    Struggling truck driver post op

you've been given some good ideas here! I know it is a challenge. I never know if I am going to be 'allowed' to leave work on time to eat - so I tend to pack two meals and two Snacks just in case. so, since I eat my egg on my way to work I leave the house with the whole day's food. not quite the same, but enough to sympathize.

not professional but I have played the flute since the 5th grade. haven't tried since surgery though.

Does your lady feel safe? (what do women want?)

one of the things I love about living in the South is that it is far more likely that any nice man will hold the door open, young and old. I like being treated like a lady. but not all ladies like being treated a certain way, so guys if you find one you like, take the time to learn what pleases her. she will hold you in high esteem if you do.

    dead inside...

loosing a child is the hardest thing I have ever experienced. There are no words, and the pain never goes away. There is always a missing place at your table and family pictures. You are going to need help to get through it. Serious help. one thing I promise, eating will not make you feel better. walking might just help a little. pushing around weights helped me. I lost two children 26 years ago. twin boys, Jacob and Job. you will be in my prayers.

    Surgeons Goal vs Personal Goal

    you're quite pretty!

    Snacking

are you eating Protein foods and drinking enough? carbs tend to make you want more carbs. if that is an issue you will just have to walk away from them.
  9. you're totally normal. but here is the bald faced truth. what will happen in 20 years is that most likely you will weigh MORE than your highest weight ever. most likely any comorbidities you have will be worse, and some you don't have you probably will. I had to weigh the (VERY REAL) risks of my obesity vs the risks of surgery. you will not be eating that differently once you get to maintenance. However, this is not a magic pill. it is a complete (for the rest of your life) change. if you aren't ready, you aren't ready.
  10. I am possibly addicted to walking.

    Surgeons Goal vs Personal Goal

one day at a time and see how it goes! when my doctor asked me about goals - well. I said 160. I can't even wrap my mind around being that small! he laughed a little and told me I was going to blow that goal away. 129 would be the top of normal weight for me. We'll see. For now, I am just following the plan I am on and moving my body - walking - pilates - and we will see where it takes me. I am just thankful to not be diabetic anymore!
  12. here's the deal. I took one week off because I have a desk job. it was fine. I had NO COMPLICATIONS. what if you do? I would fill out the FMLA so you are covered. my doctor approved 4 weeks off. ok, lets plan for the worst and hope for the best. when I did fine they released me to come back to work. Should you have any problems at all you will be glad you have the FMLA paperwork done and it will protect your job.
  13. not just in the US, but everywhere. I am sorry that the world has lost her. I am thankful that I had the surgery.

    Emotional struggle after gastric sleeve

this is completely normal! as the swelling goes down you will be able to drink more, and move more and feel better. However there is a hormone dump coming with the weight loss. I was ANGRY around week 3-4 - and I knew it was for no good reason. since then I have been mildly down in the dumps. some people feel er, excited like a teenager. it's all normal. I am filtering any important decisions through trusted couple of people for now because I know I am "under the influence" of unusual hormones. I walk a lot to get an endorphin boost to help me, and it does help. It is worth it and it will get better.

How long does it take to fall in love?

I don't know if you have to - but I do like how he smells especially if he has been wrenching on cars. it is crazy how it affects me.

How long does it take to fall in love?

David and I met online in a common interest site (talk city, Jesus Cafe) 20 years ago this August. Neither of us was looking for love - but we chatted every day for an hour or so. By Christmas he was in love - and planned to meet me in February. He proposed that week and we decided to just get married. Neither of us every wants to spend a day without the other. Now, if either of us had been not honest before it would not have happened - but we knew when we met that we had been telling each other the truth. Somehow we just knew. we were in our late 20s and I think our parents nearly killed us anyway - but it was right. I don't think this happens very often, but it does happen.

    Been Gone A While-Been Stalled Since 6/2015

Protein first - make sure you get your liquids, carbs from veggies after protein and see what you can do! move your body. Same things as at first. You can do this! and it will probably be a bit slower at this point but that is ok. just lets get the scale moving and keep it going.

    Breastfeeding After Surgery

do you have a nutritionist to work with? I think it is totally do-able and so good for you and baby *if* you can get enough calories in. you may need a different kind of Protein shake during that time. I nursed all 7 of my babies - what wonderful memories. and because I am a lazy mama, and could sleep and nurse at the same time. :-)

    Depression

I have struggled with serious depression in the past. However, as I go through the hormone surges of this weight loss (which are WORSE than pregnancy) I have a persistent low level sadness. I am normally pretty optimistic and upbeat - this is *most* unlike me. I am aware that my emotions are not normal and not to be trusted so I have a very good friend, and my husband who I will go over any real decision I have to make for the time being with me. I just know I need that kind of help right now. Hoping it will pass as things level out once the weight loss gets closer to goal - but man is this a wild ride.

    Vaporizing Marijuana

in order for any medication/herb/supplement to be effective then by definition it can be harmful when taken either at the wrong time, wrong amount or wrong way. if it is ineffective to hurt you then probably it is ineffective to help you. one example. I take cinnamon daily - it helps with blood sugar and to prevent metabolic syndrome. it is anti-inflammatory and helps with pain. it really works! but that means my doctor needs to know I am on it - especially when I used to take diabetes medications. It also can be a blood thinner. it is completely natural! people eat cinnamon every day! but I needed to stop it before surgery and until I was given the go ahead to resume. it is very important to tell your team everything. your life could depend on it.
  21. it does! as the swelling goes down you will notice, almost magically, that you can get more in at a time.

    ...just got real!

as for the mani/pedi my husband drove me to get one the week after my surgery as sort of a congrats present. :-) because I like to have my nails done.

    Knee pain and sleeve

I have an overall pain reduction in my body of about 70-80 % this was before significant weight even came off, and I think it is due to the dietary (protein Protein protein) changes. yes, this can really help. can't promise, but I can give you some hope.

Met someone I am really into

keep going slowly forward and get used to it one step at a time! hopefully you two can talk to each other about where you want things to go as you move forward. we are all scared of love a little - I think that's healthy. I was married a long time (9 yrs) the first time and I never wanted to even date after he threw our marriage in the garbage, my David was a patient man courting me - but it has been worth risking my heart again.
  25. YES. until I saw it start to work I thought I will probably be the ONLY PERSON that this doesn't work for. that is normal. :-) I still can't wrap my mind around being a normal size even as my belly is shrinking away each day a little bit.
