  2. yes. exactly. I was cleared at my one month check up, and was ready to get back to my yoga/pilates. but your surgery and surgeon may advise otherwise.

***Internet 101*** just because that is your objective does not mean that it is the reader's objective in their replies. they are allowed to have their OWN objectives just like you are allowed to have yours. their reply comes from THEIR perspective and really does not have to fit in to your agenda. your agenda does not have to fit in to their agenda either. there is room for everyone here. there is no rule that someone has to agree with you to comment on a thread you start. this is a public forum. Most people have tried to be very nice to you in your difficulties. just because they disagree or question some statements does not mean they are bullying you. if you feel someone is bullying you the best thing to do is put them on ignore. you won't see their posts and it becomes a nicer experience for you. just because you start a thread does not make it yours. it belongs to a public forum. it can veer off topic or take any kinds of left turns much like conversations in person can do.

    Change to Social Life

not for me, but I never was big on cocktail parties. I am FAR MORE likely to go out after work to a hockey game, or football or something like hiking - canoeing - than I was before, so even though I tend to be a homebody, I suppose I am out and about with my friends more now than before. as for eating out, I have yet to find a place that doesn't have some kind of acceptable option for me, so there is always something I can have, and it takes me as long to eat my little bit as it does someone else to eat their larger portion.

WLS and Labs....(not the four-legged kind.)

yup the practice where I had my surgery also has follow up and labs at 3,6 9 months and at one year, and yearly after that. it's good to keep an eye on things!

well he has definately moved on

I hope getting it off your chest will help you to move forward. It took a long time for me to work through my first husband leaving me. We had 5 kids under the age of 8 - and there was no infidelity on either side - I felt so betrayed. After a time I can honestly say I hope is now wife is the love of his life as my husband is mine..... but it took quite a while for me to get to that point. wishing you all the best in your new life........
  7. often on the weekends I put a bunch in the crock pot and then divide it into servings for the week. Each day I can add spices or different cheese depending on what kind of food I want to eat (like italian one day, mexican another day, greek.... etc) or other times I marinate in lime olive oil and cilantro and grill. that's pretty good right there.

    Exercise Question

I mean that I try to keep my calorie deficit at about 800 calories a day. if I am trending less active I eat less, if I am trending more active I add a Protein based snack. so you will need to track both intake and exercise to see how many calories you should have before adding more activity. And ask your NUT if you feel like you can do more and loose weight. I don't know that the "sweet spot" is the same for everyone.

    Exercise Question

I think your calories need to increase before you add too much cardio, but some ab tightening shouldn't burn too many calories. I like to do yoga or pilates for core strength. I like to keep my calorie deficit not more than 800 calories or so. seems to be the sweet spot for me, although stalls still happen. Your body has a lot to do in the weight loss process and not all of it shows on the scale.

    Exercise Question

I was cleared for whatever exercise I wanted at 4 weeks - and my doctor was very specific about it. If you were also cleared you will be fine, just ease into more strenuous workouts. :-) the main thing is you do not want to create too large of a calorie deficit as it will slow down your weight loss - so track your workout and intake.

That's fine and thank you, but saying things like " even if I don't wish the best for myself" is really unhelpful. Your words about me being "miserable", "pessimistic", etc were not opinions about my disliking my new stomach, those were assumptions about my frame of mind. I just don't like it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App you might not like it, but I am sorry to say you do come across as miserable and pessamistic - which can be self fulfilling - so it is good that you correct that assumption so that current and future readers will better understand.
  12. of all the surgeries I've had in the past (episiotomy, c section, tubal ligation, broken leg, hardware removed from leg, hysterectomy) this was the second easiest. I had a pretty unremarkable surgery and recovery. sore throat for a couple of days, some fatigue. I did have a nerve block before surgery in my abdomen and I think that made a tremendous difference. My swelling in my stomach went down quickly and so I never had much trouble with drinking enough or getting Protein. at almost 6 months if you were hanging around me you'd probably not know I've had surgery - because there's enough healthy choices on my plate that you might just think I am a lean eater.

