Will anything help with my saggy stomach?
Christinamo7 replied to rydersmama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
in the meantime I would choose a style of panties that will not let it pop out the bottom, more of a regular brief style. I love the brief style at Soma.com that has the lace at the waist. they do not look or feel like granny panties to me. (although as I am a Grandmother, take that fashion advice with a grain of salt, lol) you may want something like a spanx style shorts or some such that would hold it all in together. My mother lost 150 pounds about 24 years ago (has kept off more than 100 of it despite heel problems!!) and she just wears jeans with some spandex and tucks it into her jeans. she hates doctors and so plastics are not going to happen for her. -
Did any of you have to try prescription weight loss pills before looking into the gastric sleeve?
Christinamo7 replied to amy120's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would find another doctor. -
my work place is not good. staff has been cut to where we all have to do the job 3 employees were doing 4 years ago. We are under a lot of pressure and not spoken to nicely if everything does not get done. but, I keep applying for other things, and in the meantime I get up and come in. It has been so miserable that my husband and I have written out a 2 year plan to where if he gets an expected promotion this summer we will start ticking things off the list and once complete I will quit and go home if I have not found something I like doing. Hoping in my 5 year plan will be grandchildren (please) who live close enough for me to keep them during the day so their parents won't need daycare. We'll see. my only grandboy right now lives in Arkansas - but with 6 grown children someone closer is bound to get the urge to have children sooner or later! two are engaged at least, that gives me hope.

if your two week diet is to shrink your liver so they can get it out of the way then it is not extreme. you want them to be able to *easily* get to your inside bits that they need to get to. I was "lucky"? in that I did not have to do a two week liquid diet. why? I was sick all last year and my most recent cat scan showed that while I still had fatty liver (looking forward to seeing if that has changed in July!) my liver was already small enough to safely do surgery, so I just had to do liquids the afternoon before and Water only the day of surgery. but I had been quite sick all year, so in my mind maybe you're the lucky one having to do the 2 weeks. all I can do is echo Jamie - if you do cheat please do so with something other than carbs, and try not to cheat. it's in your own best interests. and hey, for me the liquid diet I was on after surgery was the roughest patch - only liquids and hormones going crazy, but if you can make it through that a whole new world is ready to open at your feet.

An Essay About the Experience of Being Fat
Christinamo7 replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
excellent read. my experience was different at the beginning - because I was around 32 when I became obese - but some of the issues with people judging what I should or should not be eating, or assuming that I was eating a certain way. My end goal is to be healthier. whether that is at 180 - 160 - or 130 pounds - I am ok with. just planning to stick with my program and see where it settles. I am already off diabetes meds, almost of bp meds and weigh less than the husband. so, if other people do not view me as a success because I don't get thin enough to suit them, I don't really care. I'm a happy girl already and it is only going to get better. -

The journey to health.....

we all do the best we can with what we know when we know. life beats us up. forgive yourself and try to move forward. <3 -
well. I don't know on the app. on the computer it is up in the right where your name is, then under settings, then choose ignore preferences and that is where you can add user names of who you want to ignore.

just thought of this too - helped me with two of my pregnancies when I had nausea severe enough to need to be hospitalized. https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/patient-education/acupressure-nausea-and-vomiting -
did you know there is an ignore feature for anyone you find annoying?

The journey to health.....
Christinamo7 replied to her1981's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think the end goal has to be put one foot in front of the other and continue to move forward! I posted a picture a few weeks ago of my uncle who is an inspiration to me. He probably had close to 200-250 to loose when he had the sleeve a few years ago. He is, well he's got to be around 70, and he is not going to get down to "goal" weight. but the surgery has saved his live. The last time I saw him before sleeve I cried for an hour as my husband drove towards Tennessee, convinced I would not see him again this side of heaven. He was so ill. heart disease, kidney disease, bad diabetes. I did not know he was having the sleeve. Since the sleeve he has lost over 100 pounds and had a kidney removed for cancer. His wife had colon cancer discovered and he was able to do what he needed to do to care for her and to be present as she declined. The surgery saved his live, and gave him back a life worth living. Recently my cousin posted that her daughter and niece spent the night at Grandpa's house after Prom (because he lives in town) - what memories! I know he is thankful to be there for them. For me, as I went on my journey to WLS it was discovered that I had a high WBC - it was bad. So, PET scans, cat scans, blood tests, repeat repeat. End of the day I have enlarged lymph nodes in my abdomen. It is either Cancer, a serious kind of infection or sclerosing mesenteritis. Right now they think the last thing is most likely. I thought I was never going to have the sleeve, even though my oncologist said getting the weight off was the best thing for me in order to fight off whatever it is. I was confused and scared. Finally had 1 !!! normalish WBC and was able to get approved. but it ain't over. I go back to oncology in July. We are two of the ones for whom the cosmetic benefits are a BONUS - no longer a diabetic, almost off bp meds, and I really feel this surgery has given me the best chance at a future where I can enjoy my grown kids and grandchild. I am so thankful. I am thankful for you too. -
Did people's treatment of you change as you lost weight?
Christinamo7 replied to SarahSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
it's going to be interesting to me to see how I change, but also how different groups of people perceive me. I was not heavy growing up, or as a young adult. So as the weight comes off when I go home on vacation - how will that people group respond vs. people in Tennessee who have only known me obese? I am just curious. It is akin to being known as the woman with 7 children for so many years, but now that all but one are grown as I make new friends they do not perceive me in that way - and are shocked! (don't know why?!?) to learn I have 1. children who are almost 30 and 2. so many of them! these things have helped me to take myself less seriously, so that's a good thing. -
it is important to keep an eye on where things are posted. to the OP, you may not want to visit the rants and raves, or more social areas if you prefer to keep to a particular bariatric topic. But as many of us will hopefully become friends (because I think it is very important to have friends who are going through the same issues as you are - it is a *key* to long term success) we will often veer off into left field, just as we do when talking to friends in regular daily life. I have left a lot of other boards because everyone just wants everything to be "nice" and "get along" and I really believe STUFFING feelings and thoughts is an important reason some of us became overweight.

picture or link? -
I would suggest something gentle like yoga. I like the Peggy Cappy videos. while, yes it is exercise, her videos I think would actually help you unwind, which I think you are in serious need to do. stress can do a serious number on our bodies! I have a 15-20 minute bedtime routine that pretty much anyone could do. Also maybe treat yourself to epsom salts baths - to calm and destress. if you can get some with lavender I think that might be beneficial. and just stick with what you know to do, Protein and Water, Vitamins and Calcium, low carb. move as you can. you can do this! and you will be extra pleased with yourself when you do.
