Does anyone regret having surgery?
camry2016 replied to katragina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not at all. I had moments early on wondering "what did I do", but I barely remember that time. With 65 pounds gone and so much energy, I'm really glad I did it. -
5 days out and it isn't good
camry2016 replied to TiredOfMyself's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had that same sort of pain you are talking about. It really will get better. Do the best you can to get your liquids and Protein in, but don't get down on yourself - you are not failing. Sip.Take it slow. Get down what you can, but don't push or stress yourself out about it. And if you can walk. Walking/moving around helped me SO MUCH. It seemed to alleviate the gas pains/full feeling more than anything else did those first few weeks. Good luck and hang in there! -
Anyone else set for 4/20 or there abouts?
camry2016 replied to Andi07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is anyone else stalling out? My 6 month check up is next week and I've lost 12 lbs in the last three months. I know everyone's journey is different and I keep trying to tell myself that. I'm also trying to not just focus on the scale, but it's tough when for weeks the number won't budge. And then it will drop 3-4 lbs. And then it won't budge again. -
The most I can handle is 2-3 bites of thin crust - more than that and I don't feel well afterwards.

One week off from work?
camry2016 replied to sumochik's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 5 working days off, with the weekend it was a week. My first day back was a little rough, but by the end of the week I was feeling fairly normal. I did photograph an event 10 days post op...looking back, maybe not the best decision, but I made it through. Like others have said, everyone's journey is so different. I worked out pre-surgery, so I think that helped with my recovery time, plus I had no complications. -

WOW - 105 down? That is awesome! I'm down almost 60. August was pretty much one long stall, so that was frustrating, but in the last couple weeks I've been dropping again. -
4 months post op success!

You look awesome! I was sleeved about a week after you and love seeing the results of others that had their surgery around the same time. -
Extreme Sports after sleeve, nutrition and hydration
camry2016 replied to buckeyegirl76's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm nearly 4 months out, so still a newb, but I had the same concerns you did, so I thought I'd chime in on my experience thus far. I started back running at 6 weeks post-op. Around 2-2/12 months I was back to my pre-surgery lifting weight. At first I felt off...little dizzy, weak, just not 100%, or even 75%. However, with each week it got better and I listened to my body vs. pushing through. Around 10 weeks post-op I started to feel much better. I'm running farther and faster than I have in over a decade. I am trying to figure when/what to eat before an intense workout because I now get nauseated and heart burn easier. -
It's such a great feeling to get rid of clothes that are TOO BIG! Congrats!

I'm going on my third week of this stall. At first I was embracing the stall, now I'm swearing at it. I keep trying to think "you're down 50 lbs in 3.5 months...be happy..." Easier said than done.

camry2016 replied to Andi07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm happy with the results so far, but I do worry that after the honeymoon is over I may struggle. My biggest issue right now is taking time to eat. Between work and kid activities right now I'm stretched. I rarely sit down, eat, chew slowly, etc. I'm not making bad food choices, but I get sick to my stomach/too full feeling quite often because I'm eating too fast. The positive, I usually cannot wait to get the gym every day....I went pre-surgery, but it was chore. It's motivating to see my endurance increase and run times decrease :-) -
I'm two months out from surgery. At my gym last night, part of the workout was a 15 minute timed run. I thought well, I guess I'll just see what I can do. As I was running, I kept increasing my speed because I was not fatigued. I did 1.65 miles in 15 minutes...that's a 9:05 minute mile. It felt awesome to see that number...still smiling about it.

Two questions... When did you first try Protein bars? Did it go down OK? I'm 5 weeks out, and on soft foods, so no Protein Bar for me yet. However I know pre-sleeve they sometimes did not sit well, so I'm curious how they are for people post-sleeve.

