How did you lose weight?
Christinamo7 replied to Rvamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure why there's so much negativity about checking the scale often... I'm pre-op but I know every time I'm trying to lose weight I check the scale... As pre-op I don't expect to see daily changes, anytime I step on and it goes down it motivates me to keep up the good work... If it goes up often as it often does it tell me I need to try harder.I do understand the weight loss process after surgery is somewhat different . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I am on the scale ALL the TIME. :-) but, it's official on Monday morning. ah. probably would be better if I wasn't but it's what I do. -
Sugar Cravings
Christinamo7 replied to beautifully2114's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it's important to eat your Protein throughout the day at least a little at a time, or drink it whether you feel like it or not. -

Weight Watchers/Lean Cuisine
Christinamo7 replied to moppet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Weight Watchers/Lean Cuisine
Christinamo7 replied to moppet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes to what @@Kindle said - however it is pretty easy to make some good Protein dishes that freeze up well in your own portion sizes so that you basically end up with the same grab and go convenience. I usually do a lot of cooking for the week on Sunday and I believe several others here do the same. I try to put a few dishes in the fridge and a couple in the freezer, so I can pull out a variety for the week and not eat the same thing every day. -
Thank you. I think i was dehydrated the first night home because i had two separate migraines that night. Dr on call said i needed more Fluid and to add gatorade. But i am not still getting much down. Everything spasms on The way down. Not a good incentive to eat or drink. Sent from my SPH-L720 using the BariatricPal App nope, that makes it hard, but you just have to find a way. it should get better each day. try varying the temperature of the liquids. at that stage my tummy did best with room temperature liquids, but other tummys like hot or cold.

you're not doing anything wrong. they pumped you full of IV fluids and who knows what else. you've got to heal, work on the fluids, then Protein. the weight *will* come off. you really need to get up on the fluids as much as possible though or it will cause loads of problems.

What Is Your Brilliant Substitute for a Craving?

@@CelesteMarie if you think the cheese is too salty try using half and half to your egg when you scramble it. it makes divine scrambled eggs. just a dollop. -
Post Surgery Bowling
Christinamo7 replied to adrinanna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
can you believe I have NEVER been bowling? I want to. I am very competitive at wii bowling., I love it. LOVE it. I would hazard a guess that a bowling ball would weigh more than the lifting restrictions, and that the tossing the ball could be quite uncomfortable at the least, cause a hernia at the worst. -
Sugar Cravings
Christinamo7 replied to beautifully2114's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
how are you doing with the Protein and fluids? I find when I have met my protein goals I don't really crave other food, I am too stuffed. when I am just having a plain old hungry day I eat things that fill me up, like lima Beans or a refried bean dish. I do like the Vitamin Water zeros which scratch the itch for a sweet drink. -

I don't know how handy you are in the kitchen, but you will be 1000 times happier if you make your own bone broth. -

