children are NOT fat from eating fruit. they are fat from eating too much sugar and processed foods. but not from eating real food.
-

Hungry Hungry Hungry
Christinamo7 replied to m.sexton's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
what kinds of things are you eating? I am finding that the more Protein I eat, along with having enough fat in my diet I stay pretty satiated. I am not anything like that far along, but I have read quite a few accounts that if you're letting in some bad carbs they tend to make you want to eat more. -
I am looking forward to hearing about your progress as you train, and then your success at the event.

OMG! Over half way to goal!
Christinamo7 replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
that is fabulous!!!! no, but I am only 3 months out and over 30% so I still think that is pretty fantastic. I am so pleased with my sleeve and being able to change my health. I am now beginning to understand why when I told my doctor my goal was 160, he thought I would likely blow right past that. We'll see. still afraid to dream that big! that is fabulous!!!! no, but I am only 3 months out and over 30% so I still think that is pretty fantastic. Meals with a beverage
Christinamo7 replied to moppet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
with my team's plan I can drink right up until I start to eat and then wait 30 minutes after, although to be fair - if I am eating mostly Protein it is sometimes an hour before I can stand the thought of drinking, other than a sip or so if something is super spicy or my palete needs refreshed. I was told not to worry about that. for me it's one of those thing I thought would be a bigger problem than it has turned out to be. -

Question about purée food...
Christinamo7 replied to Express09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
one thing I liked very much on my soft foods stage (which would apply here) is touchdown taco dip. 1 can of refried Beans with two garlic cloves grated into it, a cup of shredded cheddar, and some taco seasoning. mix together and spread in a small baking pan. blend together 1/2 a brick of cream cheese and 3/4 a tub of sour cream (I like reduced fat) and some taco seasoning. spread this on top of the refried beans mixture. add shredded mexican cheese to the top. bake at 350 for 20 minutes or so. usually the family eats this with chips and salsa on top but in the beginning I left the salsa off. I eat it with a spoon. it is very comforting, satisfying and makes you feel like you are eating real food. BUT. go slow, the line from just enough to I want to die is a very thin line in the beginning and easy to cross. -
Monday morning - time to rein in the smart *ssy-ness and try to behave myself.

5 Minute Stress Relief
Christinamo7 replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
a lot of people do not realize how refreshing taking time for slow, deep breathing is. If you have a headache coming on, it can stave it off, if you are fatigued it can give you what you need to get through the afternoon. -

How much wardrobe to get in a size
Christinamo7 replied to csawesome's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
also shop places like TJ Maxx clearance, Marshalls. I find loads of things on sale for 10$ or less. I've just bought two pair of pants for at home, and shopping for work pants but haven't found anything. I found one pair in the next size down, so I snatched them up, because sooner or later they'll fit. probably before I get around to hemming them! if I find something I like on sale good, I buy the next size down too. I wear a uniform shirt at work, so it's just going to have to be too big until we order more in July, or else if I find a new job. also shop places like TJ Maxx clearance, Marshalls. 2 weeks post op & bloating
Christinamo7 replied to Rvamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it can be from not getting enough fluids, and can also be due to constipation. -
oooooo. I'd have said - I bet I'm less likely to hurt myself being fat than you are to hurt yourself being stupid!

the most change will come from diet. I love walking! and I walk most every day - but if you are exhausted you need to balance that with listening to your body and rest. the huge success stories we see here are from following their own eating plan. some work out, some walk, some run, some do no real exercise. -
that is a GREAT NSV! now, hold off on the emailing and walking, lol.

3 months post op

I am in the Nashville Tennessee area. I have a really good bariatric team (except that NUT who drives me crazy), a lovely NP as a PCP and a wonderful doctor at the oncology clinic who I think of so highly. he is a specialist. my case has them all scratching their heads - but they keep a good eye on me. they know the WBC is caused by enlarged lymph nodes where my small intestines are - I had NO idea there was tissue holding your guts together until this happened! makes sense though. there's what they call "stranding" in there too. it's inflammation. so they think it is either cancer, an infection or something called sclerosing mesnteritis which is what they think it probably is. isn't it frustrating that all of our other problems don't go away with WLS? seriously. we should only have to deal wit one thing at a time.
