    NSV shout outs

That's great Dub! In July I have to order work shirts. they order twice a year. I will just have to guess at sizes I think, and if they get too big, well. they'll have to be good enough until I can get more! it's a good problem to have.

    Frozen dinner question

I'd honestly just get some divided dishes, cook a normal amount of food and make your own frozen dinners. I do that kind of thing all the time. Then seal them up with plastic wrap - then I put the whole thing into a zippered freezer bag that I reuse and you have a much healthier alternative frozen meal. life saver on a crazy week! they can be grabbed for a quick lunch or dinner.
  4. yes you will! and the funny thing is I assumed I would be sipping for the rest of my life, and I still had surgery. what a relief it was to find out that the sipping was temporary too. hang in there.
  5. before surgery I was a slow looser at best. diet, exercise. I could get down to a certain point, maybe 230 and then I would put that same 30 pounds back on again. rinse. repeat. x 10 years almost. Now, I am finally breaking through that point and onwards lower. It *feels* both too slow (30 pounds down since surgery almost) and too fast (my mind keeps thinking where is the rest of me?) but honestly 30 pounds in 2 months is NOT slow! it is also 1/3 of my excess weight. So, I keep going with the plan and I'll see where it takes me. Diabetes is gone, and I weigh less than my wonderful husband, so it's all good from this point on!

    Back from Vacation

it's good to have you back! I went hiking Sunday - first time since surgery. it was so much easier than before, except I am super tired today. everything is better since surgery. I am looking forward to hearing how things go with your half marathon.

    Cheating with post op diet

one thing that helped me is I am in the habit of cooking a lot on the weekend, and then reheating for weeknight meals. It might cut down on tempting bits for you to do it this way. And cook them things that you don't really like - it will be easier. If the Protein shakes seem too thick to you, add milk to thin it out. you'll get extra protein that way, even if it takes you a little longer to finish. and in the worst case, if you feel the need to cheat please do so with something like cottage cheese or some other pureed protein source that is less likely to do you any harm.

    Weight loss after sleeve

if you are loosing more than a pound a day I wonder what your expectations were? That's quite a lot. it will probably slow down. that's ok. just follow the plan and it will come off.

    Big bosomed friends

I am only two months out and 1/3 of my excess weight off - but so far so good. they are smaller, but they don't try to smother me in my sleep anymore. there is still plenty enough of them to look pretty.
  11. I am sorry you're having such an issue. I had very mild pain there, I felt it for sure, but it did not limit me. I would ask the doctor if there is something less sedating they could give you. They regularly prescribe a medication here that makes me nutty (oxysomething) so I asked for Lortab instead and felt much better.

    Increased burping?

if you have changed the types of food you're eating - I wonder if you need to chew more? but like Jane said I'd want to talk to a professional about it. Funny thing for me is I burp here and there during the day but as SOON as I get in bed at night I am burping like crazy. really seems to irritate the dear husband, although that is amusing since he taught 'burping as a sport' to my sons. He never realized how not funny it is to listen to someone else burp! Even if I try laying down on the couch before I go back to bed it doesn't help. Well. there are worse things I suppose.
  13. went off and left my supplements at home today. boo. will be quite an evening catching up. Monday Monday Monday.

Sometimes I feel that some of the "vets" need to "retire" and live happily ever after. Some of them are getting "cranky". :)

    Removed it!

THRILLED with the sleeve. Always before, I knew how to eat right, but I was so HUNGRY. I am 8 weeks out. I can eat one small serving and not feel deprived. I actually feel full and satisfied. Diabetes is resolved. You'll know if/when you're ready.

    Not losing weight after sleeve

also let me add. the NUT is on your team. they should not judge you - they are there to help you tweak and know what to eat, because we all need to learn how to eat for our new tummy.

    Not losing weight after sleeve

I've seen enough people post similar to think that this is normal - How often do you eat? I have Breakfast, a snack, lunch, a snack, dinner. and if I do a second walk another snack before bead. Protein first, then some veg or fruit.

    Weird or No?

I had a three month supervised diet. I was not required to loose weight. I lost about 10 pounds.

    Removed it!

I was more afraid of the complications and life limitations of being overweight than I was of the sleeve. it is a very personal decision and if you are not in that place than it isn't right for you.
  20. getting ready to head off for my first hiking adventure since surgery......... looking forward to seeing how I do!

couldn't go all the way down due to winter structure damage, but had absolutely NO PROBLEM hiking as far as I could and back. had a wonderful time playing with the kiddos. wonderful NSV day. So pleased

  21. I wouldn't have the sleeve if you can't see it as a permanent lifestyle change. I won't ever have coca cola again, and lets face it, at points in my life I was pretty addicted. This is worth giving it up, and I hope you will come to the same conclusion. I have no idea how those things might affect your post sleeve body. certainly something to discuss with your doctor, I'd think.

    Men and muscle loss

I think if you follow your program, wait to lift until cleared to do so and then get back into a cardio/lifting routine you will be amazed by your progress! and with the excess fat off, you'll be better able to show off the muscle, if you are so inclined.

I am so glad for your success. Thank you for posting! it will really be helpful to people who have just had surgery.

I am only 2 months out from surgery - but two days before I had surgery I went off diabetes meds and have never looked back. I now only check blood sugar once a week - and it is *always* normal. I am on half my blood pressure meds. I have what is probably an inflammatory auto immune disorder and my pain is down by at least 70%. The diabetes is the reason I chose to have surgery and I am THRILLED. the weight loss is a very nice side effect for me. Happy Happy Happy.

    Friends around you

How far out from surgery are you? Right now it is nice, because I am not really tempted by much that I can't have. There have been a few times when I have had to ask my family to take their ______________ (chips, Cookies, ice cream) to the other room. Later on, when I have less restriction and struggle more with cravings I will have to make a decision, do I stick with my plan, allow occasional treats or gain the weight back. That is a way ahead of me. I hope it will be one of the first two! but if it is #2 that will mean I am at or very near goal weight. Look for what sort of healthy items you could choose when you are with them and they are having something you can't - suggest meeting places with options for everyone. Have something to drink that looks nice in your cup but doesn't have alcohol at this point.