How have people responded to your weghtloss?
Christinamo7 replied to reachbree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
if I feel the situation is appropriate I tell them I had the surgery and am following the plan. if it is more a passing comment and not inviting explanation then I just say thank you, and yes I am trying to loose the weight. (that part is due to a recent cancer scare, and some acquaintances are concerned about my health and I appreciate their care) -
Week 1 post op but can stomach solids...
Christinamo7 replied to Aimee-Belle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@LipstickLady I think to the people who have only recently had surgery seeing the different plans presented helps them (it helped me) to realize that your new situation is not as fragile as it seems - and that there is a wide variety of ways to find your new normal without worrying you are going to "break your sleeve" to quote things I've seen posted on various threads. seeing so many people living at a good normal weight in so many different ways can help us to find the courage to discover what works for us as individuals. -
What will I NEVER be able to eat?
Christinamo7 replied to Mangolicious's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
at 4 weeks I was told it was safe for me to eat anything. I am, of course, low carb, high Protein, as much "real food" as possible as opposed to processed foods. I have all manner of vegetables, raw and cooked, meats, I prefer to be pretty tender and juicy. With toast (I have oat bread toast 3-4 times a week with my egg) I can not stand the crust anymore. so I just eat the middles. I have not tried alcohol yet, but per my plan it is ok - not recommended - not wise yet. I do not plan to try until the holiday time. I love wine, and whiskey - but if I find that they do not sit well with me anymore it will not be something that I worry about. I'll just use my collection for others at family meals or some friends will get some really fabulous birthday presents. I enjoy my coffee, but if I have a lot of coffee I get sour stomach. so, it's a treat a few times a week and then all is good. I was not told "no straws" and that's a good thing, because I am a clumsy clod, and so having a lid and straw is a life saver for me. I am just over 3 months out and have lost just more than 1/3 my excess weight. I also can take any medications I might need to take and I take all my recommended supplements and others that I believe to be good for general health with no problems. I can now drink my Water and liquids normally, and not have to sip. -
it's normal as the swelling goes down and things are more normal inside to notice you can eat more. I measure out my food for the day most days and eat when I feel like I need to eat. when the food is gone, I'm done so I try to pace myself. learning to eat what I need and not in some undisciplined higgly piggly manner. yeesh. it's all new habits to learn. If you are looking in the fridge because you're bored then make sure to find something to engage you that keeps your hands busy. I like to crochet and sew, but today I am sorting my mineral make up while I watch a movie. lastly, make sure you're not mistaking thirst for hunger. if it is not "time" to eat, then grab something to drink and see if that settles you down.

it's interesting how plans vary, or things change over time. At one month I was told I could eat anything, including berries. they have been one of my favorite treats. -

I tend to go with the general rule that 1. when people show you who they really are (good or bad) it's a gift. then you know what you've got. 2. believe them the first time they show you who they are/ so, if someone turns out to not be supportive - it will be good to know, even if it hurts. and hopefully they will show you who they are long before this is an issue. -

big mac salad. a little romaine lettuce chopped up, topped with my ground meat mixture that has melted shredded cheddar in it, topped with a tsp of thousand island dressing, 1 green onion chopped, 1 dill pickle slice chopped and some sesame seeds. -
I love both of these~

plans vary. if pureed foods are not appealing to you talk to your NUT about soft foods. my plan didn't have pureed stage. it was Clear liquids in hospital. full liquids for 10 days to two weeks and then soft foods. boy was I ready! but some pureed food choices are good. I made touchdown taco dip and ate it with a spoon. it's refried Beans on the bottom, and then a mixture of cream cheese and sour cream on top. the recipe is online with the spices and such. now at three months I can have it with salsa on top.

it's a wild ride, isn't it? I was angry at week 3 for no good reason, and then depressed (mildly) for over a month. last week one day I was unreasonably in a good mood. it's the hormones. but your 5 year old gets a MUCH healthier parent in 6 months from now. it's worth it. it is totally worth it, so hang in there and you will get through the rough days.

How Has WLS Changed Your Social Life?
Christinamo7 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
nah, everyone knows about my surgery that I hang out with and so on the occasion we meet for lunch or go out at night nothing's changed for me but I order differently at the places we meet. I've not found anywhere that didn't have something I can have....... except that I've not tried alcohol yet(but I generally drink at home, and not out and about) and I don't feel like baking right now so I don't have some of the treats for others that I normally have. pretty sure I will feel like baking later on. 90% of the time I'm just at home with my family so nothin's really changed there. -
Relationships or meeting someone new post op
Christinamo7 replied to Jobey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm not single but I think it depends I think a lot on what your own personal comfort level is with other people. I wouldn't want to have someone see where the scars are that I couldn't tell them about my surgery or other medical issues. although, I think once I get a little further out the scars will probably not be very noticeable. is the WLS something that you generally keep a secret from everyone else? because that is probably going to factor into your decisions here. -
that sounds fabulous! we had scrambled eggs for Breakfast this morning. for dinner we had chili cheese dogs. mine was in a bowl, half a cup of chili, 1 ounce of sharp cheddar and 2 slices of all beef hot dog with chopped onion on top. it was pretty good too.
