Will a Week Off be Enough for a HR desk Job

if you have any complications you will need FMLA. I strongly recommend that you take it - even if the ones who know will have NO business talking about it unless you welcome them to do so. on another local group a lady has just lost her job because she had issues post surgery and had not taken out FMLA. mine covers me for a full year.

    Frustrated

the thing about an internet forum is you are going to get *all* kinds of feedback. take the time to invest in this community and be open and you will get back more than you put into it. I only saw helpful answers. You have lost a lot of weight. I also retain Water, and my doctor wants to wean me off my diuretic due to my blood pressure is normal now. I am scared of that! but it needs to happen. so I will bravely march forward. it may stall me for "weight" loss but I doubt it will stall my "fat" loss, and really, at the end of the day, isn't it the fat loss that matters? the scale is only one measurement. keep going, and try not to compare your journey to other people's journey.

    First NSV! Lool

YES! that was always a fear of mine, so I would sit on the edge of the seat frame until I knew how the chair would do if it was a folding chair.

Will a Week Off be Enough for a HR desk Job

my doctor authorized 4 weeks, and I took out FMLA to protect my job - just in case - but I had no complications and I went back after a week, however since my job does not respect healthy boundaries I had the doctor limit me to 6 hour days for the remainder of the first month. in my opinion you will probably be fine, but it is better to plan for the worst and hope for the best so you don't get caught short. and congrats on getting your date!

    First NSV! Lool

I don't know if it is funny or not, but I love that my boobs don't try to strangle me when I lay down at night anymore. no more sleeping with two pillows to elevate my head! sometimes it is those little everyday victories that mean so much to us!
  9. my hands feel so much better post surgery, I have decided to attempt (once AGAIN) to learn the piano this summer.

@Christinamo7 - I always thought being part of a Percussion Section that was 75% girls was pretty damn cool back in the 1978-1980 timeframe. Sounds as though we have some band geeks on this 'status update' - those were some of the VERY best days of my life....

@Christinamo7 - my son marched the contra and that thing was a beast! He started off playing the oboe, then went to low brass. Love the low brass...

I was in marching band and concert band, choir. yes - some of the best days of my life! We just attended what is probably our last school concert Tuesday, as the baby has not taken choir since jr. high. I miss band.

In need of a pep talk...

one of the reasons I wanted surgery was due to developing diabetes. I work in an eye doctors office, and admittedly I see diabetics with serious problems, and it was probably more scary for me than the average person. So, I understand their thinking. BUT. you have to decide with your team what is in YOUR best interests overall. I am personally more afraid of the complications of obesity than I was from surgery. You will find a lot of caring people here who will tell you the surgery saved their life, and that it is the best thing that ever happened to them. I am so glad I was brave enough to make this change for my future. nothin but happy with my sleeve.

    NSV shout outs

THIS is priceless! I had been wondering how the visit went. I will see my parents this weekend for the first time since my surgery. the reaction won't be as good as yours, but I am looking forward to seeing how they respond.

Nothing to speed up weightloss like divorce

Bless. there's never a good time for this kind of thing, and my heart goes out to you. You will emerge like a butterfly, but I know how hard it is in the meantime. my first husband divorced me after 9 years and with 5 children under 8 because he thought it would solve all his problems to get rid of me. it was a very difficult time for me, and especially the year after, but once I got on my feet again I am forever thankful that I did not have to grow old with him.
  14. Thank you. It does help to hear others have been in a similar situation and eventually got there. I hope you're doing well now that you've had your surgery!! Thank you, I think I am? symptoms are down. I'll have a repeat of cat scan and bloodwork in July, and see what that tells us. I am very thankful I was able to find a way, and I do not want you to give up either!

    5 Minute Stress Relief

whenever needed I turn off the lights in my little office and take a "nap" during lunch. deep breathing, classical music, no lights and feet up. I don't actually get all the way asleep, but it does wonders for hitting the reset button.
  17. I am hoping and praying you can get some help and get this resolved. And it is time for insurance to start covering the one thing that has a good chance at helping with obesity issues. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I know exactly how you feel. I started in February 2015 and wanted to get surgery last year as after an auto accident and hysterectomy I had met my deductible. A high WBC sidelined me. I still don't know if my enlarged lymph nodes in my tummy are cancer infection or sclerosis mesenteritis. But finally got a normal WBC and had surgery this year I. February. Not ideal, and I cried a lot over the delay. Spent a lot of time getting doctors to conference with each other- but now it is behind me. I hope for a timely resolution to your situation but I wanted you to know others have had the same frustration. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Why do people bash weight loss surgery?

what drives me crazy about this attitude is that if there WAS an easy way - if such a thing existed, of course we would ALL trot over to the easy way. it's human nature. of course we would. easy is good. if they would just stop and consider it for two minutes they would know that is ridiculous.
  22. I will be at 3 months next week. the process to *get* surgery took a whole YEAR for me due to a weird medical problem. I had a LOT of time to dream about my after, and so far, it has been worth it all.
  23. this is so very encouraging to me! thank you so much for sharing it with us. I think it would be amazing to do a pull up. and to be at stretch goal? extry good.
  24. I was thinking that same way a year ago, and now here I am post surgery, doing all kinds of things, loosing weight! next year you will be in this seat. it is very exciting!

Why do people bash weight loss surgery?

I think there are a lot of reasons. 1. people who ought to consider surgery but are afraid - and who may be jealous of the success they see, or fearful that it wouldn't work anyway because nothing else does. 2. people who ought to have surgery but for one reason or another can't afford it or are not medically eligible due to other problems and may be jealous. 3. people who do not struggle with their weight and honestly have no idea how difficult and DIFFERENT the process is for those who have put on weight and may have medication or other issues that work against them. they mean well - but they are just not capable of understanding why someone would need surgery. I do not hide my WLS or that I am trying to loose weight, but the trigger for me was diabetes, and I tell people I had surgery to try to reverse diabetes, and that tends to shut them up, because for some WARPED reason they see diabetes as a disease, and they do not see obesity as a disease but rather as laziness.
