    Weigh in

what a very exciting day!!! and you're just getting started!
  2. some time ago I had posted an NSV where a ring my husband gave me on our 10th anniversary finally fit again. Now I can wear it on the right hand. it is a thick ring (a picture in my gallery I think). 6 months ago I couldn't wear it at all. I am so pleased.

I'm glad for you. Just for giggles after reading your post, I put on my old wedding band, and it fell off without a push. Which was cool for two reasons. ;-)

    Harder than I thought

it does get easier. at 6 months tomorrow I do enjoy my food, I have a wide variety of foods/flavors to choose from and physically I feel good. Hang in there. the Protein will help you heal, and it will help you feel better. it is hard loosing your mom. I am sorry. my Dad died unexpectedly less than 2 months ago. everything in my life is different now, I feel lost and abandoned, which is kind of ridiculous at my age (47, mom of 7 and grandma too) - but it is how I feel, so there it is. You are more than welcome to talk to us about any of this.

    HELP! I'M SUPER NERVOUS

stalls are different every single time as your body is doing things inside that are not so apparent at the time. my first stall was a week - 10 days or so. the most recent one was almost 2 months. now the scale is slowly moving again. just trust that your body will loose weight if you are following your program, and when you stall check to make sure you haven't been letting food or inactivity sneak in.
  5. the scale moving can vary widely. how efficiently does your body get rid of the IV fluids - how quickly does inflammation go down and stomach swelling go down. other comorbidities can slow down or speed up early weight loss. but we were all anxious for that scale to move, since being overweight was what got us to the table in the first place. Hang in there, follow your program and your body will surprise you with the changes both to the scale and not on the scale.

  7. each practice has a different plan. I was only on Clear liquids in the hospital and there wasn't any protein. when I got home it was full liquids and there were protein options.

    Eating too much? Metformin?

rather than pick or choose who to listen to, I'd ask endo to speak to your bariatric team to come up with a single plan for you to follow. Endo may have reasons the bariatric team are not aware of and I would want to make double sure it was ok before stopping ANY prescription medication. My PCP and bariatric team were in agreement about me going of Metformin 3 days before surgery and that is one of the best things that happened for me because I did not like the side effects of that medication! I was on soft foods at that time, but I was allowed chicken because I don't eat fish. - I was more numb inside my stomach early on and needed to weigh my portions because I didn't get the normal full feeling until it was a couple of bites too many. as time went on the sensations return to your stomach and it will be easier to tell if you are having enough vs. too much.

    30/30/30 rule

@@ShelterDog64 it also assumes they know or have control over when they are going to eat. on some of my work days I do not know when I will have break for a snack or when I have lunch - and on days like today (still at work) when I will eat dinner. so, I drink up to when I am warming up my meal, and then not for half an hour after I eat.

    Struggle Eating

there were times in early days when I would take a bite and literally walk AWAY from the table and come back for another small bite. other times I would slowly eat half my portion and then hand the plate to my husband to put out of my reach for 5 minutes or so before I had any more. Use a small spoon and try these tricks if needed - before you know it your swelling will go down and the pain will go away, hopefully new habits will be formed also.
  11. my plan allows oatmeal which I do not like, but the NUT suggested adding unflavored Protein powder to it and if you use any flavorings they have to be sugar free.

    On the run

you could take a little lunch box with a cold pack and roll up cheese and lunch meat. like a wrap but without the bread part. you can wrap it in leaf lettuce if you tolerate that well. or wrap the lunch meat around a cheese stick. sometimes I wrap the cheese and lunch meat around steamed asparagus.

    Would you do it again?

@@char3672 straight up truth is I reckon I've already GOT the extra skin, it's just plumped out by fat. I'd rather it be empty. then I'll get rid of it if I need to.

    HELP! I'M SUPER NERVOUS

most of us seem to go through that same thing - you are normal, and your surgery will work if you follow the program. right now your body is healing from surgery. which means sometimes during this period you may hold more Water in your system, and at other times you may let that water go. you also may or may not be dealing with constipation which will affect the scale. the goal is not necessarily "weight" lost, but more specifically FAT loss, and that takes a little time. so hang in there and keep doing what you're supposed to do.

    Protein shakes & fluids

the rule at the clinic I use is to wait a half an hour after the Protein shakes as well. not really sure *why* though. I am sure it varies by practice.

    Am I a Slow loser ?

we're right about at the same place. I am six months out this week. :-) and my calories are about the same. I don't know what your starting weight is, but I think you are right on track. (where my ticker says 66 pounds loss that includes my pre-op weight loss too. I was 238 at my surgery). don't beat yourself up about the ice cream, we're far enough out that you aren't going to hurt yourself with this food choice. just choose to not make it a habit and you'll be fine.

    Making Excuses

what would I do? well....... I am just up front with everyone about it. but that's me. you can just say "no thank you" to anyone who asks you out to dinner. you know - without any explanation at all? or suggest an alternative date that does not involve food for now. in a few weeks you will be able to go to just about any kind of place to eat and find something small on the menu that is acceptable, just be prepared to take food home and be prepared to answer a question about your amounts (I just can't seem to eat a whole lot at a time, but the food was great, and I am looking forward to having the rest another time)
  21. Christinamo7

    Would you do it again?

yes, I for sure would! no longer dealing with diabetes or high blood sugar. down about half my extra weight. blood pressure normal with no meds. I've only thrown up once, and I am not sure that situation had anything to do with my sleeve (there was other stuff going on in my life at that time) I went back to work half days at one week and full days after one month. I've had zero complications and can eat pretty much anything I want in a small amount.
  22. I was allowed to just swallow them with Water. they are not very big.

    I'm really constipated

good, that should get things moving along well. I struggled with constipation for several months after surgery but as my dietary choices became more varied all I need now is a stool softener and benefiber.
  24. Christinamo7

    I'm really constipated

well possibly - but that is irrelevant since you need to get the constipation resolved in any case! what are you taking for the constipation?
