    Bikram Yoga

at one month my doctor cleared me for yoga - but only you will know if your doctor has cleared you for more than walking - it is important because we all heal at different rates. whatever you do, go easy at first and see how your body responds, because this isn't a race. There are few things I enjoy more than my bedtime yoga routine. as far as hot yoga, as always, listen to what BigViffer says.

Not calling me to schedule sx

that is so frustrating! I would keep after them and ask to speak to a manager if needed.

    Saving Money?

for me - no. but I live in a family with young adults and a teen as well as a husband. So while I may be eating less, they are not,

    Ab exercises.

I'm a third recommendation for yoga/pilates. I have a pilates reformer and I like that machine a lot, but I do find the pilates more challenging than yoga. I really like the Peggy Cappy videos because she always has someone doing an easier version of the pose, a regular version and a challenging version, so you can grow with the program.

    Leading up to my death?

It was my coworker's cousin - so I had a general idea about some serious problems with blood sugar and heart - but nothing specific that I could go into.

What Fitness Tracker do you use?

I don't use a device. I use mapmywalk to track my workouts and periodically enter my food data for a check up on my calories.
  8. my doctors office uses this chart for sleeve patients.

    Any Trekkies out there?

I love Babylon 5! David and I might have to find a way to rewatch that this coming winter.

    Leading up to my death?

a week before my surgery a coworker (very small office) had her cousin die in the hospital immediately following WLS. I did not have the health issues he had and it didn't worry me. I was far more concerned that obesity would take my life than this surgery. However, that being said, anytime I have ever had surgery I did review my will and documents, just in case. I have children, one still a minor, and I think that is just being responsible. I didn't expect to die, but I didn't want to leave anything unclear.

    What is everyone drinking?

Fairlife milk, ocean spray cran grape diet (has splenda- so good on the rocks) or Vitamin Water zero (I like the orange, fruit punch and lemonaid). unjury chocolate splendor.

    Insurance requires failing. What?

right because if you loose weight without surgery they think you do not need it. my insurance had the same thing. I met with my doctor for 3 months, she told me what I "should" eat, but the bottom line was I needed to not gain or loose very much at all. which was fairly easy for me.

    Any Trekkies out there?

When I had my Hysterectomy last August, David and I watched all the different series and movies because he wanted to make sure I rested like I was supposed to
  14. I have a job interview today, and it will be interesting to see if I am received differently with the weight loss - I certainly carry myself with more confidence now.

interview went well. now we wait/ I am thankful that I have a job so there is less stress, but I sure would like something different. I didn't notice any difference in how I was received- but it was nice to not have to worry over how far away I needed to park.

    Work related

I applied for FMLA to protect my job. HR had the paperwork indicating what was being done but they can not talk about it. I did tell my coworkers and manager, but if I had chosen not to they only would have known that I was going to be out for x amount of time on FMLA.

    Learning from my mistakes

I have the same history. I have the sleeve. I have lost 30 pounds and stopped for two weeks (actually gain 3 pounds loose 3 pounds for two weeks). but I just sat and entered my food from all weekend today- into my thing I log it on/ and I am *not* eating enough to gain any FAT. so it has to be different, it will pass. I did try on a pair of jeans this weekend that 6 months ago I could not pull up - two weeks ago were probably 2 inches from buttoning and they fit perfectly now. So, things are changing and that will have to be enough of a victory for this week. keep going, one day at a time.
  17. I don't know anything about them - so no advice there, but you may want to try pilates, or yoga or something like that as you loose weight to pull the tummy in. I like Peggy Cappy's videos because she shows someone in a modified pose, a normal pose and advanced all the way through. makes it less intimidating.

  19. For me the thing is, what I used to think was "moderation" was *really* more food than my body needs. it is actually SHOCKING how little food we need to maintain at any weight. And so, as I go forward - 2 Cookies or wings or whatever occasionally - maybe. but I can get a lot more bang out of my (calorie) buck with other types of food. I think you've been given yes, but you may not want to as the most reliable answer. only you know if a longer healthier life is worth it or if you are satisfied with your life as it is.

    I know I post a lot

well that liquid stuff they have you take before surgery is an option - but how long after the milk of magnesia? What does your team say about it? how interesting that you feel hungry - I feel like I can't eat one more bite when I am in that situation.

    Proof I Did It!

care to educate me a bit? what happens now, do you take time to rest, when do you start to run again? what is the recovery like from something like this?

    Proof I Did It!

this is crazy good! Thank you for sharing your experience with us! How do you feel?

    Ready to cry

you can do this. start counting off the hours, if you need to sleep then sleep. The immediate post op period was the most difficult for me because of full liquids. it will be worth it.

    First time seeing scars

it will be worth it! what did you have done? did the shower feel lovely or were you anxious?
