well. the good news is tomorrow is a new day and you can choose to eat good Proteins, lay off the alcohol for a while and see what you can do. All depends on how much you want to loose that 50 pounds. I wouldn't rate this as a failure, but a choice you've made. and your sleeve is right there waiting for you if you decide to make a change.

2 months out from surgery. Had some of the grown kids over for dinner. Got up this morning, took dog for a walk, went to church, stopped at store, fixed dinner and visited for hours. no blood sugar issues, no needing to rest, no loving having them here but wishing they would leave so I could lay down. it was WONDERFUL. So many here I couldn't get everyone in a picture, this just shows three of my grown boys. In addition, like most ladies I had my fatty clothes, my normal clothes and my skinny clothes. I am now only wearing the skinny clothes. the rest are gone. I will need to shop soon. I kept the same clothes on all afternoon after Church and never felt like I needed to change into something else, because dressing to go out I used to not feel so comfortable in my clothing. Everything is better. I am so pleased.

Gross and TMI but I need to know if this is normal

time to call your team. They sent me home with anti nausea meds but I didn't need them, it sounds like you might just need them. -

FYI... growing up in Brooklyn, NY, we also called them 'thongs'. Had to change that though for the same reason...everyone else called them flip-flops and thongs were now thought of as G-strings. But in my heart... ...I still think of them as thongs. Not sure if this is a NY thing, or regional (Northeast region of USA) they were also called thongs in Northern Michigan. -

Conflicting Information From Doctors/Patients And My Fears
Christinamo7 replied to Hey Man's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
part of what it came down to for me is the chances of loosing the weight and keeping it off are slim to none. might you be that one person that gets the lucky straw? maybe. not likely. I don't recommend you have surgery if you are not ready or don't want to - but if you do loose the weight without it and keep it off for 5 years, buy a lottery ticket too. It's just not likely to happen. and, different surgeons have different plans. My NUT and doctors office favor a very balanced diet, some carbs daily but focused on Protein, veg and fruits. I have had a hamburger sans bun, and will probably have that today when we grill. I had no problems with it. when I am at goal might I have it with bun sometimes? yes, probably if I have room for it or want it. I had a slice of thin crust pizza this week. it was ok, it was convenient way to feed the family that particular evening. When we went hiking last weekend and It took the kids for an ice cream cone I got one too, I had burned a LOT of calories that day. I had room for about three bites - it was lovely, and my one daughter finished it. no problems, and my weight loss is right on track. I haven't tried wine yet, and don't plan to for 6 months to a year. if I don't care for it anymore I will either use my collection for cooking or some friends will get fabulous Christmas presents in years to come. I just wanted to finally loose the weight. -

currently the only two things I have tried that have not set well have been steak and venison steak. just made me feel like I had a sour stomach. ground meats of the same cut do not bother me (go figure?!?) but I am only 2 months out so I will try in a couple of months again. I can eat ground meat, turkey, chicken - ham I am not suffering for choices. -
Scarring and how many incisions?

I use warm coconut oil as a body lotion. -
KF, you're the one who eats salmon when you don't like it. I figure you should be delighted to eat pears in a salad, especially in such illustrious company. well, perhaps if you're ever in the neighborhood.

Question about protein drinks
Christinamo7 replied to ShelterDog64's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally love the unjury Protein powder. If I am making a shake I usually use fairlife milk The chocolate splendor I use as is, with Peanut Butter powder, or with half a banana, or with a little coffee. The vanilla one I use as is, with coffee, or with frozen cherries. The plain I mix into applesauce or other things that need a protein boost. -

while there is no way to tell how you will be after surgery, I will say that the thing is, I don't really miss or want the things I don't tolerate well. my problem was also portion control. I would wait to see if I was still hungry. I would drink Water to see if I was thirsty and still end up eating 3 times more than I should to shut off the hungry monster. Now I eat a child's portion and I am satisfied almost all the time. I do have hungry days, where I do add one more snack. Protein based. I don't drink when I eat except to swallow pills, and it really does make a difference. I don't personally have a hard time with spicy food. I am getting my protein, and fluids. the swelling went down quickly and my team advanced me to soft foods early, because that liquid period was the hardest for me. bottom line, no matter what, to me it was worth it. I am no longer diabetic and I weigh less (!!!) than my husband. everything else is gravy, I am already a success -
Worst Life Experience Ever
Christinamo7 replied to anitavee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry that things have gone this way, and I am sure it is not ideal. Do you have a good NUT to help you through the process? sometimes these things just happen. I would think from the numbers you gave it is very possible that any pregnancy test would have shown negative at the time of surgery and yet, here you are. because the way the "weeks" of pregnancy are counted from your last cycle, you would have just been making the babe around surgery time. Let us know how you are doing. -
KF, you could eat them anyway. they're good for you! I'll expect you round 1pm then. :-) but not tomorrow, we're grilling out, no salad.
-
That sounds good. One of my favorite salads is baby greens, red onion, gorgonzola cheese, cut up pears and grilled chicken with balsamic dijon vinaigrette dressing. I may have to try that next week with chicken because - *red onions!* yum. pears? mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I love all these ingredients and I have everything except the dressing, and I bet I could find a recipe online.

well, for friends that I have made as an adult it is through some sort of common connection. A common interest say - and you just find that you 'click' or get each other. I have somewhat of a hard time making friends unless I make myself put in the effort. I am a real homebody and somewhat introverted. and it doesn't help that my husband has Asperger's Syndrome. When someone asks me if I want to go do this or that or have lunch I just have to make myself do it, and I almost always have a really good time - and if I do, then I go again. pretty soon your life and theirs become interconnected and, there's a new friendship. Seasons in life change. it is nice to have those friends who have always been there, sometimes closer, sometimes not. my first friend outside my family has been my friend for more than 40 years as we met in kindergarten - but I have made new friends even this past year. some friends have gone out of my life as seasons change. that's ok too. one of the reasons I love facebook as I can keep in contact at least on the edges with many of those people.

Salmon is so good for you. I wish I liked it. My brother in law is a fisherman, so he gives us a good bit of salmon and I fix it for the family. I just keep trying it to see if my tastes have changed.
-
one of my very favorite salads is leftover grilled chicken breast, baby spinach, feta cheese, dried cherries and walnuts. sometimes I put a tablespoon of a champagne vinaigrette on it, sometimes not. everytime I have it for lunch some coworker will ask me where I got it, and I just say, it's leftovers So easy to throw together and so yummy!

Isn't it great?!!!?!?!!? my best friend came over to help me plant two roses today (next weekend is my birthday) and when we were sitting in my chairs out back, visiting afterwards, I pulled my legs up into the chair. haven't done that in FOREVER. before surgery I would have needed to be inside in the AC as it was warm and we had been working. It was nice to feel normal. to sit in the sun and visit. -
Scarring and how many incisions?
Christinamo7 replied to Lizardlady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 5, two are about 1 inch and the others are about 1/3 of an inch. I seriously doubt there'll be much in the way of a visible scar, and unlike KF, I'm not even hairy there to hide them. :-D -
you're just fine - some people's swelling goes down faster than others, and I think that makes the biggest difference in moving forward with the diet.
-
my plan allowed for fish on soft foods, after week 2. I do not eat fish. my nut approved very moist crock pot chicken breast, and I did fine with that. small bites, chew well. rest between bites because it is so easy to have "one bite too many"

have you ever tried to make your own? my mother makes the very best venison Jerky I've *ever* had. mine is good, but not quite up to hers. It's not hard at all if you have an oven. and so much cheaper!