I've been stalled for the last couple weeks and that's bumming me out a bit. BUT I'm back to working out regularly, my clothes are getting way too big and overall I'm feeling good. -
Experienced frothing for the first time...OMG
camry2016 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a month out and really have not had many issues other than nausea the first couple days after surgery. On Saturday I think I ate too quickly and/or didn't chew well and experienced frothing. It was AWFUL! Even after the frothing ended, I still did not feel well....uggggg. Never want to go through that again! -
Exercising one month post op
camry2016 replied to jccanada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you!! Although I like the physical benefits of exercise, I really need it more for the mental release. It's my time...no kids, no housework, no job, just me and my sweaty self -
I've been walking since surgery, but today was my first day back at the gym in 5 weeks. (4/22 surgery). The gym I go to is Orange Theory, so it's 30 minutes weights and core, the other 30 minutes is treadmill. The treadmill part was 25 minutes of run to row. When I saw that I though "awesome. I'm going to suck it up today"...I shocked myself by being able run the whole time...granted it was slower than pre-surgery, but it felt good! I was really nervous to get back at it, but I'm so glad I went!

Surgery is TOMORROW! Doesn't seem real.
camry2016 replied to mlgok's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck! It's was a hard decision for me to make, but I'm so glad I did. I'm just over a month out and each day gets better. -
Today I had my one month check up. By my scale I'm down 29 lbs. By the dr's scale today I'm down 25...either way I'll take it! Biggest issue for me right now is I've not had a bowl movement in nearly 9 days, so now I'm on a reg. schedule of miralax.

Puréed Stage: what are you eating?
camry2016 replied to lisamstevens's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pretty much anything my family is eating, I'm pureeing. For taco night I mixed the meat with some avocado and taco sauce, on spaghetti night I mixed meat with sauce and a little cheese. I've made egg salad, tuna salad, skinny version of buffalo chicken dip, steamed veggies, applesauce, etc. If you are on Pinterest there are recipe links on there, or Google pureed food recipes after bariatric surgery. -
Anyone else set for 4/20 or there abouts?
camry2016 replied to Andi07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I loved protein shakes before surgery. I would have one nearly every morning for breakfast. Post-surgery they don't sit well with my stomach and it sort of bums me out. Hopefully with time I will be able to tolerate them a little better. -

camry2016 replied to Andi07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 4/22. I'm down 30 lbs (lost 10 pre-op). I was on liquids the first 3 weeks, started pureed foods last Friday and at my 1 month check up tomorrow I should go to soft foods. It's been an interesting ride so far. The weight fell off the first couple weeks and has been slow this last week or so. However, I'm in clothes I have not worn in 2+ years, so that's making me happy :-). Also, since going to pureed my energy is way up. I'll be starting back at my gym on Monday and was wondering if I'd make it through the hour workout, now that my energy is back I'm excited to get back to it. -
Good call eating with the kids! I'll have to remember that one. I'm pretty sure because I'm self-conscious about my new lifestyle, that others notice too...but so far that's not the case for me.I'm only 3.5 weeks out, but have had a couple family gatherings. My sister is the only one that knows about the surgery. Both gatherings I was on the liquid stage. I thought someone may notice what I ate (or didn't eat), but no one batted an eye. Same thing when we went to a friends house last week for happy hour...no one said a word that I wasn't eating apps. I'm pretty sure they thought my Water bottle with crystal light was a mixed drink, so that probably helped

3 weeks out, what are you eating?
camry2016 replied to tiffanymarie6997's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last Friday I was able to move to pureed. I'm eating just about anything I make for the family, just mashed up. Example, I made chicken enchiladas this weekend. I saved some of the meat filling and pureed it...so it had chicken, sour lean, black Beans, spices, taco sauce and little cheese. Breakfast is usually cottage cheese or my Protein shake. -
3 days out and feel like ****!
camry2016 replied to Rvamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you running a fever? If so, I would call your doc. On my take home sheet one of the first things listed was if you run a fever call. I'm 19 days post op. I was sleeved on a Friday, home on Saturday. Sat and Sunday I was somewhat OK, Monday I was miserable. I didn't feel good, I was thirsty all.the.time. Anything other than Water made me feel sick. But then it started to get better. Now, nearly 3 weeks into this I feel good...so it really does get better! You just have to hang in there.
