Getting over the guilt
Christinamo7 replied to KaiserKid's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have never felt any kind of guilt or shame over my body. I don't know why - although I have always had people I love around who think I am the cat's meow. that can't hurt. my husband has always acted like he won some kind of crazy good prize talking me into getting married again - no matter what my weight changed during our marriage. (it went up and down and up to a total of about 90 pounds heavier than when we married) I did not have a problem with my weight until I was in my 30s and went to a sedentary job (was a stay home mom before with 7 little kidlets, so pretty busy and active) when people make those kinds of comments I always point them to the statistics that almost everyone, if they are able to loose, regain and more. and that yes, I could choose to try that again, (after trying that for more than 10 years) but I am choosing to try something different this time. -
Increased water intake = retaining water and gain?
Christinamo7 replied to Jewelgirl04's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
my body has a propensity to hold Water that quite frankly astounds me. I was on Hctz for years before I developed high bp for edema, that they have never found a reason for. my doctor has me trying to go off it now, and man can my weight fluctuate! but that being said, keep your eye on the prize. the goal is fat lost. so I have to learn to ignore those up and downs that I know based on other body symptoms are water, and stay focused on habits that move my fat loss in the right direction. and keep an eye on those symptoms to know if I need to go back on the diuretic. -
That's so awesome that your church uses unleavened bread! I have not heard of churches doing that before but it makes sense. I wonder why more churches don't do that? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App probably because you can't just store it and pull a package out. someone has to bake it every week.

Want to stick with current eating plan, getting new foods is scary
Christinamo7 replied to happy2bjcox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was afraid to move forward but I have a team that really stresses getting back on whole foods and eating healthy foods. it is a struggle since we obviously do not have a healthy relationship with food, or we would not need surgery. So, while I agree with the above responses (if you are meeting needs and loosing weight no reason to rush yourself) it ia also good to go over this with the practice you use because I know my team would be very displeased with me if I had not moved forward, and I have to admit as I am almost 6 months out, they seem to know what they are doing. Each practice has a little different philosophy on these issues. -
Finally weigh less than my sons
Christinamo7 replied to pswebb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
congrats! that is a major accomplishment! one of my very first goals was to weigh less than my husband. I probably weigh less than 2 of my adult sons, but maybe not the other two. my waist is 1.5 inches larger than my husband's still. because even though I weigh less, he has me beat on height so I am still a little wider. that is my next goal. -
my doctor said it was fine for me, and we use unleavened bread, not a wafer. it is a small amount. I did keep a bottle of Water with me (well. I always do) in case my tummy wasn't happy, but it's never been a problem.

good, if you are worried call tomorrow morning, but otherwise make sure they look at them Monday - and let us know how you are doing!

Is it possible to have too much water?
Christinamo7 replied to CLN.BK's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
do you feel "puffy" or are you sweating? I hope it doesn't catch up with you in the middle of the night! -

liquids go right through. there is such a thing as Water intoxication but I think you are probably not anywhere near having that sort of problem. -
Curious questions...
Christinamo7 replied to MickiinFL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe the trick is to use that time after surgery to learn how to have a healthy relationship with food. not avoiding healthy food nor being obsessed by food. if you are successful in doing that you will loose weight and keep it off. -
it sounds normal to me - when do you go in for your first follow up?

Children share in parents weight loss?
Christinamo7 replied to Kelleylu's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
none of my children are overweight at all. I still have 3 of 7 at home - but I will say they are eating healthier foods. A lot more Protein, which is good. I don't think my two youngest teenage girls were getting enough protein before. so I know it will improve your son's choices and his future. -
What's your favorite water bottle?
Christinamo7 replied to BarefootDrummer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I start off with a RISE Vitamin Water zero and refill it from our work water dispenser (really good filtered water) and it is easy for me to keep track, and chuck it at the end of the day. -
How long do protein drinks you mixed stay good?
Christinamo7 replied to magoosmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
what does the label say? this may be brand specific as has been recently discussed in another thread. my brand, unjury does not say it has to be consumed immediately. -

Pouch Reset - anyone try it?
Christinamo7 replied to flipper72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
not specifically - although when I had to go on Clear liquids in preparation for my colonoscopy I know that I was far more aware of my restriction afterwards. -
I am thankful I did not have to do that pre or post op! yikes!

A little lost... help?
Christinamo7 replied to GACaldwell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
first I want you to know that your feelings are completely normal. I felt the same way at your point in recovery! it's a wild ride, but just keep following your program and you will find a year from now you are somewhere physically that you can hardly dare hope for even now. all the plans differ @@KristenLe I never had a puree stage. I was on a wide variety of soft foods at that point and could have things like canned carrots or green Beans if I had my Protein first. -
My ex-lover has an issue with me getting sleeved
Christinamo7 replied to VSGMEPLZ26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BAH. he's an ex for a reason. I have no idea what my ex thinks or will say - but I am sure the kids have told him. I'm sure he's seen pictures of me with the kids. It's hard when people have their opinions about your journey - but you will find your own way. -
Desperately seeking advice - please offer yours!
Christinamo7 replied to mommafranz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
nothing ventured, nothing gained. in otherwords, wouldn't you rather go for it and risk it not going forward than to not try and always wonder if it would have made a difference for you? most everyone is nervous and a little scared right before the surgery - so that is normal. but from my point of view on the other side of it, it is worth every bit of what I went through. -
Went to pre-op this morning - Took a lot of mystery out of what I'll be facing...
Christinamo7 replied to GeekyChicLa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
usually when they want nothing by mouth they will still allow you a glycerin swab for swishing around your mouth. make sure you ask for them. -
you are the best @@Dub you make me laugh so often. I love people who make me laugh.

I can get you a recipe to make some?

I am sorry you had this experience. almost everyone has a difficult time getting my blood - IV's are worse. I am the patient even the Red Cross told - look we appreciate your willingness to donate, but it takes so long to get you hooked up we loose out on several other donors. boo.
