  1. At 6 weeks out - I'd be careful with having steak and bacon. I was cleared for all foods at 4 weeks - and then tip toed into trying different things. Was a relief that steak didn't upset my tummy at about the six week mark - but we are all different and the healing process varies.
  2. I really can't understand all the drama. this is an internet forum - and the ignore function works just fine if someone in particular annoys you or you them...........

  3. I understand your frustration then! I have been a slowish looser too - but I do believe at the end of the day slow and steady wins the race. We'll just keep doing what we are supposed to do! looks like you are doing everything just as you should be.
  4. I did not go to Mexico but I had the short term disability with the same company. I had to use two weeks of PTO also and then it kicked in. I ended up going back early after my WLS but after my hysterectomy 11 months ago it did go into the STD, and they were great through the whole process, and my surgery was done rather urgently. I hope your experience is just as smooth.

    Good morning, Squad:

    • What are challenges you're working through right now? working my way through grieving the sudden loss of my Daddy. it's a rough process and takes a lot of energy, time and self attention. and some medical stuff not related to WLS. • Areas of improvement? I've just gone off my BP medications, which feels like a miracle to me. now off all prescriptions. • How about wins? last week I went home on vacation. I could walk and swim until everyone else gave out. I could run in knee deep Water - and on the wet sand. it was bliss. There's nothing like a Northern Michigan beach vacation in July or August. I am healed enough that I could eat small bites of anything I wanted - but never felt like I needed to eat more than I should. example: my Aunt Maryann made a cheesecake. I had two forkfuls. totally satisfied. it was incredibly good. Back to real life tomorrow.
  6. when you are a lower BMI, you will loose more slowly. I would be tracking intake and exercise for a few days and speak to your team to ask them what is a good calorie deficit for you. I do not know from your activities if you would be helped with more or less food. some of your hunger feelings say yes you may need more food, or perhaps smaller amounts more often? and some make me think maybe a PPI. so that is certainly something your medical team can help sort out. that being said, a stall where you are is perfectly normal, and your body is busy with the weight loss process even when the scale doesn't move. the times I can visibly see a difference in the mirror are during stalls.

    "She's blushing!"

I had an easier path in that a coworker had the same surgery a year and a few months before me. so I just said I will be out a few weeks having the same procedure that D___ had. my face always gives me away, I am not capable of anything but straight talk. people are curious about the process and hoping for my success.

    Bodybounce Stability Ball DVD

not that, particularly but for many years I have used a stability ball off and on - I enjoy it for a work out.

    Significant others and family

I will add to what others say in that in the first month or two after surgery I was unreasonably angry at typical every day situations. Knowing that allowed me to not act on those emotions. they are real feelings though, and very powerful. it doesn't bother me any more what others are eating - so trust that it does get better.
  10. this WLS thing is a wild crazy ride!

I could do so many things on vacation this year - with pre op and post op weight loss I am down more than 70 pounds. I could walk any beach, run in wet sand, run in knee deep water - chase the dogs..... anything I wanted to do.

    Can't stop "sliming "

I would put a call in - and practice some deep breaths. by that point I was cleared to all foods but you could have an irritated stomach or something and the doctors should be able to identify what's going on and help you. I only had the slimey's once, and I was trying to force myself to eat a normal post sleeve meal right before I went back to work after my bereavement leave was ending (4+ months of no problems before) - there was no doubt in my mind what the slimeys were. YUK. haven't had them since thankfully, but I was under an enormous amount of stress at the time and should have just gone for continuing to eat less for awhile. which is where I am now - still not back to normal but I just eat 4 very small meals with 2 Snacks instead of 3 normal post WLS meals with 2 snacks. so at the end of the day my protein/calories are in the right place

What I wish I had known...

wow! your experience seems a bit more rough than mine........ I am also so thankful for the sleeve.

    NSAIDs or no NSAIDs?

the bariatric program I use says NO NSAIDS forever, for both sleeve and bypass. but my surgeon told me explicitly that they are fine for me. I also have other health care conditions to manage, and the longer I can get by with occasional Advil, the longer I can avoid stronger harsher medications.

    Sex?

the instructions I was given regarding this topic was that my body would let me know what I was ready for and when. so. if you miss the closeness you can just get creative about what is pleasurable and what is not yet.

    Does anyone regret their surgery?

[ As you and I don't agree, perhaps you should simply contact me privately in future. The OP asked "Does anyone regret their surgery". I do. And I will continue to support my position. I am only urging people to make sure that they are giving informed consent. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App No no no please! When your comments are made on a public forum it is helpful to see another view on the public forum. Other people will evaluate both and come to their own opinions. You say she is biased for working for NHS well shoot. We are all biased! You are due to your complications which do seem to me to be rare considering all I have read and seen and I am biased by not having any complications - we're all biased and trying to sort things out for ourselves. . 21. I went off diabetes meds three days after surgery and never looked back. Normal A 1c now. Happy happy happy. I am on 1/4 of the blood pressure meds now and I only take that about twice a week rather than daily. Weaning off. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Having second thoughts about waiting

Fmla I would think has nothing to do with leave- but short term disability usually does. I know for myself there were issues that on the one hand made sense to hold off but the truth is I needed to have my surgery as soon as possible.
