterest board called what to wear - I love dreaming there!
  18. my daughters love modcloth! they have a dress I am planning to buy when it goes on sale, trying to decide what should be my "goal" size. maybe 10. not sure!
  19. I've always loved JJill. looking forward to looking better in their clothes. but the truth is I am looking forward to making my own clothes again. I used to - but when I got heavy and I was always trying to loose it didn't seem right to take all that time to make something in a size I wasn't planning to stay at. not to mention I like high quality fabric, so it's not cheap. When I get down to a size I think I'll be in a while, I am going to make dresses and skirts and pants for myself. I can't wait!

    How have your bowels changed?

calcium tends to stop things up for me - so sitting through a meeting would not have been a problem. although, we are drinking, sip sip sip, so visit the bathroom before the meeting and you should be fine.

    Insulin Resistance and Gastric Sleeve

I was on metformin for over a year - in fact it was a diagnosis of diabetes that drove me to seek surgery. My blood sugars averaged between 130-140 on 4 metformin a day. It was AWFUL on my tummy. serious problems the whole time I was on it. I stopped Meformin two days before surgery. after surgery my sugar went down to 120-135 on NO MEDICATION. Now 5 weeks out my fasting sugar is usually 110-115. on no medication. All of my symptoms from the metformin are GONE and I have to manage things for having the opposite bathroom trouble (which is very common post surgery) I am happy happy happy. the weight loss is a side effect for me, pleasant - but the being off Metformin was my #1 main goal. my complexion is brighter with normal blood sugar too. I am VERY HAPPY. :-)
