    Protein, Protein, Protein

My surgeon is highly skilled and respected where i live and id prefer to listen to him than those on forums in regards to my best interests post op of course you are! but this is an internet forum we are participating in, so it is only natural that we would discuss these things? At the end of the day I am going to listen to my team (I am paying them for their advice after all!) discuss with my peer group (my LOVELY friends here #1) and then sort out what is going to be best for me. there was more than one person on here on many threads advocating what I think are really dangerous practices - so, here we are discussing. it's good!

    Before and After

Thank you for the post! I love seeing before/during/after pictures. Helps me keep my eye on the prize!
  3. touch down taco dip was a big fav of mine. family ate it with chips and I ate it with a fork. 1 can of refried Beans. grate a clove of garlic and a smidge of taco seasoning. I also like to add 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. spread it in a shallow baking dish then in a food processor, or by hand blend together 6 ounces of sour cream and half a package of cream cheese with some taco dip. when it is all blended spread on top of the beans - add shredded mexican cheese to top it off cook for 20 minutes or so around 350 degrees. then I ate it just like that. now I add salsa to the top.

    Eating after sleeve

the plan I was on allowed to take meds in applesauce or sugar free pudding - have you tried something like that?
  5. if ginger ale helps you, why not try a ginger tea? maybe that would settle your tummy. do they have you on any medication for nausea?

    nausea

at that point I liked refried Beans, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs. things like that. how are you doing with liquids? sometimes when we are dehydrated nausea gets worse. if I am constipated I can have an aversion to food/drink also. it does get better!

Going to ask mom to move out

I haven't been in that same situation, but I have had adult children to need to come back home for a time - and whenever I have a minor child(ren) still at home, I am sorry but you are an adult now - the minor's needs come first. my current 21 yr old had a hard time with the fact that when he moved out his sisters got their own room, and when he moved back in he got put in the den, I did not move them back in together. I told him to be grateful for what I was able to offer him, and I remind him he didn't move back in here to be a kid again. He either has to act like an adult and make sure I am glad he's living here, or he is more than welcome to make other arrangements and come home once a month for dinner so we can catch up. it is a hard place you're in, but yes - even if the teen were to provoke her, she should be the adult. she should be on your team helping you as another adult in the home. it sounds like she does not want to do that. While it may be hard to find other arrangements, perhaps this is her (maybe subconscious) way of forcing the issue.

    Protein suggestions

One shake, even with these additions should NOT last a few days. that is not good advice.

    Protein, Protein, Protein

yes, I don't know whether people are serious or not - but I am afraid that they are, and unknowingly setting themselves up for failure.

    Water!

you don't consider the way you were eating with just the Soup, and being dishonest with the psychologist to be a sign of an eating problem?

    Worried

call whatever the number is for your clinic then, chances are it will roll over into an after hours answering service or give you the number to call.

    Dealing with Boss and Work

yes. your FMLA will go to HR for approval. Your supervisor will know you are on FMLA, but not the reason for it. your supervisor won't know if it is elective or not. I was asked to postpone mine (another employee was out on FMLA) and I said I have already waited a year for this surgery. I need it. I am not waiting another 1-3 months. I am sorry if inconveniences you. and I wouldn't warn anyone until the paperwork is approved, but only you know what is best in that relationship. once it is approved I would tell her.

    NSV: Bathing Suit

that's some real progress right there! I am thrilled to hear it.
  19. made me feel like a kid, for a few minutes anyway. I put my hair in a ponytail, just to maximize the kid effect. maybe should do pigtails next time, ha.

    Exercise

my work outs were limited to walking only for 4 weeks, but by then I was walking about 2 - 2.5 miles per day. so if you feel that ambitious it should be just fine.
  21. in a stunning bout of insanity, I pulled out my jump rope this week, and it is a lot easier now than it was. kinda fun too. will I make a habit of it? probably not, but it is good to shake up the workout from time to time.
  22. to be sure, your group is the only one who will know the answer. at my practice you had to attend one support group meeting before surgery could be approved, but did not *have* to attend them after that. by the time I got my date, that was all behind me. let us know how you are doing.
  23. How far out are you? I loved my band til year three. I didn't mean that to be rude. I'm truly wondering about people several years out... if they are still happy. I am three months out - but I am sorry, I didn't know you were looking for people who were sleeved several years ago.

I've caught a few people in there and had a nice chat. :-) it is a lot easier with the chat button on the top menu.
