    Your booty!

I haven't had any complaints about my booty. squats and yoga/pilates can help, as can walking on a slight incline. If anything loosing weight and working out can equal a butt lift, making you look younger and more shapely.

    2 scrambled eggs?

eggs chew down pretty good, and I wouldn't worry about it some days I can eat 1 scrambled egg. some days I can eat 1 1/2 and some I can eat 2. it varies.

    Visualization

well at work we have this curved front pop machine, and it makes me look a lot thinner, I go and stand there sometimes but I could not imagine how much my life would change for the better long before my appearance drastically changed.
  4. the scars themselves are nothing. I have 3 marks which are about 1/4 of an inch and two that are about 1 inch. I am only 4 months out this week, so they haven't begun to fade yet, but I wouldn't even let that worry you. I have worse scars from skinning my knee as a child.

    Non carbonated drinks?

you do realize that alcohol is straight up carbs, right? and not complex ones. while I do plan to have wine and whiskey on occasion - *IF* my body tolerates it - no way am I going to do so until months and months later. and transfer addiction is a real thing. but, what does your program say about alcohol? some allow it some don't but I've never seen a plan allow for it that soon. what can you drink that is non alcoholic but would fit with your plan and not make you feel like you are standing out in the crowd? might be a better game plan.
  6. Val, not having to care where I park (unless it is raining) was one of my first NSV's too! wonderful feeling.

    Any married sleevers?

I have not - but there is a couple in my face to face support group here who did theirs at the same time and they are doing very well. I think they found it helpful to go through the process and changes together.

    What's your favorite broth?

crock pot, yes. it's the easiest and best way. I promise you will be a lot happier with broth you make and freeze than anything you could buy.

    New to group

Welcome! I look forward to seeing your progress. I was excited and nervous too before my surgery, but like most people - it's one of the very best decisions I have ever made. I am happy with the results.
  12. I felt the same way! do you have a 1 week check up scheduled? at my 1 week follow up I discussed this with the NP and I was given permission to try certain soft foods a little earlier than 2 weeks. it was important to me to make sure I was healed enough and to discuss it with them first as I did not want any complications.

Why do some folks try to ruin this forum?

yup ^^^ this. I look forward to his posts, he is very a very helpful member here.
  14. @@Jess3/25/16 - I am normally a very positive, optimistic person. In the 6 weeks after surgery I was ANGRY and mildly depressed - not to the point of needing medication, but realizing that this subdued person was not my normal. I was loosing weight at a faster pace, and so probably had a higher hormone dump at that time. (seriously angry) I walk. every day. a lot. in the sunshine. Because you get an emotional boost from working out it was enough to push me back into feeling like I could function with my family and work life. Walking and sunshine are great ways to help you get through the challenges. I also take 15 minutes at lunch to put on quiet music, dim the lights and practice deep breathing. once my weight loss slowed down a bit (still steady but slower) the emotions balanced out although I do have these random "annoying good mood days" every now and then. this WLS is a wild ride, but if your hormones are affecting you to the point that you feel you can not function as a reasonably sane adult, then please seek help and don't be satisfied with the answers until you feel better.
  15. I hear ya! it's life changing! I was on a hike yesterday and I *ran* up several flights of stairs. me. ran. *up* stairs. for the fun of it. crazy. I am looking forward to hearing your progress and more life changing NSV's!
  16. yesterday I drove up to Indianapolis to meet my mom and sister. Miss Margaret, my baby is spending the summer with them in Michigan. We went on a 4.5 mile hike, in the heat no less (thankful for SHADE) and at one point there were several flights of stairs leading to an observation deck. I had been hanging back walking with Mama, but decided to sprint up to my sister, start playing "the eye of the tiger" and run past her all the way up the flights of stairs. I didn't even need to think about would I be tired, or could I do it. I just did. She rose to the challenge and we had a fun "race" to the top. I am so thankful for my WLS and the improved health it has brought.

    Been Givin the run around

I don't understand why you feel you've been given the run around - are the tests just the normal bloodwork or do they suspect a medical problem that makes you not a good candidate for surgery? I had to wait a year while they investigated an ongoing WBC, but until they felt like it was medically safe I just had to be patient.

How do you beat the heat?

if I go hiking in the summer it is either early in the day or else I go someplace with Water falls, where you hike down into a ravine, where it is cooler, and hopefully some wading is allowed. we do most of our hiking in the spring and autumn.

How do I tell my surgeon he screwed up?

The whole point of surgery IS so that you will be satisfied with just one egg Then why do they put TWELVE in the carton!?!?!??!! So you can be satisfied 12 times but you have to wait 3 hours in between?

    Not Giving Up, But Wow

    Will I still be fun?

I did not feel much like cooking the first two weeks. I had cooked and froze some meals ahead of time to cover that immediate post op period. once I got on soft foods it has not bothered me to cook for my husband or my family - so I think it's probably pretty safe to say you will be back to that sooner rather than later. I don't have much interest in baking yet at 4 months, I love to bake, and I reckon my interest will come back further down the road, but he's been ok with holding off on that. Actually what go me to 220 is compulsive eating from stress and then being uhappy with myself....such a vicious cycle I have made for myself. I like thinking of other ways to have more fun together I am a stress cleaner, so I can highly recommend that as an alternative.

    Will I still be fun?

well. I am a hormonal roller coaster in the past early months, so not sure how much *fun* that was for the man, but he's used to me anyway. maybe it was fun sometimes. our relationship has not really changed but some things are easier, and more fun being together as I get increasingly healthier. (the sex is a lot more fun as the weight comes off) he may just have a designated driver - but if you two endeavor to work together you can adapt and change so that your marriage is better than it was before. I find 9/10ths of a happy marriage is being flexible, extending grace and forgiving each other.

How do you beat the heat?

well/ to be honest, I stay indoors in July and August unless I go north and hit the beach! not a hot weather fan here. I'm counting down to football season
