What are you doing post op you haven't done in a long time (or ever)
Christinamo7 replied to LisaMergs's topic in The Lounge
I grow a couple that are thornless and do well in the south for me. I bought them from Heirloom Roses - one is a David Austin called Heritage and the other is an old bourbon called Zephirine Drouhin http://www.heirloomroses.com/zephirine-drouhin.html David Austin's Mary Rose and the sister roses to it do well in the south for me. If you ever get back into growing roses we can chat about it some more. I have mine underplanted with orange mint (not as crazy as spearmint) and lemon balm. keeps down the weeds and bugs and is easy to trim up once a month. My rose garden is surrounded by sidewalk, house and driveway so the mint can't get out of where I want it. -

my Rose garden has never looked more lovely. I just haven't felt well enough to tend it the way it ought to be tended. brings me a lot of pleasure. it's rainy today but I plan to be out there the next two evenings. We have an old wooden play set in the back yard that we took the swings off a couple of years ago and put on a bench swing, but under the slide area my son is going to help me turn into a sand box with a removable deck cover for when the grandboy comes to visit. I haven't done any projects like that in a few years. it feels good to make plans and know I can make them happen. I have been on long hikes twice since surgery - which since my diabetes diagnosis I had not done. and it is easier now than it has been in 5 years. -
HOW DO YOU SUCCEED WITH HEALTHY EATING WHEN YOU'RE MEXICAN

cooking light is a magazine/web site that has taught me a lot about making favorites healthier. It can be a challenge, but worth it. -
Shower + Incisions

@@Aliel84 whenever you are released to go in the bath or swimming would be fine. I started using coconut oil in that area at 4 weeks. -
Bbq Season has started.... What will you eat?
Christinamo7 replied to Deleted Profile's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
rainy today but Monday we are grilling chicken breasts some regular bbq seasoning - and some (for me) with a lime cilantro marinade. -
if we could just have about 10 Saturday's in a row, I think I'd be good for a while..........
-
seriously. although I guess I shouldn't say that considering I'm getting laid off June 30th and then every day will be "Saturday" until I find a new job.
-
I do too! but first priority will be recovering from surgery, then the massive job hunt will begin. I'm fortunate in that I am getting a decent severance package from my current company, so I'm not panicked....yet

Advice - wish I'd followed
Christinamo7 replied to chavezmommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it could be that there are a lot of different reasons regarding the hair loss. A number of years ago I went through severe emotional trauma, my son was in a mental institution and then into a group home and the state played hard ball with me, and then David and I were separated for about 6-7 months or so. maybe 9. can't really remember anymore.... it was about 18 months of HELL. anyway I lost so much hair I thought I would go bald. who knows if or what I was eating then. I could barely make it through the work day. kinda proud I survived actually. but so far since surgery, no significant hair loss. I am loosing weight at a pretty good pace I think, well over 30% of the excess at 3 months.... but not loosing crazy fast. haven't ever really had any trouble getting in my Protein or Vitamins or fluids most days. (I'm only 3 months out - a lot of people said they started loosing hair after that, so we will see) because there could be so many reasons people loose - or don't - it's not something anyone should beat themselves up over. It's not something I worry about. if it falls out, I'll whack it off and get a wig for a while. it'll grow back. -
Incision cleaning?
Christinamo7 replied to californiabern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had super glue on mine and was told not to put anything on them. Just follow whatever your instructions are. once the glue came off I use coconut oil on my skin. -
Am i in trouble?
Christinamo7 replied to GSleeve822's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know! before surgery I had diabetes, and rarely allowed myself fruit. now I can have some little bits of fruit. before I had to struggle not to eat a lot - now I have to remind myself to eat. but we are all here to help each other make the changes. -
I'm so lost in the if and the buts or I'll do it or not .
Christinamo7 replied to Jersey4sexy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was scared too. it's a normal feeling - I just got to where I was more scared of the complications of obesity than I was of surgery and lifestyle changes. -
Coffee after Sleeve...
Christinamo7 replied to NikkiRT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
some plans allow it, some do not. I felt like I should wait to see if I was getting all my liquids in. so at the least you will be without it for some time. it helps to wean off it slowly during pre-op to avoid the headaches. -

grazing all day is bad. to have small meals and preplanned Snacks is not bad, it is necessary when you are only able to eat a small amount at a time. once you are 3-4 months, or at least by 6 months you should be able to eat enough at a meal that you don't need the snacks all the time. I am working away from the snacks and I am just over 3 months out. -
When can I get in a pool?
Christinamo7 replied to Mangolicious's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it's going to depend on your surgery and surgeon's preference. beach, probably any time. in the Water? for me it was 4 weeks - for your belly, I'd think you could dangle your feet in anytime. -
Family poaching off your plate
Christinamo7 replied to Megall9's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
my husband does this all the time, but it doesn't bother me. He doesn't have a weight problem and I'm not worried about his health. since this makes you uncomfortable it is certainly something you should talk about. now the girls, at home, try to snag some of my food all the time, and once I'm done it's ok, but not until I tell them to go for it. -

quite the opposite, really. edited to add, unless someone quotes them. the edit doesn't affect the quote. -
Constipation.
Christinamo7 replied to its_me_Mrs.P's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this has been my only real issue since surgery. I take a stool softener, MOM capsule and benefiber. Doctor said if I still need the MOM at 6 months they will send me to a GI doctor who can prescribe something that would be better long term. I'm just happy that things are moving along now. -
VITAMINS /LABS NEED HELP!
Christinamo7 replied to Womanvsmirror's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had bought the opurity Vitamins and Calcium, and they were ok. my labs are excellent in terms of vitamins and minerals, and when I used them up I switched back to the ones I took pre op because I was no longer required to use chewables. -
I hope you have a great time, and also learn some things about what is and isn't going to work for you going forward in your life.

Cottage cheese, yogurt going down too easy?

oh no, don't worry. they're both little more than liquids. -
10 days post op, just fell down my stairs. Ouch!
Christinamo7 replied to JosieJ's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
bless! I have a vision deficit that has led me to a number of falls on stairs. I feel for ya! they can be rough on the bum. and you can't even take an epsom salts bath! well you could if you only let the Water get up to your thighs. but there's not much fun in that. if it were me, I'd probably take a tylenol. I hope there's someone around who could maybe clean up the mess for you. -
Septoplasty/Rhinoplasty Recovery -Struggling to Eat
Christinamo7 replied to melyssafaye's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I would reach out to your bariatric team, but I would think for the next few days at least fluids would be primary and I wouldn't want to eat to make myself sick. But your NUT might have some suggestions about foods that may be easier for you to tolerate. also maybe some chicken broth? things like that? -
well, I don't know. what does the package say? I use about a cup and a half of milk and one scoop of unjury in mine - but I suppose some of that has to do with how much milk you want and how much flavor of the Protein powder.
-
I just make sure I am blending mine on low speed, it doesn't take much to mix it. if I overmix it then I have froth.

do let us know how you're doing after you speak with them.
