Workout routine update - vanity or helpful?
Christinamo7 replied to BigViffer's topic in The Guys’ Room
no rushing, @@Dub too easy to hurt yourself that way! -
I know how it feels - but cutting back that low, depending on what your caloric needs are could actually cause you to stall out more. So please, do the tracking thing for exercise and food and make sure your calorie deficit is appropriate.

oh ya. my pattern has been to loose 3-5 pounds and then go up 1 or 2 pounds and then down again. but the overall trend from month to month is downward. it is a lot easier for me to be patient with it once I got below 200 before that I thought, well there you go, I'm the exception. I do think slow and steady is the way to loose. when I get concerned I track my food a few days to make sure my diet is spot on, and if it is I just trust my body to do what it is supposed to do.

Workout routine update - vanity or helpful?
Christinamo7 replied to BigViffer's topic in The Guys’ Room
yes please do so. proper form makes all the difference in the work out - helps avoid injury and makes it effective to the place on the body you are trying to work. years ago I did go to the gym and lift weights and thankfully my husband was able to come with me and help me learn the proper way. While I mostly prefer other work outs now - it was invaluable at the time. if you are not able to go with her, then please take pictures and why not share them with us as well?!?!? All the posts about it make me kinda wanna get back in the gym so I take it as greatly encouraging. I have another friend, who lives in my town, and he used to post his running on facebook. he felt a little silly about it, but you know what? it got me off the couch and walking. I told him so and then others piped in to agree. you never know what is going to make a difference for someone else. -
I use map my walk to enter my food and exercise in, a lot of people use my fitness pal. I also have a food scale and even cooking at home you can measure portions and figure out if you are meeting Protein goals and keeping carbs down. I try to keep my carbs down below 60 most days (90% of the time) and always below 100. by entering your weight/height and such information it will come up with your base amount of calories. then when you plug in the food you're eating you will know if what your calorie deficit is. but yes, eating salty foods could be just causing you to retain Water, as does certain times of the month.

Tomorrow is my day
Christinamo7 replied to albare1978's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a bundle of nerves and didn't sleep much the night before surgery. I am a stress cleaner though, so the bathroom was nice and tidy for my return home. Wishing you all the best and I look forward to hearing from y'all when you're on the other side of it. -
Which Body Part Do You Love the Most?
Christinamo7 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
my eyes but since WLS I would have to say the whole package. EVERYTHING is easier. my body feels better, it moves better and according to the people I love, even looks better. I'm quite happy to have a waist and a neck again. -

Changes in Shoe Sizes?
Christinamo7 replied to IAwoman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
it is *very* common. feet can store fat just like the rest of our body. I no longer need a wide width, and am encouraged by my new feet. since I can't afford to replace *all* my shoes at once I have to wear thicker socks with a lot of them now, and am slowly replacing with not wide shoes. let us know how this works out for you! I love having pretty shoes! -
Grateful every day

ah! I am so glad for this update! makes my heart happy. I am also hoping to be remembered as an active, healthy grandmother. my only grandbaby is just 1 - so if I can stick with my program this will be their reality. -
Stretched sleeve?
Christinamo7 replied to ashleypriv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know why but my weight loss stopped at about 202-201. it was so maddening! why not stop just below 200? right? it was messing with my mind a lot. but I just kept doing what I knew to do and in about 2 weeks it moved again. I don't think you've stretched anything out - but more likely your internal swelling is going down and it is a sign that you are healing up - and your body may be focused on that. So, here is what I do when my body hits pause. I use map my walk to track my work outs (there are other programs out there too) and so for a few days I will measure/weigh my food and track it. once I am assured that I am not eating too many calories then I relax and let my body do it's thing. but I will admit it is a lot easier to be patient on the bottom side of 200 than the top side of it. -
somewhere around 15 pounds for me. I am looking forward to seeing your progress.

I was in just one night, and plenty ready to go home the next day. I had the sleeve.

When you can take pills again?
Christinamo7 replied to specialkiddomom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the only thing I was having to take as a chewable was my multi. I had chewable Calcium because I thought I would have to - so I used it anyway - but everything else I was able to take right away. I don't know what the rule was on the multi because I had 90 of those things, they were high dollar so I used them all up before I went back on my regular multi. -
it's something isn't it? I did yoga a good 2 years before I attempted any poses in public! I've not taken a class but there is a park that I like to go to where there is an observation deck overlooking the biggest waterfall in the state. if I can manage a few times a year to go there on a week day I usually have that deck all to myself, and it is a lovely place to do some yoga. I found my wii to be very helpful as the figure of me on the TV has a line that tells me if my posture is correct. that was a game changer. and I love the Peggy Cappy videos but now I just have a routine of poses that work for me. keep at it! it's so good for your core and hips.

How to help spouse accept surgery
Christinamo7 replied to rdharri's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
how long have the two of y'all been together? Hopefully he is just nervous about the surgery it's self and the changes that will be occurring in your life. I sure hope that things will calm down and he will be able to talk to you about his specific concerns. -
Does everyone get the shoulder gas pains?
Christinamo7 replied to Lovin2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't really have noticeable gas pain. I was up and walking in my hospital room as soon as I was able. -
sometimes I use espresso powder, sometimes I use pb powder, and sometimes half a banana in a chocolate shake made with fairlife milk.

How much loss during your first month?
Christinamo7 replied to Wendydarling19's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am not really sure. 12-15 pounds I think. it is going to vary depending on how much weight you have to loose overall. my plan was Clear liquids in the hospital. full liquids for two weeks, soft foods week 3 and 4 and then regular foods after 4 weeks. I am now 4 months out and with two more pounds will be down 40% of my excess weight. not too shabby!
