    Popcorn

interesting. I find that it a little bit stuffs me and I stay with that full feeling a long time, it is not a slider food for me. but it will not be a regular snack either because of the stuffed feeling after just a little bit.

    No friends

maybe I am just ancient, but I don't think 38 is "too old" for anything. except maybe high school. you will make a lot of new friends in your life! but really, they may just be waiting for an invite, and it is GREAT that your hub is supportive. so many people do not have that. I went through some depression in the weeks following surgery (hormone dump) and you may be doing the same, getting out in the sunshine, even if it is by yourself does wonders.
  4. I love to SWIM, and it's almost summer! YAY! and I like Peggy Cappy's yoga videos. I also walk walk walk walk at dark thirty every morning. what interests you?

    Shorter than I thought!

I was always 5'2 1/2" but having all those kids took their toll on me, I'm 5'1 1/2 everytime they measure me now.

    Popcorn

I don't know what your plan allows. some groups are more specific in their diet. I was cleared to eat any foods at 4 weeks, but to focus on Protein, veg and whole fruits first. I have had popcorn a couple of times. I can manage about 1 cup before I am done, lol. but, that wee bit scratched the itch.
  7. wonderful! I have always liked Splenda, but I have been drinking the Vitamin Water zero and it has stevia, which I really like. I love lemonaid. I still find stevia too sweet for coffee though, I have been playing with blending it and using less.

  11. you can train yourself to look for comfort in other ways. walking, yoga for stress relief, epsom salts baths, manicures and pedicures, crochet or knitting, kick boxing. but it will take time. food is really good at this job, and it takes a while to learn new habits. make the most of your post op time to find what works for you.

    Jerky Quest

Could you give us your recipe. I would love to try to make my own Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App this is a good place to start, but tweak the seasonings to your tastes. I usually use a top sirloin and cut thin slices from that - you will need a good knife. freezing the meat for a very short time (not until frozen, just stiff) can make slicing it easier. 1 1/2 to 2 pounds flank steak 2/3 cup Worcestershire sauce 2/3 cup soy sauce 1 tablespoon honey 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper 2 teaspoons onion powder 1 teaspoon liquid smoke 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes I use something more like these ingredients, but these cooking instructions http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-homemade-beef-or-turkey-snack-recipes-from-the-kitchn-95962 obviously when I can get venison, it's almost FREE. and when I have to use beef I watch for sales.

Will I like the new me?!

I was cold the other night and David's flannel shirt was on the couch (don't get me started on THAT issue) but I was able to put it on over my tee shirt and comfortably warm up in it. I haven't ever been able to steal his clothes in our relationship so that kind of made me feel like a giddy teenage girlfriend. He's lucky I didn't go find him and wake him up to share my enthusiasm.

    WLS and Eating Disorders

I don't know if she is just really caffeinated, or if she likes having her eyebrows pushed up so far but I had to listen rather than watch. agree about the dogmatic attitude. and I agree with OKCPirate (of course- as we all should have a general policy to do so) her advice seems to be more appropriate for not your average WLS patient. I have a friend who was not honest in preop about a history of eating disorders - and it has caused extreme problems for her in the years since surgery. It has been painful to watch the repercussions. It is very important to address any issues before surgery, and then you will still have things surprise you that you didn't realize were a problem until later, and then more help is needed. But, it is NEVER too late! If you are struggling with any kind of eating disorder, find help! you are not a failure. *normal is a setting on the dryer.
  16. I meant to - but well. we got busy with life. I do have a number of pictures here or there because my kids challenged me a few years ago that I wasn't in their pictures (kids don't CARE that you are heavy, to your kids you are probably beautiful) well, that is because I am always the photographer! after that I made it a point to make sure I am in some of their pictures and once I get to the point of putting up before and after shots, I should be able to find something. Although I am not photogenic, never have been. all my life my mother got a roll of film back and said, TINA, do you have to constantly make faces???? (I can't help it, there is always something amusing going on) she loves digital cameras. she just deletes the weird ones now.

    NSV: Bathing Suit

that's fabulous! I will have to get a new suit before summer vacation - but don't know what size yet.
  20. well I would focus on liquids before even Protein. the more dehydrated you get the harder it is to get started again. you just have to make yourself sip sip sip - little bits. otherwise you will be more nauseated.

Will I like the new me?!

well, the good news is if you DON'T like the new you - you can change! we'll be here to help you talk things out.

How long did you sleep on your back?

I just laid on my left side with a pillow sort of supporting my tummy. in any case this should completely pass in a couple of weeks.

How long did you sleep on your back?

only in the hospital, I am a committed side sleeper, even if I start out on my back I end up on my side. it was only uncomfortable when I was changing positions.
