  1. those feelings are completely normal! but you know what? I did not feel like a failure when I had a hysterectomy to deal with those issues in my body and I am not going to feel like a failure to have my stomach changed to deal with obesity.

I am sad today. Disappointing realization.

it is hard to come up against these setbacks. I hope you can use the time to prepare for your new life.

    Favorite Protein Shakes

when I have one it's usually unjury chocolate splendor. sometimes with Peanut Butter powder added or sometimes with half a banana. made with fairlife milk. although in the fall I am going to play around with a vanilla one and add pumpkin and spice to it.

    what to tell the surgeon?

well, the pain in your body is going to be considered as a medical issue, and the snoring might be also. However, I think for most insurance companies your BMI should get you approved even without them. Let us know what you learn at the consult! at my consult we sat down with the insurance referral person and they told us what our requirements would be.

Does everyone but me have a nutritionist?

don't worry. I do have one, and I do talk to her about any deviations from my program, but she just reads back protocol to me. she's not very helpful. my doctor or NP are the ones who give me custom advice to my personal plan and make sure that my progress is where it should be.

    Ways to celebrate weight loss?

I bought a fabulous new purse when I dropped below 200 pounds.

    Grieve loss of stomach

I think your feelings are normal. especially pre surgery. once you get through the first month and there are so many positives, I think you'll be all about your new stomach.
  9. I take 3 salmon oil a day to treat bad ADHD. I would recommend speaking to your doctor - but if you do a trial off the prescription maybe take the fish oil to see if it could help you with the ADHD. I don't suffer from my ADHD, but my family does, lol. my life is much more manageable when I treat it.
  10. hey that's a nice NSV! you're doing really well.

    1200 calorie pre-op diet

that may be all they require from you except the night before surgery. I did not have a two week liquid diet before surgery. are you getting excited as the date gets closer?
  12. it's a wonderful feeling to fit into those clothes that were relegated to the back of the closet!

    Belly pain

did they give you a binder to wear when you were in the hospital? I wonder if it would help to wear that for a while.
  14. I promise we are trying to help you sort it all out. If I were in your shoes I'd go for it and give it all I have to try to be successful. perhaps getting weight off might help your issues, as we know that fat is hormonaly active in the body. with thyroid issues your progress may well be hindered, but what else can you do? right? I figure I will loose what I can, and keep it off as long as I can, there is always the chance that I will loose all the excess and keep it off - but if it buys me even 10 more years to watch grandchildren grow then it will be worth it all.

    Options for my smoker?

I eat bacon and cream cheese- and I think as far as things like the brown sugar (we do a ham glaze that uses it) I think you have to consider how much sugar is actually going to amount to per serving. because your servings will be quite small - so I doubt it's much of an issue really.
  16. yes, @@LipstickLady I have experienced that same horror at realizing *just* how much food I really need compared to what I was eating before surgery. quite an eye opener. but I am not sure I would have believed it when I was pre-op even if I could go back and tell myself the truth.
  17. I think you'll find that once you get to dense Proteins and some veg or fruit that there just isn't room or appetite for chips, Pasta and pizza. at least in the early days. I'm only 4 months out so I can't say beyond that.
  18. you're probably not doing anything wrong - it's common. just keep following the program and your body will sort it's self out as it heals. how much are you able to eat/drink? how much Protein can you handle per day?
  19. what are the "wrong foods" you prefer? if it is sugar then I think the RNY may have an edge - but the truth is I don't really crave carbs right now and I had the sleeve. now my understanding is that that will come back, so it is important to use the time after surgery to establish better habits.

    Shots & alcohol

    Finding a balance

I believe there are some people here who do not eat meat - and I hope you can find the support you need. under the general support section, food and nutrition there is a forum for vegan and vegetarian - perhaps you might find something helpful there.

    Refried beans

I have a food scale. you put your dish on it and hit tare so it won't count the dish, and then add the food. I don't really get full. I just eat what I am supposed to and I don't feel hungry so I stop. earlier when I could only eat a few spoonfulls I just got to a point where I didn't want any more. sometimes my nose would drip.
