The store on here
determinedtolive replied to future Mrs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've purchased the Vitamin Patches. Shipping within a couple of days and I received the product about 5 business days from that. With my first order I did purchase the whey Supplement that have 42g of Protein. I couldn't finish one tube. Bleck! The vitamin patches work as confirmed by updated blood work a month after I started using them. -

For the love of Scallops !

I so love seafood with scallops being a top fave. I have pan fried them with some fresh minced garlic, a bit of sea salt and pepper and eaten with a side of homemade salsa. Yum! -
High Protein Diet vs. Counting Calories?
determinedtolive replied to carolina07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm ok with not eating any of those things but have read a few websites that say if you can tolerate dairy then it's ok to eat in moderation. I'm not able to go full Paleo because I can't afford to feed a family of 4 nothing but grass-fed, organic foods. I decided I'm just going to try to eat as close as I can. Considering how I've been eating for most of my adult life, even eating as closely as possible will still benefit me tremendously. I also think that if I can kick the crappy food before surgery, I'll have an easier time afterwards. -
High Protein Diet vs. Counting Calories?
determinedtolive replied to carolina07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor and the majority of the doctors that I've talked to are calorie focus. Which is fine and I understand that is what works for most of their patients. For me, calorie counting and writing everything I eat is a nightmare! It stresses me out so I was curious to see if anyone had a different diet focus that worked for them and gave them the same results or better results. A high Protein diet (Atkins) worked for me in the past, but I wasn't sure if anyone one had tried his approach after having the sleeve done. I'm not a fan of sugar-free products either. I like to eat real foods with no chemicals or ingredients that I can't pronounce I'm opting for an organic, free range, grass fed meats and stay away from chemicals as much as possible. I am trying to adopt a more Paleo way of eating which I think will compliment my sleeve very nicely. Paleo's (from what I've read so far) believe that if you are eating nutritiously you won't have to worry about calories. Your body will let you know when you've had enough. With that being said, I'm rather anal so I'll probably log for the first several months only to make sure I'm eating enough calories versus too much. -

Thank you for your post. I think I'm going to go ahead and try the variety pack. Sometimes it's hard to find Protein replacements without all the crap ingredients. I'll come back after I've tried them to either tell you you were right or that they weren't so bad for me. -

Do you use PatchMD vitamin patches?
determinedtolive replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ok, I've gotten the results of my Vitamin D levels. As per my previous post, I had blood done on 2/23/16 and started taking the following Patches on 3/4/16: Multivitamin B12 Vitamin D3/Calcium Omega 3 My Vitamin D results are as follows: Name Standard range 11/26/14 2/23/16 4/4/16 25-HYDROXYVITAMIN D 30 - 100 ng/mL 16 24 28 VITAMIN D, 25-HYDROXY, D2 <4 6 6 VITAMIN D, 25-HYDROXY, D3 16 18 22 As of 4/5/16, I'm using the Vitamin D3 only patch (no calcium) because I realized the one with Calcium is only 2,000 iu's while the Vitamin D3 one only is 5,000 iu's. Switching will give me 10,000 iu's daily which is what I want at this point because my D levels have been so low. I will say this though; after a month of taking these patches I FINALLY stopped feeling like a zombie. I have gone through the last several years of looking forward to sleeping despite never feeling like I've had enough. I was always tired, fatigued and no energy to do anything. I've started feeling more "normal" now and can't believe I've gone as long as I have feeling like crap. -
June - July sleevers?
determinedtolive replied to betterme38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
June 23rd here! -
****Don't read if you haven't seen the last episode**** The Talking Dead says it's a "beloved" character. To me, the only beloved characters will be the original cast members. Based on the tree line in the back, my guess is it's between Sasha, Aaron, Carl and Eugene. Neither Aaron or Eugene would be beloved and Neegan doesn't kill women so that leaves Carl. He told Rick he would pay and what better way to make him pay than to kill his son? For me, it ties into him saying to feed Carl's other eye to Rick if he makes a sound. BUT.....when the body falls, there is no camper in the background, only woods. Probably done on purpose to keep us from guessing. :/ And like most of you, I was very frustrated with this episode. I didn't mind the build up but that last 15 minutes drug out way too long for my liking.

Theme Park strategies

Do they have chicken in packages like the tuna? That might be a good idea. Not sure I can eat tuna warm. I struggle with it cold... It goes great on top of a side salad! -
caffeine withdrawal
determinedtolive replied to kmorri's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To kick my caffeine habit (Diet Coke) I went to iced tea for about a week. Still has caffeine but not as much. At that point, I went straight water. -
Is there a specific clothing store that you were gunning for once you reached your target/goal weight?

I'll be thankful when I can shop in the "normal" size section! But if I had to choose a store, I'd pick Old Navy. -

Go Pro Camera - does anyone have one etc.?
determinedtolive replied to Margie122's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I'm sorry I can't answer any of your questions but am interested in the answers. One of my first goals after surgery is to hit 250lbs or less. Once I do, I've promised the kids to take them zip lining and would love to have a Go Pro to record the beautiful scenery! -
I heard that! I promised the kids I'd take them to the amusement park this weekend if they get their chores done. If they do, I should get quite a few steps in. Lord knows I can't get on any rides! My water sits on my desk. I put a gallon in the freezer when I get in about 5:30-ish and I take it out an hour later. I drink right from the gallon. I'm classy like that.

Mine too. I have only noticed a few times that it did not register some flights that I did, but I'd rather it be under, than showing too many. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App Yeah, mine was over counting by a few hundred at a time.Yeah, that's not good! Did you get your Blaze? Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App Yes, I did and put it to the test earlier today. I spent part of my lunch 1/2 hour walking about a mile. Haven't walked in a REALLY long time and it doesn't help that I have a desk job. The most walking I'm getting other than the lunch break is taking the LONNNNGGGGG way around the building to go to the bathroom. LOL

What’s Your Spring Goal?
determinedtolive replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My goals are to lose another 40 pounds between now and surgery on 6/23/16 and kick the fast food habit for good. Those goals kind of go hand in hand. -

Just ordered the Fitbit Blaze. The stupid Charge HR is tracking steps I'm not even taking! I tried changing the settings from non-dominant to dominant to make it less sensitive but that didn't really work. I took it off and set it on my desk to prevent extra steps but somehow it still logged 3-400 steps while it sat there. I took a break and decided I'd test it against actually counting and it still logged a couple hundred more. Ugh! Blaze will be here tonight..in time for the challenge.