    TMI POST- Constipation

it is also helpful to have a stool to put your feet up on. helps you get into a better posture for it to pass. I really struggled with constipation/impaction the first 4 months. now that my diet is more varied I only need a stool softener and benefiber to keep things normal. I hope things normalize for you as well.

    Pissing off my boss

are you in the USA? apply for FMLA. mine covered continuous for 4 weeks after surgery and intermittent for a year so they can not tell me I can't go to my follow up appointments.

    Drinking coffee

I was willing to give up coffee to be healthy if needed, but was glad to find out that I was allowed to have it. I enjoy it most days when I go to work. such a simple pleasure! Tea I normally have on Sunday evening.

How am I doing? (and confession)

I think your weight loss pace is on track - stalls are normal. Life is challenging. When my dad died in June I was NOT going to add to my mom's stress by needing certain foods. I decided whatever was brought to us I would try to make the best of it. and I learned that I will be ok if I am not picture perfect in my food choices all the time. once I got home and back to work I went back to the comforts of my normal post surgery food routine and choices and I did the same when I went back home on vacation at the end of July. The reason I choose the sleeve was the flexibility. Once fully physically healed, life continues - my point is at some time you are going to be at someone's wedding, birthday party, whatever and you will want to Celebrate with everyone else. Keep your diet where it should be the rest of the time, enjoy the event and move on with your life. Don't let food have the power to make you feel guilt. When I was home the last time one night I had half a waffle with maple syrup and fresh picked wild raspberries. my Mama had picked them because I love them. NO way was I going to hurt her feelings by not having some. the JOY of the sleeve for me (I used to be diabetic) is that after I ate that I took my blood sugar- completely normal. do I eat things like that on a daily basis? NO WAY.

My story of screwing up. Support? Ideas?

I think by getting some help and refocusing on your health you are on the right track to get back on track. I lost my beloved father just over a month ago, and it has sure knocked me down. I understand how the shock and grieving can affect you in this process. I am just now beginning to come out of my grief induced fog - and just for snatches of time. I think you go back to basics. walk or do some other exercise as often as you can. ramp it up a little at a time. Hydrate and make sure you are getting your Water and supplements - and focus on lean Protein first. Find other ways to self soothe - music, epsom salts baths, mani/pedi. I am a stress cleaner so I tend to take out my frustrations on the bathroom or kitchen. I don't think you can really stretch out your sleeve - a pouch yes - but not the sleeve - so it is right there waiting for you. You can learn to eat around it, which you may have. if so - you will have to learn how to eat by the rules again. but you can do it!
  19. I actually meant that there are others (not vets) who spark issues and disappear. :-) Those of us who value having a place to discuss these issues have to learn to stay away from those types of inflammatory posts. it can be hard to spot them because we do want to help anyone we can along this journey.

    3 meals a day only?

I have 3 meals and two Snacks. usually I measure out my food for the day and off it goes with me in my little lunch box. I eat when I feel like eating and by the the end of the day I've got my liquids and Protein in. Weekends are a bit more tricky but that's 5 days out of 7 all wrapped up. I think it's more important to meet your goals for fluids, protein and calorie limits than the particular configuration of how you get it in.

    Ugh---sleeved 8/1

this will pass - some of us didn't have the runs at all, in fact we had the opposite problem. stick to your program, your stomach is healing inside. it has a long wound running down it. Please don't go off your program and risk complications. It does get easier/better. hang in there.

    Can I take tylenol pm?

I was told any pills smaller than half an inch were fine. You shouldn't have a problem, but it would be a good idea to call your nurse line to make sure.

    Salad....ever again? If so when?

I was allowed them at one month. I often use lettuce or spinach to wrap my wee burger, or chicken, or lunch meat. I sometimes make a proper salad with nuts, cheese, leftover meat. wee little touch of dressing. no problems with it whatsoever.
