    Rant: Obnoxious comments

"I guess I wish people would perceive me as attractive whether I'm fit or fat but that's very far-fetched and I understand that. I will very likely be perceived as attractive when I'm at a normal weight, as many of you are experiencing with your weight loss (male and female alike). I accept that it is inevitable but I will still probably resent it. Just my own personal issue and my anger with society for degrading the obese population." In a perfect world? However - people are allowed to think whatever they want is attractive/unattractive. and you get to decide whether you want to be fit/fat or how you think about your own weight/shape/fitness. One thing I have found whether I am old or young, and no matter what my weight has been there was always someone out there who thought I was the hottest thing going. It's what I think about myself that matters alone. However, degrading others is never ok, no matter what you think about their outsides. edited because I don't know why the quote from the other post did not show as a quote. sheesh. the second paragraph is my comment.
  2. Glad to hear it! how did they feel you are doing with healing up?
  3. my nose drips to tell me it's time to stop eating.

    9 weeks post op..help

at my doctors office when I am weighed there is a ticker that states how many calories you need to maintain that weight. If you are eating less calories than needed, and you move your body the weight will come off. some of us just seem to have more stubborn fat. Keep up your Protein and fluids and take one day at a time.
  5. I had 3 months supervised. my weight loss clinic would have done it there, but my PCP was closer and following me for diabetes and other concerns, so I just had her do it.

How long did you lose weight for?

well for crying out loud Jamie! that's gonna hit me right at Thanksgiving/Christmas. y'all are going to have to help me around then!
  10. I suppose the good news is if needed I could always have bypass later. but, I am hoping that my habits will be changed and my weight significantly lower. I was not morbidly obese before I started a sedentary job, and within 5 years I hope I will be back to being a homemaker full time and therefore more active just in the daily routines of my life. Time will tell. I think it all boils down to what do you really want? and THANK YOU for posting the whole article. I appreciate not having to go look somewhere else.

3 Years Post - LOSING Hair Now?

there are other reasons you could be loosing hair - and I think I would want to speak to my PCP about it. at this point I would not think it had anything to do with the weight loss surgery.
  12. Right? it's pretty much a moot point for me for this reason.

    Stupid stalls!

I could scream. I am tied with weight for my husband. ALL I WANT IN LIFE right now is to weigh LESS than the darn man. if I could have just stalled a couple of pounds lower, it would be so much easier to take. grumble grumble.

How long did your procedure take ?

I remember the hubs saying it took longer and the doctor came to talk to him. Because I had the lymph node scare last year he wanted to take a look at my abdominal lymph nodes to make sure they were normal before doing the actual sleeve. I have no idea though. best nap I've had in a long time. :-)
  15. I was on 4 metformin a day - and still had what seemed to me, higher blood sugars. between 130 and 150. Stopped meds 2 days before surgery. My last A1c before surgery was 6.5, and at one month post op on no medication it was 6.0. I am hoping that by 3-6 months I will be able to drop the diabetes diagnosis completely! This was my main motivation for surgery. I am also on BP meds, and they have been cut in half with excellent BP.

I have a gift for many of you...

    you are fabulous. :-)
  18. I was allowed to and have not had any problems.
  19. it is hard to say. I got serious about using it about the time he went into the group home - so the stress was down. It did make less breaking and less dry hair, and the grow back was thicker and healthier. I suppose this surgery will be a true test for it! However, last year I was quite ill with something in my abdominal lymph nodes - very stressful on my body and nutrition and I did not experience hair loss, so I am cautiously optimistic.
  20. I have not gone through this since surgery however, my hair fell out and got extremely thin several years ago during an extremely stressful situation (my son, who is disabled went into a mental institution and then a group home) I started using WEN shampoo, and my hair has been in the best shape it has ever been in. Waiting to see if I will loose hair - I am only 6 weeks out so not close to three months yet. I do use a mousse for fullness because even while it is back to normal normal for me is fine and soft.
  21. I moved around without difficulty. I was walking for about 10 minutes every hour I was awake. Helps with any gas pain. I wasn't in a lot of pain, I was tired, and I felt like I was constantly sipping. :-) Water, bone broth and sugar free Popsicles.
  22. Congrats and thanks for posting! my starting weight at surgery was 238 and I can't even imagine being that low. I have set my goal at 160 because I can't even wrap my mind about getting to 130........... so we'll start with 160 and see where I can go from there. Your post is very helpful to me to see that it took a while to get to goal, and I need to just keep doing what I am supposed to do and it will come.
  23. so - one thing I do is when I cook a healthy meal for me (tonight it is grilled chicken breast and lima Beans - I cook enough to put 2-3 small plates for me in the freezer - so on busy week nights if I am hungry I can grab a plate of something, thaw it out and an easy healthy preportioned meal is ready. I will usually do a couple with larger servings for the hub. a second thing I do is brown turkey/ground beef early in the week with just salt, pepper, garlic. This can easily make a big mac salad (with appropriate amounts of each topping for my needs) or it can make a red sauce that they can have on Pasta, and I can have as is. or it can make a little nacho topping and I just have it without the chips. I think if you plan ahead you can do a good job with your week night meal prep and not feel pushed to the limit.
